Chapter479-Isabella's Fate
[Fate 3: Sealed by Aurelia (already happened)]
Daniel ignored Isabella's attempts to tempt him and accelerated his calculations.
[Fate 4: Find a way to resurrect Elizabeth, and kill the one who did it.]
The fourth fate that had appeared had not yet been realized.
But according to the rules of the Clock of Fate, as long as the fate was shown by the Clock of Fate, it would ultimately come true.
This meant that someday in the future, Isabella would certainly be able to resurrect Elizabeth.
If that were the case, what would happen if I choose to refuse to help?
Daniel pondered this, but did not immediately reject Isabella. Instead, he calmly spoke up,
"I can agree to resurrect Elizabeth, but not now. Because right now, I don't have enough confidence."
"Before resurrecting Elizabeth, in exchange, I need you to understand that if I fall into danger, you might never be able to resurrect her."
"So, please protect me, do you understand what I mean?"
As Daniel responded, he also continued to calculate in his mind.
After all, Isabella, both in power and intelligence, was a very formidable being.
And Elizabeth's existence had actually provided Daniel with a reasonable leverage.
No matter what choice Isabella made, it was ultimately advantageous to him.
The more Isabella needed his power, the safer he was.
At that moment, the fifth fate appeared before Daniel.
[Fate 5: Become a god in the fields of beauty and charm.]
The effect of the Clock of Fate had basically shown the direction of Isabella's future fate.
So, in a way, the Clock of Fate possessed the ability to foresee the future.
What Daniel didn't expect, though, was that these fates, which were originally fixed, had changed as soon as he saw them.
Now, Daniel could choose whether to let these fates come to pass or not.
Of course, if he wanted to prevent a particular fate from occurring, it was clear that there would be a price to pay.
The more powerful Isabella was, the higher the price Daniel would need to pay.
It felt like this: changing the fate of an ant was very simple, but if one wanted to kill a god, it was almost impossible to accomplish.
Meanwhile, Isabella seemed to have anticipated Daniel's response.
In fact, it was entirely normal in Isabella's eyes that Daniel didn't immediately agree to resurrect Elizabeth.
Because right now, Daniel hadn't even reached the Fake God level, and to resurrect a Demigod Rank powerhouse would be nothing more than a fantasy due to his lack of power.
If Daniel had agreed right away, she would have doubted if there was some trickery involved.
"Alright, please rest assured. Before you resurrect my poor sister, I will definitely protect you."
"Don't worry too much; the fruits over there are very fresh. I'll buy you a watermelon to try!"
Isabella once again reverted to her sweet, youthful demeanor, as if nothing that had just happened had anything to do with her.
Despite Isabella's enthusiasm, Daniel showed considerable coldness.
This wasn't because Daniel was unaware of romance, but because he had realized that even though he was being extremely cautious, every time he interacted with Isabella, it would always have a certain impact on him.
It felt like a slow addiction, and one day, he might completely lose himself in it.
If that happened, he would be thoroughly done for.
Though Isabella might not kill him, becoming her puppet would be no different from death.
Therefore, even though Isabella promised to help him whenever he needed, Daniel didn't dare to ask for her aid so easily.
Doing so could lead to serious consequences!
After that, Isabella seemed to return to her sweet and gentle self, no longer bringing up any requests or Elizabeth. She simply followed Daniel quietly through the celebration.
An hour passed, which was actually quite tight.
Isabella only briefly glanced around, and the time was already close to its end.
She stood atop a high building, gazing at the bustling streets below, and her face relaxed into a peaceful expression.
"Little brother, the scenery here is really wonderful."
"I can feel that every person's life here is truly happy."
"It seems you're quite a competent Human Emperor."
Isabella said this, but in her mind, memories of the time she lived in came flooding back.
That era also had many races living on the Origin Continent, but there were massive conflicts between the races at that time.
Compared to Daniel's current Origin Continent, life in her era had been incredibly miserable.
In contrast, life in this mental world was like heaven on earth.
"Honestly, the environment here is really good. If I could live here, I think even if I couldn't become a god, it wouldn't be such a big deal."
After this reflection, Isabella turned to look at Daniel and asked,
"Lord Daniel, I want to ask you something. I've read about your human race's history, and I've asked many people. They all say you've created many miracles."
"I don't want to ask how you created these miracles. I only want to know, have you ever truly relaxed, even for just a moment?"
Hearing this question, Daniel was momentarily stunned. He carefully recalled his recent experiences, and it seemed he hadn't truly relaxed at all.
Although he had used Time Stream multiple times and relived countless moments, there had only been one period, back in the old castle, when he had truly allowed himself to rest, even if only slightly.
But even then, it wasn't true relaxation because Daniel was still thinking about many god-related matters.
Including later, when he was with Kartora, experiencing the time-stream tunnel... it was the same.
If he were to speak of true relaxation, it seemed Daniel had never experienced it.
At this thought, a bitter smile appeared on Daniel's face.
It seemed that in his journey to grow stronger, he had lost many things along the way.
But there was no helping it; after all, one couldn't easily acquire something without putting in a great deal of effort.
For Daniel, at least he wouldn't regret what he had done.
In his view, only by first living well could one be qualified to enjoy the other things in life!
