After Damion annihilated the Aerico in the cave, he took note of a small passage he had missed before and just as he suspected, more Aerico started wandering out of it. Damion paid the new beasts no mind and focused on the notifications from the Magic System rolling in. Not only did he finish his quests, but he finished the F and E Rank quests twice. Damion could not hold out any longer and opened his system menu.

'System, level up,' Damion mentally said to the Magic System.

{Error. Unable to increase Magic System Level until Magic System is fully unlocked.}

Damion had been afraid of this. He'd hoped to get the Magic System to unlock or at least level up and unlock new features. Apparently, Damion had to wait until he turned 18. With the question of the system answered, Damion headed out of the cave.

This tale has been unlawfully obtained from Royal Road. If you discover it on Amazon, kindly report it.

When Damion reached daylight, he took out his compass and headed due south. From the cave mouth, Damion walked in as straight a line as he could south, even marking the trees in his path with his sword. Damion wanted to make sure he could find his way back to the cave. Once Damion reached the edge of the Benault Forest, he sliced off a large tree branch and stabbed it in the ground upright to mark the place he needed to reenter the forest.

It took Damion a little while to locate his ground car, since he searched in the wrong direction for it at first. Once in his ground car, Damion headed at full speed across the countryside back to Saung. Despite not driving on the road, Damion drove as fast as the ground car would go, he needed to report his suspicions to the Adventurer Association as soon as possible.

When Damion finally reached Saung he returned his ground car to the shop he rented it from, getting an annoyed look from the shop keep due to the mud and dirt coating the sides of the ground car. After dropping his pack off at home, so he did not have to lug the thing all across the city, Damion headed to the Adventurer Association.

"Excuse me, I need to report something unusual regarding my quest," Damion told the clerk as he handed the woman his adventurer license. This clerk was a young woman he had not met before during any of his visits to the Association.

"Aerico hunt mission," the clerk said after swiping Damion's license on her terminal and readding what his mission was. "Have you completed the mission?"

"Yes, but…"

"Your proof."

"I didn't collect all the ears. I fou…"

"I'll have to mark the mission as incomplete and you won't receive any reward if you don't have the required proof."

"Please listen," Damion said, trying to keep himself calm. "I found something important regarding the Aerico and I need to report it to someone high up."

"I can enter your report and flag it for the branch managers to review," the clerk told Damion blandly.

"This is a matter of some urgency. And I'm not sure of the protocol of putting this in a report."

"What is it that you have discovered?"

Damion was suddenly in a bind. He did not know if this clerk had access to what he wanted to discuss. In fact, he was not sure if this clerk was even an adventurer.

"I'm not sure if this is something you are authorized to know," Damion told the clerk.

"I can assure you tha…"

"May I borrow your communication tablet?" Damion asked quickly, his was buried in his pack at his house, and he realized the only way to bypass this clerk, was to get someone who knew how to.

The clerk handed Damion her communication tablet and Damion quickly tapped in Ms. Teft's number.

"Damion? Everything alright?" Ms. Teft said when she saw Damion's face on her tablet.

"Ms. Teft, I need you come to the Adventurer Association right away. I believe I have discovered something in the Benault Forest related to my last two missions."

Ms. Teft's eyes narrowed when Damion said his last two missions. There were two possibilities when he referred to two last missions. Damion had suffered two attacks from Falks Guild members. Could he have found something else the guild was hiding? Or was it literally about his last two missions, which were dungeon runs.

"I'm on my way," Ms. Teft said and ended the call.

The Adventurer Association clerk looked confused about who Damion had just called and why Ms. Teft coming here would make any difference. This told Damion that he had made the right choice in not discussing with the clerk his discovery.

A few minutes later Ms. Teft arrived at the Adventurer Association along with a man that Damion did not recognize. The two walked right over to Damion and the clerk, not sparing anyone else a glance, despite nearly every eye in the hall following them both.

"I'll take it from here Tilda," the man said to the young clerk who only nodded silently looking back and forth between Damion, the man and Ms. Teft.

"We'll speak in my office Knight Wells," the man said, gesturing for Damion to follow.

The way the man spoke told Damion what he needed to know about him. He was the man in charge. When they reached a lavish office and he took a seat behind the large desk, Damion knew he was right. This man was the branch manager of the Adventurer Association, which meant he was likely an A Rank Mage, just like his teacher.

"Now, Knight Wells, please tell me about your discovery," Edmund Halsey said while waving a hand at the chairs in front of his desk for Damion and Ms. Teft to sit.

"Yes sir. I took the Aerico kill mission and I believe I have stumbled on where they come from."

"Interesting. What makes you think no one has discovered this before?"

"Because I don't think they would still be appearing in the forest if anyone had found their source before."

"Explain."

"I think they are coming from a Stable Breach. And since the highest Rank Aerico that appears is D Rank, I'm guessing it is a D Rank dungeon."

"Beasts that come from dungeons are Demonic Beasts. Aerico are Ferocious Beasts," the branch manager said looking at Damion curiously.

"Are they?" Damion asked as he took the bag of ears off his waist and fished out the couple of odd spheres he had found in Aerico skulls.
