Chapter 94: Great Knight!
Harry felt a chill run through him. The idea that even the seed of life could be a material for wizards was unsettling. It made him question whether knights like him might become targets if they ventured into wizard territories in the future.
"I need to prepare now," Sean said abruptly, breaking the silence. "Those idiots went in a different direction. With their habits, they should make enough noise to draw the attention of the person behind all this."
He turned to Harry and David. "I'll gather the necessary equipment and spells to deal with whoever's pulling the strings here. What about you two?"
He glanced at Harry. "You've got some backup plans, right?"
"Luckily, just a few tricks for temporary boosts," Harry replied with a quiet smile. "But I'll need some special materials to make it work."
Without hesitation, Sean pulled out a bundle of strange items from his pack. The materials were odd, and the way Sean handled them made it clear they were valuable.
"These are all my belongings," Sean said, gesturing to the pile. "You can take anything you need, except for the essentials. But if you do, make sure to use them well."
Harry eyed the materials, a grin spreading across his face. "Don't worry, I won't disappoint you."
"Good. I'll wait here."
Sean smiled as Harry turned to leave, his confidence clear. David, on the other hand, stood awkwardly, unsure of what to do.
"Mr. Sean," David spoke up, his voice hesitant, "Is there anything I can do to help?"
Sean gave him a steady look. "Your best help right now is to stay quiet and keep watch. Make sure no one comes to disturb me."
David's mouth twitched, and he opened his mouth to say something, but seeing Sean's cold expression, he thought better of it. He nodded silently and walked off to stand guard.
Meanwhile, Harry moved into a more open area, the scene eerily familiar, it was the same place they'd been earlier. The bodies of several monsters were scattered on the ground, and a few others were nearby, feeding on the fallen.
"Ah, cannibalism?" Harry mused, watching the monsters munching on their own kind. "No honor, huh?"
Suddenly, one of the monsters roared and charged at him. Without missing a beat, Harry drew his sword, and the monsters lunged.
Bang!
In the blink of an eye, the monsters were sent flying backward, crashing into a stone wall with a sickening thud.
"Interesting," Harry muttered, a smile tugging at his lips. "It's been a while since I had a proper fight. I hope you don't disappoint me."
He unsheathed his sword, his movements calm but lethal. The monsters charged again, undeterred.
This time, Harry wasn't in the mood for games. He swung his sword down with terrifying force, releasing a surge of life energy that swept through the area. The blast shattered the air and obliterated the monsters in its path.
Boom!
One monster's body exploded into a twisted mess, crashing to the ground in a heap.
And that was just the beginning.
With every swing of his sword, Harry cut through the monsters effortlessly, his full strength overwhelming them. They didn't stand a chance. Each strike was clean, efficient, and merciless.
If David had been there to witness it, he would have been completely stunned.
The monsters before Harry were massive, their sheer size enough to make anyone hesitate. Though they lacked intelligence, their hulking figures alone could intimidate anyone into avoiding a direct confrontation.
Even a knight who had awakened the seed of life would struggle to face these beasts alone.
In terms of raw strength, each of these monsters was on par with a knight in their prime. Yet, despite their size and power, they were no match for Harry.
Harry's strength had long surpassed that of a typical knight. Through countless rituals and enhancements, he had regained much of his former power. Now, he stood at the level of a top-tier knight, a force to be reckoned with. In fact, he could easily defeat three or even four knight lords if he wished.
Against such monsters, the outcome was never in doubt.
With the danger cleared, Harry's attention shifted to the spoils.
He couldn't help but smile as he stood over the fallen beasts. "This is going to be good."
The monsters' massive bodies promised a wealth of vitality, which Harry knew would be valuable.
He quickly set to work, pulling out the materials he had received from Sean. Carefully, he began inscribing runes on the ground, his movements precise and deliberate.
As the runes shimmered with power, the familiar hum of the life ritual began to resonate through his body. Harry closed his eyes, letting the sensations wash over him.
As expected, the vitality from these monsters was immense. The ritual's results were unlike anything he had experienced before, the energy he absorbed was equivalent to five or six previous rituals combined.
