Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 178: Unscrupulous Veterinarian

```
It happened in the blink of an eye, the puppy with its sharp teeth and snappy mouth actually managed to bite down on the vet's arm, showing a very ferocious demeanor.
If it hadn't been for the onset of winter, which meant the vet was wearing clothes under his white coat, this bite from the puppy might have caused an injury.
Huo Sining feigned helplessness on his face, but quickly scooped up the dog from the vet's reach, the corners of his mouth involuntarily curving into a slight smile.
What a spirited little fellow, able to discern right from wrong at such a young age. It'll probably be even more impressive when it grows up.
Huo Sining was inwardly delighted and grew especially fond of this perceptive little creature. Thinking of the Jingba his uncle raised at home, he figured bringing this little guy back to keep the small Jingba company wouldn't be a bad idea.
After refusing the vet, Huo Sining decided to take matters into his own hands, using the Yunnan Baiyao Spray the vet handed to him to treat the puppy's surface wound, then wrapped the injured area with a bandage. Having done all this, Huo Sining was ready to leave, carrying the puppy.
"Miss, are you really not going to have surgery performed on this dog? I'm not trying to scare you, but your dog is seriously ill. If you delay, it might be too late for remedies, and you'll regret it when it's too late," the vet said.
Seeing Huo Sining about to leave, the vet couldn't let go and called out to her, trying to scare her again in hopes that Huo Sining would relent.
Too late for remedies? If you really performed the surgery and opened up this puppy's stomach to remove the treasure, wouldn't that be the real point of no return?
"A true healer has a heart of benevolence," Huo Sining said coldly.
"Even though you are a vet, I still respect you as a doctor. If you wear this white coat, you should uphold benevolence."
An icy look flickered in Huo Sining's eyes as he turned back and stared directly at the doctor:
"Is my dog really suffering from pneumonia, and why do you keep exaggerating the severity of its condition and insist on surgery right now? We both know your true intentions."
"I don't expose you out of respect for your dignity, but as for what's inside this dog's belly, I'm afraid it's not for you to covet!"
The vet had intended to spout more alarming nonsense, but upon hearing Huo Sining's words, he was so frightened that his face turned pale and his expression drastically changed.
He looked at Huo Sining uncertainly, opened his mouth as if to argue, but was silenced by Huo Sining's sharp gaze and couldn't utter a word.
"Don't try to explain it as a misunderstanding; no one would believe such nonsense," Huo Sining said.
With a faint smile, Huo Sining's eyes sharply fixed on the doctor like a hawk eyeing its prey.
The middle-aged doctor felt his heartbeat quicken and hung his head guiltily.
All his schemes had been seen through by someone else, and yet he was blissfully unaware, ridiculous like a clown thinking he was clever in front of others.
Seeing the doctor's reaction, Huo Sining smiled satisfactorily, turned and walked a few steps towards the exit, then suddenly turned back and said sarcastically, "You treat dogs, you should know they also have a sense of human nature. It's clear to see, my dog doesn't like you very much!"
Qin Shaoyou had not interrupted while Huo Sining and the vet were exchanging veiled words, as he could not make head nor tail of it. So, after getting into the car, he couldn't help but ask, "What did you mean by what you said to the vet? Is there something inside this dog's stomach?"
Huo Sining calmly replied, "Probably, I don't know either."
Qin Shaoyou was stunned: "Then how do you know that vet wanted to harm it? Didn't you say earlier that this dog doesn't have pneumonia?"
```

Huo Sining looked innocent, "I had no idea, I just said that on purpose. I thought that veterinary clinic was so shabby, the medical equipment so old, it's simply impossible for them to perform surgery on pets. So, I tried to probe him on purpose, wanting to see if he was lying. And as a result, he gave himself away."

As she spoke, Huo Sining raised her eyebrows and lifted her chin in a smug way. The meaning in her eyes was clear, she wanted to ask Qin Shaoyou, "Well, how about it, I'm smart, right?"

Qin Shaoyou's mouth twitched slightly, his eyes clearly conveying disbelief in Huo Sining's perfunctory excuse.

Qin Shaoyou had also more or less understood the conversation between Huo Sining and that doctor.

That veterinarian must have been talking nonsense, deliberately exaggerating the puppy's condition to mislead Huo Sining, hoping she would opt for surgery at the hospital. It seemed he had an ulterior motive.

But for a puppy barely clinging to life, what could be the hidden agenda?

Qin Shaoyou was puzzled. He clearly heard Huo Sining mentioning something in the dog's belly, and said that it wasn't something that the doctor could covet. There definitely was a problem!

Qin Shaoyou felt there must be a backstory he was unaware of, but Huo Sining remained tight-lipped.

Qin Shaoyou indeed wanted to find out the full story, but since the angelfish incident, he had come to a clear realization.

It was that Huo Sining, this girl from Sichuan Province, was quite formidable, not as easily fooled as those delicate girls from S City.

With Huo Sining's personality, if she didn't want to speak, all his probing would be futile.

Thinking of the scene where Huo Sining fiercely handled that unscrupulous veterinarian just moments ago, Qin Shaoyou had mixed feelings.

He had a bad impression of Huo Sining from the start, deep and calculating, not at all like an eighteen or nineteen-year-old girl as he had expected.

However, Qin Shaoyou had to admit this girl was clear-headed, calm in handling affairs, and savvy, just like a wise and rational businesswoman.

Qin Shaoyou knew Huo Sining was an orphan, with both parents deceased, having grown up in her uncle's home, which piqued his curiosity about the mysterious old beggar she mentioned.

What kind of master could have raised such a fierce daughter?

Back in S City, Qin Shaoyou helped deliver the ornamental fish that Huo Sining had brought into Xianyu Shop while Huo Sining hurried home to her school district villa with the puppy.

Upon entering the house, she saw the stray Jingba that Su Qingqing had picked up, circling Master Huang in the yard.

The Jingba had thrived over this period, its fur looking much healthier due to the occasional fatty bones thrown by Mr. Huang. Its stature had completely changed, and now it was treating Huo Sining's villa as its domain, joyfully running around the yard every day.

Seeing Huo Sining's return, the Jingba greeted her as usual, wagging its tail, about to paw at Huo Sining's trouser legs.

However, to Huo Sining's surprise, at the moment the Jingba pounced, the puppy in her arms, as if sensing its status was threatened, suddenly leapt from Huo Sining's embrace onto the ground, glaring at the Jingba with menacing eyes and emitting a low growl as a warning.

The Jingba was startled by this sudden intruder and though it wanted to bark a few times to assert its dominance, it cowered the moment it saw the sinister look in the puppy's eyes.

The Jingba obediently relinquished its top-dog status and retreated to the background, its ears drooping as it slunk tail-between-legs into the house, not daring to come out again.
