Chapter371-Laeve’s Method
The God of Life suddenly raised her head, her gaze briefly sweeping over Aurelia's closed eyelids. After a moment's contemplation, she spoke."Now that I think about it, there is a place I know of. It's quite dangerous, but it might hold the key to solving the issues affecting Aurelia."
At these words, the Luck Goddess and Kartora couldn't help but focus their attention entirely on the God of Life.
On the other side, Daniel remained silent, but his mind was already working as he activated his Psychic Perception.[If I can find the Life Core, I might be able to save Aurelia.][Although obtaining the Life Core may come with some risks, with Faer's theoretical foundation, I should be able to extract it successfully.][Once I integrate the Life Core into my own being, I'll be able to ascend to the demigod level, and at that point, I could also heal Aurelia's injuries.][But I'm not sure if Faer's theory is flawless. After all, only Faer and Aurelia have attempted this method before, and they are both made of elemental essence.][I, however, possess a physical body, so I should exercise greater caution.]
Clearly, the God of Life in front of them was not yet prepared to ascend to the next level. But with Aurelia gravely injured, she could not afford to remain indifferent. After pondering for a moment, the God of Life spoke again."I need to think this over a little more. There's danger involved, and I should be more cautious before making a decision."
Upon hearing this, Kartora nodded in understanding."Alright, we'll wait another day."
However, Luck Goddess seemed to have something on the tip of her tongue. She opened her mouth to speak but ultimately chose silence, offering no further words.
Kartora, sensing her hesitation, gently pulled Luck Goddess aside into a room.Meanwhile, Luna, the little one, was quietly wiping away her tears. To her innocent heart, seeing her friend in pain filled her with great sadness.
Daniel, noticing Luna's sorrow, walked over and softly rubbed her forehead. Her hair was soft and fluffy, a delight to touch."Don't be sad, Luna. How about I take you out for a walk?"
Luna nodded, taking Daniel's hand as they left the castle together.
With that, only the God of Life and Aurelia remained in the castle hall. The God of Life gazed at Aurelia's pained expression and couldn't help but sigh softly."Sometimes, there are things that must be done…"
The Next Day
The God of Life took the initiative and spoke up with a plan."Leave Aurelia to me. I will do my best to find a way to restore her health."
After this, the Luck Goddess paused for a moment before turning to Kartora."Kartora, I need you to come with me. I can't do this alone."
Kartora nodded, but before she could say anything else, the Luck Goddess, still eager to join, was halted by a raised hand from the God of Life."Luke, even if you come with me, it won't help. I need you here, watching over the castle."
"Can you promise me that?"
The Luck Goddess's face filled with concern. After all, the previous battle had been terrifying, and with the God of Life's power, saving Aurelia seemed almost impossible.Unless… godhood!
Suddenly, the Luck Goddess's eyes brightened, as if a realization struck her.If this was indeed the case, there might still be a chance!
After a moment's reflection, the Luck Goddess turned to the God of Life and spoke seriously."Laeve, I'm entrusting Aurelia to you from here on."
Laeve nodded, just as serious, and replied."Don't worry, Luke. Aurelia is not only your friend, she is also mine."
"Since that's the case, I shall send you off with good fortune."
As her words fell, a faint bluish light began to envelop Laeve and Kartora, a blessing from the Luck Goddess.Though the Luck Goddess did not directly intervene, her blessing was surely felt.
"Now that we've made the decision, let's act quickly."The God of Life, Laeve, said, opening a pale yellow, elongated portal within the castle. She and Kartora stepped through one after the other, disappearing into the light as the portal closed behind them.
One Month Later
It was an ordinary day when the Luck Goddess, Luke, went about her usual tasks. She watered all the plants around the castle, as she had done many times before.
However, at that very moment, a sudden spatial disturbance appeared in the castle's plaza.A portal materialized out of thin air.
A wide grin spread across Luke's face as excitement filled her chest. She rushed to the portal, almost certain that she would see Aurelia awake and fully healed.
But to her surprise, when the portal opened, it wasn't Aurelia who emerged fully revived—it was her and Kartora, stumbling out with disheveled appearances.
Both of them looked far from well, their faces ashen and their bodies battered.
At once, the Luck Goddess sensed that something was terribly wrong. Her face darkened with worry."Laeve? Where is she? Why didn't she come back with you? And what happened to you two?"
Kartora remained silent, not offering an explanation. She turned and, almost immediately, retreated to her room.
On the other hand, Aurelia, her expression complex, turned to the Luck Goddess and spoke in a calm but distant voice."Luke, you probably already know the truth… Laeve was not ready."
Her voice was unnervingly calm, yet there was a coldness beneath her words."Also, your luck… it can only save one person."
"Thank you, though. Regardless of what happened, I am grateful for your help in bringing me this far."
"But now, I must leave. Goodbye."
Daniel, sitting off to the side, watched the scene unfold silently. At the same time, he used Psychic Perception to sense Aurelia's emotional state.
"It's my fault. It's my fault for not being strong enough! If I were stronger, I could've dealt with the curse from the Fake God myself. Then, I wouldn't have to end up like this."
Aurelia seemed to have made up her mind. She gave Luke one last glance before vanishing, her form dissolving into a beam of light.
