Chapter 239 – The Mysteries of the Iblis
"Shall we make camp for the night?" Ronald asked looking around to each of his teammates.
It was already late in the day, and having spent most of it walking and fighting, Ronald was more than ready to relax for a time. And if he could enjoy the protection of the group while doing so, even better.
Damion had no issue with setting up camp. He wanted to pitch his tent and take a look at what the mysterious B Rank had given him. While the others were discussing the best place to make camp, he pulled out his tent and furniture and claimed a spot in the clearing. When the others saw him just make camp, instead of discussing it, they decided to follow his lead.
After bringing out his tent and climbing in, Damion closed his eyes and looked carefully at the fresh notifications from the Magic System. The encounter with the B Rank, had triggered quite the revelation to Damion and his quest to Discover the Flaw in Magic.
The B Rank had said there was only one 'true mage' in the group and had distinctly looked in Damion's direction. Thomas and his friends may not understand what the B Rank had meant, but he had an idea.

As much as Damion was happy to receive more quests, he did kind of wish he could finish one of these high reward quests. The Magic System did not give him much information, but he did at least confirm that the B Rank creature they encountered was an Iblis. Mage Teft had warned them that the magic of the Iblis and the Alfar was strange and powerful, now he felt he had an understanding of what that meant.
True Sight had not revealed an affinity for the Iblis, just that it was a mage. There were a couple of possible reasons for this, but the two Damion focused on were that the Iblis could block the detection of its affinity, or it did not have one. The ability to see the affinity as well as the Rank of something with True Sight was still a fairly new advancement, he had yet to figure out why he did not see his own affinities.
Now, however, it seemed he had found an answer. The Magic System had told him before, that he was capable of gaining every affinity. Did that mean the Iblis had the same capability?
Damion doubted he would find answers just by asking himself more questions. He did have one thing that might give him answers, or perhaps just a lot more questions, the spatial artifact from the Iblis.
Taking the ring out of the Magic System Inventory, he channeled a bit of mana into it to peer inside. What he found was truly shocking. Four Heavenly Enhancing Fruits.
The only time Damion had come across one of these fruits before, was in the Aerico dungeon. The goblins there had been harvesting materials and among the flora collected, was a Heavenly Wind Enhancing Fruit.

Remembering that encounter with goblins brought Damion's mind to his more recent encounter with them. They had been using a Breach to raise their young, promoting the Little Ones to a Clutch.
Now with the actions of the Iblis, giving Damion what it had collected in the B Rank Breach. This confirmed for him that the other races, goblins, Iblis and Alfar were using the Breaches just like humanity was, to gather resources and increase their strength. This told Damion a couple of things. One was that these other races were from a different world than Nerotath and not creations of the dungeons. And more importantly, they were not Demonic Beasts.
Damion had suspected as much for a while, but now he was certain. He did not know why goblins tended to be hostile to humans, but he knew firsthand that they could be friendly if they wanted. Mage Teft had warned him the Iblis and the Afar were hostile to humans as well, but clearly that was also not always the case.
This meant that there was a reason these other races were hostile to humans and now Damion thinks he figured out what it was. These races considered the Realm Breaches as their domains, at least for a time. When the Breaches first appeared, seemed to be when the other races would also appear in them. First clears and Unstable Breaches.
This let Damion guess that there was limited overlap between their realms, fostered by certain Breaches. Those Breaches the goblins, Iblis and Alfar appeared in, but did not appear again, after that overlap passed. As for the other races' appearance in labyrinth and beast waves, Damion had a theory for them as well. Those that appeared with beast waves was simple, they were expelled from those Unstable Breaches and forced, like all the Demonic Beasts and Ferocious Beasts caught up in the wave to rush towards human cities. The reason for that, was beyond his current understanding, but he felt he was moving in the right direction.
As for the appearance of the other races in labyrinths, it was because they were trapped. Labyrinths operated by different rules than dungeons. Each floor unlocked would repopulate themselves overtime. If the goblins were trapped in the labyrinth and the floor was cleared, Damion suspected the goblins were recreated by the labyrinth's core when it repopulated the floor. This theory gave him a whole host of possibilities as well, but since he had only ever been in one labyrinth it might take him a while before he could definitively prove this theory, but he had a feeling that if he could speak with the goblins on the sixteenth floor of the Argentum labyrinth, he would find out he was right.

[Quest: Learn the Truth of Magic Part 2]
[Description: You have realized the other races use Realm Breaches like humans do, but you still must discover their source. Continue your quest.]

The unexpected completion of one of his high rewarding quests made Damion choke. He had only been theorizing about what he knew and what he had observed of goblins and the other races. Despite the certainty that he was right, he had no proof. The Magic System seemed to consider this as enough to mark the quest complete though. However, the new quest did not seem to be as simple to work out. To discover the source of Realm Breaches would mean either a lot of research, speaking to the other races, who might not even know, or possibly venturing to the world of the other races to look for answers.
One hundred thousand credits were added to his account with the Magic System. The possibilities of what he could buy with all those credits was mind boggling. He could possibly buy every affinity, increase his spell slots, buy dozens of passive and active spells. The credits might just be enough to increase his magic power all the way to S Rank just from the System upgrades.
Despite the possibilities now open to him, Damion had to force himself to only look through the Magic System Shop and not buy anything right now. In fact, with the exception of maybe purchasing a few things, he felt it would be best to wait to purchase anything until after he graduated from Silver Spire.
