Reborn as Issei Hyoudou: The Phat to Supremacy

Chapter 10: Chapter 10: The Fall of Raynare

The church was silent.

The only sound was the crackling energy radiating from my palm.

Violet tendrils of Hakai curled around my fingers, pulsing with the raw power of erasure.

And Raynare?

She was frozen.

Her smug confidence was gone.

She felt it. The weight of something beyond magic, beyond demonic power—beyond anything she could comprehend.

Something that shouldn't exist in this world.

And she knew.

She was going to die.

I stepped forward, slowly, deliberately.

"Last chance," I said, my voice calm. "Leave. Now."

Raynare's lips curled into a snarl.

"Arrogant little—"

She moved.

A spear of light erupted in her hand as she lunged, faster than a human could react.

But I wasn't human.

I tilted my head slightly—

The spear missed.

I caught her wrist with my free hand, stopping her momentum instantly.

Raynare's eyes widened. "Wha—"

I clenched.

CRACK.

She screamed.

Her wrist snapped like a twig.

I let go, and she stumbled back, clutching her shattered arm.

"Y-You…" Her voice trembled, eyes wide with disbelief.

I flexed my fingers. "Told you to leave."

She ignored the pain.

She lashed out again, flaring her wings, summoning another light spear.

Faster. More desperate.

I sighed.

And then—

I raised my hand.

A sphere of Hakai formed at my fingertips, crackling with pure erasure.

I flicked it forward—gently.

The moment it touched her spear—

Gone.

Not destroyed. Not broken.

Erased.

Raynare let out a shaky breath.

She was shaking.

Her whole body trembled as she stumbled backward.

"This… this isn't possible," she whispered.

I tilted my head. "You done?"

Her face twisted into something ugly.

And then—

She screamed.

Light exploded from her body, her wings flaring to full size.

"I WON'T LOSE TO A LOWLY DEVIL!"

The air shook.

She was pouring everything she had into this final attack.

Her aura flared, light spears manifesting in the air around her—

Dozens. Hundreds.

A storm of pure destruction.

She threw them all at once.

A wave of light, faster than bullets, powerful enough to turn an entire building to dust.

I exhaled.

And then—

I raised my hand.

Hakai expanded.

A pulse of violet energy spread outward from my fingertips, a silent wave of absolute dominance.

And the moment the first spear touched it—

Everything vanished.

The entire attack ceased to exist.

Raynare's eyes widened in horror.

I lowered my hand.

"Yeah," I muttered. "That's what I thought."

She took a step back.

Then another.

And then—

She turned to run.

I didn't let her.

I moved.

Faster than thought.

One moment, I was standing still.

The next—

I was in front of her.

She barely had time to react before my fist slammed into her gut.

BOOM.

The impact sent her crashing through the church wall, her body tumbling across the ground.

She coughed, blood spilling from her lips, her vision blurry.

She tried to stand.

Her legs gave out.

I walked toward her, slow, deliberate.

She looked up at me, and for the first time—

She didn't see a devil.

She saw a monster.

"You…" she whispered, her voice weak. "What… are you?"

I crouched down, staring into her wide, terrified eyes.

"You wouldn't understand."

She shivered.

She knew I could end her.

Right now.

No struggle. No fight.

She was helpless.

She gritted her teeth. "Then… just kill me already."

I blinked.

Oh.

She was serious.

I tilted my head. "Why?"

Raynare froze.

I kept my gaze on hers. "Why do you want to die?"

She clenched her fists. "I failed. Azazel won't forgive failure. If you don't kill me… he will."

Ah.

Now that was interesting.

Azazel.

The Governor General of the Fallen Angels.

The man who wasn't even directly involved in this mission.

Which meant…

Raynare had no backup.

No reinforcements. No second chances.

I could see it now. The way her shoulders trembled, the way her lips pressed together.

She was scared.

Not of me.

Of them.

Of what awaited her if she went back.

I hummed, considering.

Then—

I made a decision.

"Fine."

Raynare blinked.

I stepped back. "Then don't go back."

Her eyes widened. "What?"

I smirked. "You think Azazel will kill you? Then don't let him. Stay here. Work for me instead."

She stared at me.

She wasn't expecting that.

Hell, even I wasn't expecting that.

Kiba, who had been watching from the sidelines, cleared his throat. "Uh, Issei?"

Koneko muttered, "This is new."

I ignored them. My eyes stayed on Raynare.

I wasn't doing this out of kindness.

No.

This was calculated.

Raynare was strong. Even without her magic, she had combat experience.

And more importantly—

She had connections.

If I played this right, she could be useful.

But first…

I needed to see what she would choose.

Raynare looked down at her hands.

Her fingers curled into fists.

She swallowed.

And then—

She nodded.

"…Fine."

A slow grin spread across my face.

"Good choice."

And just like that—

Raynare was mine.
