Reborn as the Blissful Wife in the countryside

Chapter 540: Buy Them All

Third Grandpa frowned upon hearing this, snorting in disbelief, thinking they still tried to deceive him! Yet, since the two children were unharmed and had helped save someone, admitting their mistakes, he could not scold them any further.

Remembering what Gu Jinli had said about saving Qiu Lang's sister, he pondered for a moment and said, "This matter should be let known to Qiu Lang and the rest."

Gu Jinli nodded in agreement, "Third Grandpa, I was just about to ask him a few questions."

Upon hearing this, Old Uncle Cheng immediately brought Qiu Lang and his four companions over.

The questioner was still Gu Jinli. She wanted Qiu Lang and his compatriots to understand who their future master was.

She sat in the chair on the left side of the main hall, staring at Qiu Lang and said, "I'll give you a chance, explain everything about yourselves clearly."

Qiu Lang and the others were startled, but Qiu Lang, being clever, quickly understood and immediately knelt down to beg for forgiveness: "Please forgive me, young master, I know my mistake."

Gu Jinli: "What is the mistake?"

Qiu Lang: "The mistake is not handling family affairs carefully, letting it trouble the young master."

The government's Slave Registration Book stated that Qiu Lang and the others hailed from the escort agency, fleeing famine. They sold themselves due to urgent need for medicine money to save a gravely ill family member.

Thus, they didn't exactly hide the fact about their family's illness, they just admitted the error of not managing family affairs stably.

Qiu Lang's response seemed to satisfy Gu Jinli, yet she said, "Continue."

Qiu Lang paused, then continued, "The mistake was in thinking I could outsmart by concealing our martial skills."

He quickly explained: "It wasn't intentional. We were afraid that if we accidentally defeated a guest, we would be blamed by the government's people and, if we offended a guest, no one would buy us, and we might be sold far away, even to the mines. That's why we held back."

"Come out," San Lang walked out of the main hall and stood in the courtyard waiting for them.

Qiu Lang and the others did not go out immediately but looked at Gu Jinli: "Young Master?"

Gu Jinli nodded, "Go out, this is your last chance."

She and Qin San Lang had noticed during their time at the government enforcement office that they went down too quickly.

Hearing this, Qiu Lang and the others immediately stood up and charged at Qin San Lang.

This time, the five exerted their full strength but were still no match for Qin San Lang. They had the ferocity of men who had seen blood, but Qin San Lang had more. After knocking down Xiangzi, Danian, and Ah Duo, he then focused all his force to engage with Feng Jin and Qiu Lang.

Gu Jinli stood on the veranda of the main hall, taking notice of that Feng Jin, yet Qin San Lang still managed to defeat him within fifteen minutes, leaving only Qiu Lang standing.

Qiu Lang was shocked, already aware of the Young Master Qin's incredible martial prowess and the ferocity of someone accustomed to bloodshed. He hadn't expected that they, with all their combined strength, would still be sequentially defeated by him.

Qin San Lang swiftly turned around, his hand now holding a long saber, and threw the saber to Qiu Lang, "I allow you to use a saber."

Third Grandpa, watching anxiously, shouted, "San Lang, no! Do not hurt yourself."

A saber that long could be lethal if it struck.

Meanwhile, Qin San Lang had another Dagger in his hand. While warding off the attacking Qiu Lang, he responded to Third Grandpa, "Third Grandpa, don't worry. It won't hurt me."

Qiu Lang's swordsmanship was good, and he was strong. When the blades clashed, Qin San Lang felt a slight numbness in his palms. But Qiu Lang fared worse, being shaken by Qin San Lang's formidable arm strength and forced to step back a few paces.

After another quarter of an hour, Qin San Lang snatched the long sword from Qiu Lang's hand, twisted it with a snap, dislocating Qiu Lang's arm, then kicked his calf, forcing Qiu Lang to kneel on the ground with a heavy thud as his kneecap smashed onto the floor.

Qiu Lang cried out in pain and admitted total defeat.

Qin San Lang grabbed Qiu Lang's dislocated arm fiercely and lifted it up, snapping it back into place with a crack.

He pulled Qiu Lang back up and said to Gu Jinli in the corridor, "Not bad, the purchase was worth it."

That was a worthwhile deal.

Gu Jinli smiled, but quickly erased the smile and said to Qiu Lang and his group, "Come in."

After paying their respects to Qin San Lang with a bow, they hurriedly followed him inside and knelt down again quite sensibly.

Gu Jinli watched them, his voice was slow but carried a pressing warning, "Remember, if you dare to conceal anything from us again, you will not have the chance to explain."

Though there were no bloody words spoken, Qiu Lang and his group knew that if they dared to transgress again, death would be their punishment.

"Yes~," they responded, their voices tinged with fear.

Gu Jinli then spoke about Sister Li and her group, "When we came back, two of those who were less severely ill had awoken, the other four hadn't. Sister Li's condition is serious, it might damage her brain, whether she will become foolish, we'll have to see after she wakes."

Qiu Lang almost collapsed to the ground upon hearing this, unable to accept the possibility of Sister Li becoming foolish, yet he still choked up with gratitude, "This servant thanks the young master for your rescue, without you, Sister Li would have probably been gone."

The other four also expressed their thanks, with Feng Jin being the happiest, for his brother Feng Lian had already awakened.

"This servant thanks the young master for his life-saving grace!" Feng Jin, who looked a bit fierce and usually didn't say much, now kowtowed to Gu Jinli, sincerely grateful.

Gu Jinli had no objections to Feng Jin, a youth who could sell himself to save his family, even if he looked fierce, his heart was not bad.

"Get up, everyone. Tomorrow morning, follow us to West City to have a look," Gu Jinli finished speaking and had Old Uncle Cheng take them back to the servant's room.

Third Grandpa asked Gu Jinli, "Are you taking them back there?"

What if they take the chance to run away, or refuse to come back after seeing their family members in distress?

But after pondering, he felt that Qiu Lang and the others were not such people, he swallowed his words and said to Gu Jinli, "I will go with you tomorrow, the place is messy, I'm not comfortable not accompanying you."

Gu Jinli knew Third Grandpa had been scared tonight, she didn't object and smiled, "Okay."

Third Grandpa was elderly and always went to bed early, by now he was extremely tired, he instructed Gu Jinli with a few words, and then went back to his guest room to sleep with a lantern.

The servants of Jiang Residence brought hot meals for Gu Jinli and Qin San Lang, both dug into their food. Daya asked, "Xiao Yu, are you interested in Qiu Lang's companions?"

This girl Xiao Yu looked cheerful but was actually cold-hearted, she wouldn't have gone through so much effort for a bunch of strangers unless she saw potential in Qiu Lang''s companions.

Gu Jinli nodded, swallowed the food in her mouth, and said, "They still have twenty people there, all somewhat skilled and good-natured. My pharmaceutical workshop needs people to make medicine, buying them would be worthwhile."

Daya asked, "Would they be willing to sell themselves?"

After all, they were not born to a Good Register family, none of these children would willingly become servants.

Gu Jinli smiled, "They definitely would not have agreed when they first fled from famine, but after experiencing severe hardships, they would now rather sell themselves to stay together than be separated again."
