Chapter 192: Finished construction
The construction period for Neo Orcus had finally come to pass. All the buildings and structures had finally been finished, with just the decorating and finishing touches left to be filled. The locals of Neo Orcus now had a place to call their home.
They considered themselves extremely lucky as their quality of life exceeded even that of royals and billionaires in the Queens region. After all, Neo Orcus had been built with the standards of the Nation of Reborn, with all of its useful amenities and architecture.
Not only that, but the railway system had also finished its construction, officially connecting the Queens region to the Kings region.
Of course, if one wanted to go through this train system, then they would have to avail the tollway in the Dwarven Kingdom for a reasonable price.
This meant that the Rebornians in Neo Orcus could finally return to their Nation in just a single day of travel, and vice versa.
With this connection established, the flow of products became a lot smoother. All the goods in the Kings region were made readily available to the locals of Neo Orcus. And hopefully, in the future, the rest of the Queens region would also avail of these products from this commerce hub.
Michael thanked the Engineers and Construction workers for their hard work and offered them a holiday. But, they declined.
"Don't worry, boss! We still have a lot of energy to start the Golden Road project you've been envisioning!" the Satyr Engineer said, with the rest of his comrades agreeing with his words.
Now that the basics of Neo Orcus were finished, it was time for Michael to start his venture into the Queens region. To do that, he needed to reconstruct the Golden Road which connected all the territories into one interconnected path of roads. Read latest stories on My Virtual Library Empire
This was quite a big undertaking, so it would be better to start it as soon as possible. After all, the Engineers had to make sure that the roads were earthquake-proof, given this location's propensity to give out natural disasters like it was nothing.
"Alright. Let's get to work, then!" Michael said as he looked at the big road leading towards the horizon.
Right now, this 'road' was split in half like a bread's scoring. But soon, it would become the famous 'Golden Road!', both wide and flat ready to be inhabited by merchants and businesses of all kinds.
…
…
…
As Michael oversaw the work of the Engineers, he suddenly saw something come towards them on the horizon.
With his enhanced eyesight, Michael saw a huge caravan of horse carriages, about ten of them in total.
And if he were to focus on the Light element signatures on their bodies, then he recognized a few of them to be the peddlers who had gone off to sell chocolates to the Queens region.
It seemed that business went well, seeing that they had come back so early to restock. Not only that, but they also had a few other guests with them.
He could even see a few of them marvel at the newly constructed buildings of Neo Orcus, with surprise completely visible on their faces. That was the face of someone who was proven wrong, meaning they had probably disregarded the chocolate merchants' words as nothing more than hyperbole.
But seeing the refurbished Neo Orcus for themselves was an eye-opener.
Michael waited by the entrance of the under-construction Golden Road until the caravan of merchants reached the gates.
"Sir Michael! It's good to see you again!"
The veteran peddler came out of the carriage and greeted Michael fondly. How could they not? Their coffers were filled to the brim with gold coins all because of Michael's products.
"Resupplying your stock, I hope."
"Yes, yes. We also have a few friends of ours who want to become chocolate merchants of their own."
The other merchants greeted Michael with a curt bow, with their eyes clearly in disbelief as they looked at Michael's…youth.
One by one, they introduced themselves and asked for his permission to become chocolate merchants.
"Let's talk inside," he said as he invited them to Neo Orcus.
The whole caravan of merchants followed Michael inside.
The veteran peddler caught up to Michael and pointed back at a youthful man in their midst.
"Oh, sir Michael. I hope you don't mind, but we have also brought with us a journalist from Angora City."
Michael looked back at the young man and noticed the gleam in his eyes. He held a small notebook and a pencil, ready to write down everything he was seeing as soon as his shock and awe subsided.
He approached the journalist.
"...woah…OH!...hi!" the journalist said impulsively. "Greetings, my name is Jimmy and I am an aspiring journalist who yearns to write papers that are read all around the world!"
Michael offered his hand, which Jimmy shook awkwardly.
The veteran peddler explained to him how they met Jimmy.
"You're a journalist? Interesting. What would a journalist want to learn about our Reborn company?"
Jimmy snapped out of his flusteredness and looked at Michael with all seriousness.
"Of course, it's to find out the truth! Hearing such stories about the Reborn company was too exaggerated to believe!"
Michael chuckled. "So, you believed all the rumors?"
Jimmy looked around Neo Orcus and saw glimpses of its advanced technology. Just through this simple glance, he knew that he was on the right track.
"No other journalist would. But I have a feeling that I am on to something big. So please let me see the Reborn company with my own eyes!" Jimmy said, bowing at a 90-degree angle towards Michael.
"And what would you do with that information?"
Jimmy stood straight. "I want to write about it, sir! Without any publicity, your company will not be able to spread its influence wide enough in the Queens region.
But if I can write about all your exploits and accomplishments as a business, then I am pretty sure that you can someday join the prestigious Golden 500!"