The transformation was already impressive.
As the monsters' bodies disintegrated into powder, their life force fully drained, Harry's aura expanded, becoming more powerful with each passing second. Within him, his seed of life began to bloom, the power within it growing stronger, reaching new heights.
This was life force in its purest form, being refined and transformed.
A knight who has awakened the seed of life learns to harness this energy, using it to strengthen their weapons and enhance their combat abilities. But a Grand Knight, someone who has taken the next step, experiences a profound transformation. Their body changes, developing extraordinary organs, and their life energy reaches new levels, capable of more than just enhancing weapons; it can enhance every part of their being.
Harry raised his hand, a subtle white light gleaming in his palm. With a simple wave, the energy shot forward.
Bang!
The stone wall in front of him shattered with a thunderous crack, leaving a deep dent in its surface.
This was the power of sublimated life energy.
Now, not only was Harry's energy stronger than ever, but he could direct it throughout his body, not just his weapon. Even without a sword, the power of a Grand Knight could be unleashed with devastating effect.
It was a lot more flexible, and far more dangerous.
But as he surveyed the scene, Harry noticed that the monster corpses had been completely consumed, their vitality fully drained.
Harry raised his head, his gaze sharp as he scanned the surroundings. Something was coming, drawn by the movement in the area.
"Ah, so you sensed my strength isn't quite enough yet, and you're offering yourself as a snack?" Harry murmured, a glint of excitement in his eyes. "Well then, I won't be rude."
The way he saw it, the other party had practically delivered the meat right to his mouth. Refusing would be disrespectful at this point. Besides, there was still some leftover material from Sean, which made the opportunity even sweeter.
"I wonder how Sean's preparations are going..." he thought for a moment, then stepped forward.
Soon, the air was filled with noise, chaotic sounds of movement, followed by an eerie silence, as everything went still once more.
After some time, Harry walked back into the clearing, his steps slow and measured.
David, standing guard outside, snapped to attention as Harry approached. At first, he tensed up, but then relaxed, exhaling a sigh of relief. "Mr. Harry, it's you."
"What happened?" Harry asked, his tone casual but alert.
"At first, everything seemed fine," David began, clearly puzzled. "I could hear the monsters' footsteps getting closer, but then, for some reason, they all turned and went in the opposite direction."
He scratched his head. "I think something went wrong with Mr. Henry and his team. That might have drawn the monsters away."
"Could be," Harry agreed with a nod, but in his mind, he knew it was him who had lured the monsters. To ensure a larger food supply and ease the pressure on Sean, Harry had intentionally made enough noise to draw the creatures in. It was a win-win situation, more food for him and less disturbance for Sean while he prepared.
After giving David a few encouraging words and reminding him to stay alert, Harry made his way toward Sean.
When he arrived, Sean was still busy at work, pulling out materials from his bag and assembling something with intense focus.
"You're back?" Sean asked without turning, his voice casual. "Everything go okay?"
"Some bumps along the way, but overall, it went smoothly," Harry replied, watching Sean's hands work with a mix of curiosity and respect. "What are you working on?"
"Just preparing spell materials I might need later," Sean explained, still absorbed in his task.
"Spell materials?" Harry asked, intrigued. "Do you need materials to cast spells?"
"Yes, for most spells, it's essential," Sean answered. "Unfortunately, as an apprentice, I don't have the power of a formal wizard. I rely on these materials to cast spells effectively."
He paused, then added, "Even a formal wizard needs to prepare in advance. The same spell can be much more powerful with the right materials and focus."
"Really?" Harry nodded, still processing the idea, though he didn't fully understand.
He didn't press further but stood quietly nearby, observing Sean's every movement. In truth, he saw a reflection of his future in Sean, if he ever decided to become a wizard, this might be what his own preparation would look like.
After a while, Sean finally finished his work. He carefully placed the completed materials into medicine bottles and looked up at Harry. "All done."
"Great," Harry grinned, his anticipation building. "Let's go then. I can't wait any longer."
