Chapter 989: Raging frontline

The Red Sea

The large 2000-tonne battleships, escorted by frigates, clippers and other 1000-tonne and 1500-tonne battleships, sailed through the Red Sea like a king being escorted by his knights.

All the merchant ships in the region were immediately shocked and scared silly upon seeing such an imposing fleet sail into the depths of the Red Sea without pause. The ships coming out of the Red Sea, startled, gave way at once, while those heading in, upon noticing the pack of leviathans behind, immediately turned around, beelining for the shore without a second thought, waving white flags as they fled.

An ordinary Ottoman merchant patted his chest and let out a sigh of relief as he wiped the sweat from his drenched forehead. Yet, as he looked toward the horizon, a hint of worry remained etched on his face.

A few kilometres away, aboard a scouting vessel,

"Captain, shouldn't we do something?" a lookout asked, his voice trembling and teeth chattering, moments after reporting what he had seen.

Hearing the words of his subordinate, the man immediately glared back at him, " If you have a death wish, just kill yourself, don't drag me down with you, " he growled.

Being reprimanded so rudely, the lookout didn't look upset at all. Instead, he felt extremely relieved in his heart. He was worried that the brain of his captain would heat up and make the foolish decision of facing the enemy.

Thankfully, it looked like even though the guy was extremely eager to prove himself useful to the noble lords, he at least had the sense to protect his own life and not needlessly get killed.

Such a scene repeated multiple times throughout the Arabian Coast, where all the captains of the scouting vessels and first responder vessels did not even try to put up a resistance and simply flew up the white flag.

" What a pity, no one is trying to resist, " a colonel of the Bharatiya Navy commented with a hint of regret.

The executive officer beside the colonel was speechless. "How could they resist? Our spit alone is enough to overturn their vessels, so how would they even dare to respond?"

East Coast of the Red Sea

While the naval ships were advancing through the Red Sea, the Armed Forces were steadily marching north towards Jeddah with the ultimate goal of conquering the entire Levant Region, consisting of several countries from Vijay's last life, like Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria.

The march of tens of thousands of Bharatiya troops, joined by nearly 100,000 soldiers from the Qasimid State and the Sultanate of Mahara, struck panic and trepidation into all who bore witness.

The incident that happened on the sea, where no one dared to oppose the sailing ships, happened on land as well, where the scouts and small militia forces in the villages and towns did not even try to resist and simply gave up willingly, becoming prisoners of war.

It wasn't until the city of Jazan that there was some resistance.

" Load up the howitzers and break down the wall. "

Ramayya Senapati ordered without a change of expression.

With the order passing through the ranks and the artillery charged up, the newly developed Giri Vajra howitzer was like a shark in the ocean, ready to strike in the hilly terrain.

" Boom! "

" Boom! "

" Boom! "

One round of shelling was all it took for a breach to be created in the defence line of the city.

" Our time has come, let's dance! "

Sarvesh, holding the sword and the rifle after a long time, smiled gleefully and advanced along with the special forces, trying to flank the city, catch them off guard, infiltrate, and disassemble the defences from within.

Lalishsthan

On the northwestern frontline at the frontier region of Lalishsthan, the shelling of the artillery had already begun.

Smoothbore cannons, rifled artillery, mortars, howitzers, volley guns—you name it, everything had been brought into play in this war.

"Boom!" "Boom!" "Boom!" "Boom!"

Cannonballs rained down like a torrential storm, smashing huge dents into the defences. The air reeked of gunpowder, and the deafening explosions sounded like a grim fanfare to slaughter. People screamed, cried, growled, and cheered; they fought, killed, and died. The battlefield had become a chaotic storm of endless emotions.

After the Ottoman Empire lost all its influence in the Middle East, even though it didn't try to take back what it lost, it did fortify the defence on the border facing the Middle East to the highest level. Unfortunately, no matter how tightly the border is defended, going against the onslaught of several artillery pieces, which the enemy hasn't even heard of, is like giving spectacles to a blind man. Like, what's even the point?

At most, the strong defences will delay the Bharatiya Empire from breaching the border for a while, but unfortunately, this is like a tortoise having defences but having no way to fight back. Eventually, given enough time, the predator will definitely tear its shell apart and dig into its soft and delicious flesh.

" Change the 5th artillery battalion's position to the hill at O250. "

" Artillery Battalion 8, advance two metres forward. The defences on your side of the wall have been taken down. "

" Hey, who is operating the 3rd cannon in the sixth artillery battalion? "

" Doesn't he know how to aim? Quickly replace him and demote him to a cadet. "

Lachit Borphukan continuously barked orders as he used the telescope to see each and every aspect of the battlefield clearly.

Next to him were the other commanders, Yogendra Singh and Narasimha Nayak, but these two people did not intervene in the command of Lachit Borphukan because it was not their time yet. The three of them had decided among themselves that they would take turns and command the battlefield in shifts so that the pressure could remain steady at all times on the Ottoman Empire.

Somewhere in Russia

Dmitry was in his art room, painting, when a subordinate broke in without any prior warning. He was immediately dissatisfied and looked around, searching for his sword so that he could punish this guard who was so unruly.

The guard, looking at the expression on the emperor's face, immediately realised that he had made a grave mistake, ' Not good ', so without any greeting, he directly spouted out the message he received.

" Your majesty, the Bharatiya Empire is attacking the Ottomans. "

Dmitry immediately froze, " What- what did u say? "

" The Bharatiya Empire is attacking? "

Dmitry calmed down as if he thought of something, " Is it through their puppet kingdoms? " He felt this was most likely to be the case, but the next words that came out of the guard's mouth continued to catch him by surprise.

" No, your majesty, the intelligence states that the Bharatiya Empire has taken the initiative personally. "

" We have confirmed the news that the Ottoman Empire's rear on both sides is under attack. "

Realising what this meant, Dmitry's heart was palpitating like a person who had just run a 100 metres sprint.

Dismissing the guard and setting aside his painting halfway, a rare act, as he had taken quite a liking to painting since the plague confined him to his palace, he personally wrote a letter to his surviving generals and military officers, ordering them to prepare for another full mobilisation. At the same time, he commanded the nobles and landlords to send more serfs into the army, and directed his intelligence team to establish contact with the Bharatiya Empire at any cost, making it his top priority.

" Since the Bharatiya Empire has personally taken action, then it means that they have a way to cure the plague or at least control it to some extent. "

" If I can get hold of this secret as soon as possible, then not to mention the eastern Balkans, but the entire Balkan region and Constantinople will be mine. "

His eyes blazed with the fire of greed and ambition.

A similar situation unfolded in the Holy Roman Empire as well, where Leopold used the last bit of strength of the empire in a last-ditch effort to gain wealth and power, both for his own ambition and for the continued survival of the Holy Roman Empire, that has been riddled with countless holes due to the plague.

When the news reached the ears of the English, the French, and the Dutch, the colours on Louis, William, and Stewart's faces turned white like a piece of paper.

" Will this eastern behemoth really succeed in expanding its influence to the Mediterranean? "

" No, this can't happen. I really have to do something. "

All three monarchs thought similarly and met up in secret to discuss countermeasures.

In fact, after knowing the actions of the Bharatiya Empire, not to mention the enemies, even the allies like the Italian Federation, Portuguese, Spanish, and other smaller countries were a little wary of this eastern power that has stretched out its claws to the border of Europe.

But no one said anything about it as they waited for the big players to first make their move.
