Chapter 126: Assassination theater III

At the center of the stage, the show went on.

New waves of elves had been summoned for the guards to torture, all for the entertainment of the nobles watching.

Joyful cheers filled the air as people went on to place more bets for what they wanted to be inflicted on the elves.

"Cut off her hair and scatter it on the ground! 5000 gold coins!" one noble yelled, carrying a bag of money and throwing it right into the red box before him.

When people made their donations, they usually tossed their money into a sack and then proceeded to make their bet regarding what they wanted.

Right after one of them had made their request, another shouted, holding up her money as well,

"Shove your dick in her mouth! I want her choking on it! 7000 gold coins!"

Another voice echoed through the room, "Gouge out that dark elf's eye! 12,000 gold coins!"

One by one, they began calling out their requests while also dumping their money into the red box.

Once the money was confirmed, the guards on the stage would proceed to do their work on the chosen elves, but only after the veiled woman had given the order for them to carry on.

However, instead of carrying out the requests as they were being spoken, the veiled woman was lost in her head, causing the requests to keep piling up.

She stood at the side of the stage, her eyes constantly scanning the crowd of nobles before her.

Her thoughts bounced from one place to the other, her heart skipping multiple beats as she panicked.

To her, every other noise or activity happening around her went totally silent.

'Something is wrong here. Did someone just cast a spell? What is this dreadful feeling I am getting? Why can't I sense anything happening outside?'

At the same time, she could sense an Alchemist in the same room, someone stronger than her—a Master-ranked Mage.

Her gaze shifted to every corner of the room, trying to find who it was that was causing her blood to freeze up in fear, but no matter how hard she looked, she couldn't find the person.

Meanwhile, Seraphina, still standing next to Dorian, slowly leaned down and whispered in his ear through all the noise around them.

"I have found the Mage. It seems there is only one, most likely the one keeping the entire place in check. I presume her magic is based on Illusion or something similar. I feel we should keep her alive as well; she can help with the confession alongside Baron Telia."

Dorian paused and looked at the veiled woman, her gaze still wandering around.

'Unlike Alchemists, Mages aren't built for support but for battles and war. So if her magic type is Illusion, then there is a chance it can do more damage than just create secret pathways and so on.'

He sighed.

After thinking about it some more, he realized Seraphina was right.

Keeping the Mage alive would actually benefit them in the long run. That said, Mage classes are not to be underestimated, especially if they are Master rank or higher.

'Seraphina is an Alchemist, a class built for support. I doubt she can stand her ground against a Mage by herself.' Looking at her, he scratched the back of his head. "You and I will take care of the Mage, while Maria kills the rest of the nobles."

"Yes, my soldiers are ready and waiting for you to give the order," Maria said as she walked back into the room, a dead soldier falling to the ground right behind her.

Dorian and Seraphina turned to look at her.

With a worried chuckle, Seraphina pointed.

"I can't believe you killed all those people so fast. Warrior classes are terrifying."

"They were weak and would most likely die to a dog anyway," Maria responded quickly, the calm look on her face still present.

"Not everyone is Maria Gardina," Seraphina clapped back, shrugging her shoulders as well.

After their brief back and forth, Dorian walked into their middle and placed a hand on each of their heads.

Immediately after he did this, they both looked to the ground, their cheeks red and confused.

Seraphina was the first to raise her head. "Darling?"

"Whatever happens here, I take the full blame. I gave the order and you only followed it. Nothing more, nothing less. Is that understood?"

Knowing Dorian, arguing with him when he says something like this would lead nowhere and most likely end with him raising his voice at them. So, in order to avoid any of that, they nodded in agreement.

"Good. Then let's get on with it."

The operation had started.

While the nobles were watching the show before them, angered and confused as to why the veiled woman was no longer attending to their growing requests, the soldiers under Dorian had begun moving into place.

All the way from the back, they began murdering the nobles silently, without making even the faintest of noise.

They slit the necks of the nobles in such a way that the nobles would die so fast they would be unable to make a single sound.

In a matter of a few minutes, a huge number of nobles had met their end.

Even those in the VIP sections were slain in order for them to keep quiet and not spot the others as they were dying.

Meanwhile, Dorian, Seraphina, and Maria somehow managed to make their way behind the stage after slaughtering every guard stationed to keep people out.

When they arrived at the back, they found about 12 elves tied to the side of the room.

Some were etched with fear while others were willing to do whatever it took to escape from this hellhole.

While Maria stood at the very front, watching through a small opening in the curtain, allowing her to see everything that was happening on stage, Seraphina took it upon herself to release the elves who had been tied up.

Though they were frightened, that didn't stop them from seeing that the three individuals who showed up out of nowhere didn't mean them any harm whatsoever.

At the same time, Dorian had his back resting on the wall as he watched the multiple notifications pop up in front of him.

[Assassination Talent]

[Murder Threat Talent]

'I don't think I have ever extracted a talent skill before. Well, not that I need it anyway. I have the Chosen God power I haven't explored yet. I can do all this once I have finished up here.'

Slowly, Dorian shifted his gaze away from his system and towards the elves as they packed themselves into one corner of the room, all while looking at him.

Then Seraphina uttered, "They look to be in perfect health, but the spell casted on them is not something I can shatter without studying it first."

Dorian narrowed his gaze.

[The skill Analysis has been activated.]
