Reborn with Steve Stand

Chapter 3: Chapter 2

Fang Mo was shocked to discover that his last words had been turned into a mod pack.

"This is unbelievable! Did they really turn my last words into a mod pack?" he exclaimed.

Frustrated with the situation, he regretted not making more requests before his death. He thought it would have been wise to ask for an Equivalent Exchange Mod or something similar.

Feeling a mix of emotions, Fang Mo stood still for a moment, struggling to grasp the reality of the situation. Eventually, he let out a sigh of helplessness, accepting that he couldn't change what had happened. He found solace in the fact that, at least, he hadn't been thrown into a mountain range.

As Fang Mo awakened as Steve's Stand, he realized he had the ability to multitask, just like in a video game. While Steve chopped trees, Fang Mo contemplated the implications of the mods on his future.

Fang Mo was well-acquainted with Pam's HarvestCraft Mod, which he had frequently encountered while playing on servers. The mod introduced new crops, kitchen tools, and food recipes, enhancing the game experience.

However, this familiarity posed a challenge for Fang Mo.

Pam's HarvestCraft significantly reduced the hunger satisfaction provided by the original food items. Even basic foods like potatoes, apples, and carrots offered less nourishment unless one invested time into crafting complex utensils and preparing elaborate dishes.

Now confronted with a problem, Fang Mo realized that he couldn't recall any of the crafting recipes from Pam's HarvestCraft Mod. In the game, he could have easily consulted a guide, but being trapped in the Minecraft world meant he had no access to any form of assistance or guidance.

Fang Mo acknowledged his average gaming skills, able to recall basic crafting recipes from the original game but struggling with complex recipes introduced by mods. Remembering thousands of crafting recipes would be unrealistic for anyone, unless they possessed an exceptional memory or have special condition.

"This is a problem," he muttered.

The realization that he had no access to crafting recipes left Fang Mo feeling helpless. "If only I had installed 'JEI' or 'NEI' before I died. The 'G' key crafting table would have been so useful..."

Dealing with Pam's HarvestCraft seemed manageable.

Fang Mo wasn't particularly enthusiastic about that mod, as it mainly focused on obtaining more potatoes. If three baked potatoes weren't enough, he could simply eat ten, right?

However, it was the other mods that worried Fang Mo.

Take the Avaritia Mod, for example.

Without knowledge of its crafting recipes, just the Infinity Catalyst recipe alone could trap Fang Mo in one place and eventually lead to his demise.

While Fang Mo was consumed by the dilemma of crafting recipes, his Stand diligently continued chopping down trees, mimicking the swift chopping speed from the game. Steve's backpack quickly filled up with wood.

Noticing the full backpack, Fang Mo temporarily set aside his concerns about crafting recipes and focused on organizing the items.

After a considerable effort, Steve's backpack now contained approximately seven stacks of wood, over half a stack of cobblestone, a few stone pickaxes, and various fruits and vegetables from Pam's HarvestCraft.

Meanwhile, the sky had darkened completely.

Faint cries and the clattering of bones echoed through the forest.

Suddenly, Fang Mo snapped out of his thoughts, realizing that he had been lost in contemplation for too long, neglecting the approaching nightfall. Mobs had already started to spawn in the surrounding area.

The first night in Minecraft is perilous for newcomers due to the presence of dangerous mobs in the darkness. However, Fang Mo, a skilled and renowned player, is well-prepared for the challenge.

Without hesitation, Fang Mo takes charge, instructing Steve to dig a three-block high hole. Using Steve's shoulders as a boost, Fang Mo jumps into the pit, creating a quick underground shelter. He decides against sharing cramped quarters with Steve and seals the hole above him. Meanwhile, Steve continues excavating the surroundings, a common survival tactic.

After a short digging session, Fang Mo has a practical underground basement measuring three meters high, twelve meters long, and nine meters wide. Resource management is key, so he opts for a modest basement instead of an extravagant dwelling.

Strategically placed torches illuminate the basement. On the left side, a crafting table, several furnaces, and chests are available. On the right side, Fang Mo plans to transform a 9x9 dirt patch into an underground potato farm for sustenance.

With his belongings organized, Fang Mo wastes no time and begins mining. He has already accumulated a substantial amount of cobblestone and produced charcoal using the furnaces. Steve's backpack is now filled with torches and stone pickaxes, making mining an enjoyable task.

The remaining space in the backpack is primarily occupied by food ingredients from Pam's HarvestCraft mod. While they appear plentiful, each item restores only a meager 1 hunger point, and the variety of ingredients takes up significant space. Fang Mo contemplates whether he's embarking on a mining expedition or simply preparing for a camping trip.

Shaking his head, Fang Mo made sure Steve ate seven blueberries to satisfy their hunger before embarking on their mining expedition. Fang Mo's mining path sloped downward and branched out in a fishbone pattern as they approached bedrock, allowing for efficient mining of iron ore and diamond prospecting.

After about twenty digs, Fang Mo's pickaxe unexpectedly struck empty space, revealing a vast natural cave.

"Hmm?"

Fang Mo shared in the surprise as torchlight illuminated several iron ore veins within the cave.

Exploring a cave without proper gear was exceedingly dangerous due to the darkness and the frequent spawning of monsters. It posed a significant risk for Steve.

Nevertheless, Fang Mo, an experienced miner, maintained his confidence. He directed Steve to strategically place torches to illuminate the cave and gain a better understanding of its layout. Then, he proceeded to mine the iron ore veins.

In a short time, Steve's backpack was brimming with nearly half a stack of iron ore.

Rather than succumbing to greed, Fang Mo swiftly returned to the basement to smelt the iron ore and craft a full set of iron armor, an iron sword, and a shield. Steve was now fully equipped for battle.

With this newfound gear, Fang Mo felt a sense of relief. He finally possessed the means to defend himself.

After replenishing their hunger by consuming six bunches of grapes and two cucumbers, Fang Mo ventured back into the depths of the underground.

Fang Mo's extraordinary streak of luck persisted. Although his original intention was to continue digging towards bedrock, it didn't take long before he inadvertently broke through a patch of moss-covered rock.

Underneath the mossy surface, faint growls of monsters could be heard.

"What on earth?" Fang Mo couldn't help but display a surprised expression. "A dungeon?"
