Chapter 150 – Time to Study
As Damion read the summary of the item he was not sure what to think. This artifact had the ability to boost his magic power. And not by just a little bit. He could only wonder how strong an A Rank or an S Rank artifact would be. Were there also artifacts that could boost his mana recovery or mana capacity as well? What about artifacts that increased his strength or another physical trait? Damion desperately wanted to buy an A Rank artifact now with the rest of his credits and see what one was capable of. Fortunately for him, since the Magic System preventing him buying above his Rank he was forced to save his credits.
Damion focused on the ring artifact in his inventory and saw two options appear. Withdraw and Equip. He mentally selected Equip and the ring vanished from his inventory. He checked his hands, but the ring had not appeared on any of his fingers.
In his mind, Damion switched from the Magic System Inventory to the Equipment screen and found the ring equipped in one of the accessory slots. Now that he confirmed the equipment he bought from the Magic System would be hidden from view and equipped through the Magic System interface Damion decided to try his old equipment and see how it interacted with the Magic System.
Taking out his leather chest armor Damion tried looking at it to see if he could get a prompt to equip it in the Magic System, but he received nothing. Next he put his armor in his Inventory and looked at it the same way he had his ring artifact. Sadly, Damion did not get a description of the armor or the option to equip it, just to withdraw it from the Inventory.
This told Damion several things, but he wanted to confirm his suspicions with the Magic System, just in case his guesses were wrong.
'System, why can't I see the description of my armor in the Inventory.'
{Only items generated by the Magic System will have their attributes displayed by default. To see attributes of non-Magic System items, upgrade your True Sight spell to B Rank.}
'True Sight will let me see what artifacts can do when I get it to B Rank?' Damion questioned the Magic System.
{Affirmative.}
"Sweet." When Damion realized he had spoken out loud he became still and listened, but it did not appear that Elicia had heard him, or she simply did not pay attention to his outburst.
'System, why can't I equip my armor to the Inventory slots?'
{Only items generated by the Magic System can be equipped to the Equipment slots.}
'Well, that confirms that,' Damion thought as he went back to looking through the Magic System Store to determine what to buy next.
Damion determined that he wanted to keep at least 2,000 credits. If he was to save credits for big future purchases, then he needed to start doing that now. Damion quickly made several purchases from the Magic System totaling 505 credits, this would leave him with more than 2,100 credits, a good start to saving for S Rank artifacts in the future.
The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement.
Damion purchased two upgrades to the Magic System Inventory, bringing up his total inventory slots to 40. He also purchased another C Rank Health Potion. This one stacked with the other C Rank Health Potion in his inventory. Damion also bought 2 E Rank Health Potions to use in case he was not in dire need of a C Rank Health Potion. And finally, Damion bought another passive spell.
{Random Passive Spell purchased for 75 Credits.}
{Generating spell…}
{Passive spell generated. Congratulations host you have obtained the spell Concealed Aura.}
[Concealed Aura – Passive – (F Rank 5 Mana P/S) While active conceals your magic aura to appear as a normal human. Skill Rank corresponds to the Rank of being you can conceal your aura from.]
Damion was not sure how he felt about the spell. Sure, it might be useful, but it would likely take a long time to increase the Rank of the spell and until it reached a high Rank it was basically useless. There was no need for Damion to hide his magical presence from things weaker than he was, if he was needing to hide, whatever he was hiding from was sure to be stronger than him.
'System, activate Concealed Aura.'
{Affirmative.}
Even if it would take the spell a long time to be useful, Damion felt it could still provide him with some credits to the Magic System Store. All he had to do was leave the spell active and it would eventually increase in rank and gift him credits.
True Sight was the same. All he had to do was leave the spell active and eventually the spell would rise to B Rank and grant him the ability to see more than just the Rank of items. Being able to determine the exact nature of artifacts would be useful and if he gained that upgrade to the spell at B Rank, Damion had to wonder what he might gain when the skill increased to A Rank or S Rank.
'System, do all spells gain functions when they increase in Rank?'
{Affirmative. Every spell becomes more powerful in some form with each increase of Rank.}
'What will True Sight gain at A Rank?'
{Error, host's Rank is too low to access requested information. Raise spell to B Rank or reach B Rank in magic power to access A Rank information.}
'I can only access information one Rank above me or if it is about a spell one Rank above the spell Rank?'
{Affirmative.}
Damion was tempted to go through each of his spells and ask the Magic System what upgrades they would receive, but he decided against it. He needed to focus on raising his magic power and increasing the mastery of his spells. Knowing would not help him, if the ability was amazing it might motivate him to work harder, but what if it was lackluster. He decided it was better to be surprised when the spells ranked up.
'System, status.'

Looking over his status, Damion was feeling somewhat satisfied with his advancements. He was still a long way from B Rank, but he would get there in time.
After closing down the Magic System menu, Damion took out his schoolbooks and started to study. His early days of being considered a boy genius were mostly due to having a grown man's soul in a child's body. Learning to read and write were taken care of by the Magic System, even learning magic seals was done by the system. If Damion wanted to keep his reputation as a boy wonder he would need to study, or he would make more mistakes like the one he made today in the battle simulator.
Damion studied throughout the afternoon and after eating the dinner Elicia prepared for him, he went back to studying. There was a lot to learn and if Damion wanted to be able to freely wander Nerotath he would need the knowledge in these books.
