Reborn With a Magic System

Chapter 249 – Clearing His Inventory

"Mage Wells… where are you going?" the dungeon attendant called to Damion as he started to leave the containment compound.

"Just going to an artifact store to sell some of my goods," Damion replied cheerfully.

"But what about Headmaster Sorin? Don't you think you should wait for him?"

"You can call him and tell him I cleared the dungeon. I bet he'll be really surprised," Damion called back as he walked out of the compound.

Since it was already negotiated that everything he looted from the dungeon would his, he had no interest in waiting around or giving a report. With the dungeon reset after the core was destroyed, no one would know for sure what he gained from the run. They could speculate, but how many of them would really believe a single C Rank mage and his Ferocious Beast pet killed everything except the guardian in a B Rank dungeon.

After making his way to a public tram, Damion headed towards Teft Artifacts and Adventurer Supplies. He had a lot of Demonic Beast carcasses that needed processing. The Slash Rats he would just keep the cores, but the Light and Holy affinity carcasses, Damion wanted to keep. However, he still needed them processed.

For most Demonic Beasts, every piece was valuable. There were exceptions, like the Aerico, where only the cores were valuable since the rest would spread disease. Or the undead type of Demonic Beasts that were many times, little more than a skeleton and a core, but even then, their bones had certain uses. But Demonic Beasts like the Lotus Deer, White Capybaras and Moon Wolves he encountered in the Holy Forest were worth quite a lot.

Everything from the furs and hides to their meat had value. Artifact and supply companies, like Calm Sea and Clear Sky could process a Demonic Beast carcass in a matter of minutes. Teft Artifacts and Adventurer Supplies had a similar set up, which was why Damion was heading back to them and not bothering with the Caplan or the Sorin family shops.

As he rode the tram, Damion took a look at the notifications from the Magic System. Minor Heal and Frost Over had increased to D Rank while Ice Wall had risen to C Rank. With these three quest complete notifications, Damion had gained enough experience points for the Magic System to level up.

*Ding*

{Magic System has enough experience to upgrade to level 3. Would you like to upgrade now?}

[Yes] [No]

'No,' Damion told the System.

He would wait until tonight and let the Magic System upgrade while he slept. Then in the morning, he would finally be able to start trading in magic cores for credits. He did not hold out hope that he would be able instantly afford the Anti-Regression Potion, but each step forward was progress.

Even though he had no idea how many credits he would be able to acquire from the cores he had, he decided he would spend half of them on purchases from the System. It had been a while since he purchased anything, and he felt it was about time he started spending money to make money.

A few more passive spells would certainly be an easy ticket to earn some credits. His current spells were getting to the point that it was hard to increase their mastery. For most of his spells he would need weeks, possibly months of practice in addition to practical experience before he would start seeing them increase in Rank. New spells meant new increases to his wallet.

"Hello again, Mage Wells," Helena Teft greeted as Damion entered her family store. To her credit, she did not freeze up or hesitate when she saw Phil perched on Damion's shoulder. "To what do we owe the honor?"

"I have some more Demonic Beasts I need processed."

"Another Arcdotus?"

"Nothing quite that big. Though I do have an Emperor Chalco Beetle and a Rhampholeon that needs processing," Damion told her.

Since Damion had been the instrumental one in killing the two Demonic Beasts in the Unstable Breach, he had been granted their spoils at the cost of giving up a few of his Slash Rat kills to the rest of his former team. A D Rank and a C Rank Demonic Beast in exchange for a few E Ranks, the decision had been an easy one.

"And now many Demonic Beast carcasses are you needing processed today?" Helena asked without missing a beat.

"Let me think, I have around 270, 280, something like that."

When Damion told her that he had almost 300 Demonic Beasts to be processed Helena nearly blacked out. How could a C Rank have killed so many Demonic Beasts? Was this young Ice mage some kind of bloodthirsty monster?

"Might I ask, how did you obtain so many?" Helena asked once she collected herself.

"I cleared an Unstable Breach and the Holy Forest dungeon."

"It seems we will need to go to the intake room again. Will you be keeping any of the materials?"

Damion followed Helena through their warehouse area and to the processing room as they talked.

"I want to keep all of the cores, and the Light and Holy affinity materials once processed."

"And will you be trading any of the materials for artifacts?"

"Trading, no. But I would like to use some of the value of the materials to repair my armor. The rest, I would like to use to purchase additional cores."

"Additional cores?" Helena was confused.

The young man was growing rapidly, she could hardly imagine him needing cores to use as supplements to absorb mana faster. Besides, he was an Ice mage, Ice affinity cores were not very common, and she did not have many in stock. The new dungeon in Levande provided Ice affinity cores, but the new dungeon had yet to flood the market with cores as the large noble families were buying up most of the cores that came out of the dungeon.

"Yes, as many as I can afford," Damion told her.

"Well, with what you have brought in, you can easily buy up all the Demonic Cores of Ice affinity we have. If you want more, you'll have to deal with nobles."

"What is the most common type of core available in Argentum?" Damion asked. He was more concerned with quantity than quality. He still was not certain of the exchange rate of cores to credits, but he was certain of one thing, more cores meant more credits.

"Fire, Earth, Water and Light are the most common Demonic Beast Cores. Holy affinity cores are fairly common too, but since artificers prefer to use Holy affinity materials for healing artifacts over Light affinity, Holy has a bit more of a demand and cost more."

"Well, let's see how much what I have is worth," Damion said as he started unloading his personal spatial storage and Magic System Inventory.

He dumped out the spatial stretching bag filled with Slash Rat carcasses first. They were all E Rank Demonic Beasts. After the calculations were done in the exam area, Damion had ended up with 120 of the Slash Rat carcasses. These were the lowest valued carcasses he had, not just because they were E Rank Earth affinity Demonic Beasts, but because most of the carcasses were damaged. Between Damion's Ice, Geoffrey's Fire and Thomas' Wind attacks, there were very few of the carcasses that were not mangled, burned or cut to pieces.

Next Damion began to pull out his Light affinity Demonic Beast carcasses. 28 F Rank, 35 E Rank, 51 D Rank and 11 C Rank. Then he pulled out the Holy affinity ones, 6 F Rank, 11 E Rank 9 D Rank and 4 C Rank.

When Damion finally brought out the D Rank Emperor Chalco Beetle and C Rank Rhampholeon, Helena was beside herself with the value of what Damion had brought in. 277 Demonic Beast carcasses. 16 of which were C Rank.

"This really is quite the haul you brought in. It will take a while for everything to be processed. You said you needed your armor repaired, let's take a look at it shall we."
