Reborn As An Extra In My Own Novel

Chapter 104: Nameless Academy [2]

"Open the gate... Open the gate, Di..."

The sound of subtle air howling echoed in Kai's mind as he rested his head on the desk, sleeping. And like an annoying mosquito in the summer, a loud voice rang through his ears.

"Jin-sung!... Cha Jin-sung!"

"Huh?" Kai muttered, rubbing his still sleepy eyes.

In front of him stood an old teacher holding a large book, teaching history class, which was by far his worst subject back on Earth.

Kai glanced left and right at the female students who were still awestruck by his appearance and the male students whose eyes brimmed with jealousy, before sighing.

"He's cute even when sleeping."

"Right?"

"Do you think he's dating anyone?"

Ignoring the side conversations from the students, Kai shifted his gaze to the teacher in front of him. He stood to his feet, lowering his torso into a bow. "I'm sorry for sleeping in class."

The teacher stared at him for a moment, then clicked his tongue. "This is why I hate pretty boys."

It had been about three hours since Kai entered the school grounds of Nameless Academy. Even then, he still couldn't get enough information about Reni or even talk to her.

His gaze briefly turned to her, a soft smile playing at his lips. In this world she was nicknamed: The Cold Villainess of the Academy.

Kai didn't know how she'd earned that title, but knowing Reni, it made sense. She was, after all, cold to those who weren't close to her.

Beyond that, Kai had discovered certain things about her soul sea, like how some humans in her world were more human than others, in the sense that most of the humans felt like hollow shells while others felt like living, breathing humans.

By using Gobo to search around, he was able to figure out why. No matter how much he examined it, it appeared that humans were indeed trapped in her soul sea just like them, since their classmates were also present and were among the few who didn't seem like fabricated beings.

This made Kai question a lot.

Was it that something like this had happened before, which caused Reni to absorb many people? And if it did happen, why hadn't she told anyone? And why exactly did it happen in the first place?

But since he had no answers or way of knowing, he had to drop it. 'There still is time left.'

Kai's problem in all this wasn't the fact that he had little to no information or that he hadn't written any plot point like this, but because he didn't know how time moved in respect to that of the outside world.

That meant he had to finish things quickly, since there was still a chance that time moved slower in here, though he doubted it.

Kai rubbed his temples. 'And this strange dream, was it two weeks ago that I first had it?'

He sighed. 'First, I have to talk with Reni...' He shook his head. 'How the hell am I even meant to do that?'

Kai grimaced.

This wasn't going to be an easy mission to complete, and he still had to go through the awakening ceremony if he wanted to access the full power of his Saint Army, not even talking about Star of Ruin, which he couldn't even use.

'One damn problem after another.'

-----

The rest of the day went by without any hitches, and before Kai knew it, break time had arrived.

"You're Jin-sung, right? My name is Jessica."

Kai lifted his gaze to the female student with black hair and eyes, then smiled softly. "I'm Cha Jin-sung. Nice to meet you."

"Oh my God! He looks even hotter up close."

Several girls in the class had formed a barricade around him, leaving no space for him to move.

They began introducing themselves one after another, and Kai had to keep up his smile throughout their chatter.

After they finished, one of the girls with long blonde hair and golden eyes, who even by Meltonia's standards was incredibly beautiful, clung to his arm.

"So, do you want to go to the cafeteria together?"

Kai smiled awkwardly, trying to shake off the girl's grip, then shifted his gaze to Reni, who was about to leave the room. "Sorry... I have a prior appointment."

The young lady pouted. "Really..." She leaned closer. "Is it because of the Ice Queen? No, should I say... Princess Frieren Hohenzollern?"

Kai's gaze darkened, his smile fading.

Looking at the girl a second time, Kai immediately noticed the lingering mana particles moving within her.

The young lady grinned. "Don't you think it's quite unruly for a gentleman to gaze at a lady with such fury, right, Kaiser Vanguard?"

Kai didn't need anyone to tell him who she was, not after what she said.

He smiled. "I can't greet you properly, but still... Kaiser Vanguard greets the Second Princess of the Empire, Morgan Hohenzollern."

The young lady grinned widely. "You do know how to be a gentleman after all. Let's go somewhere else. I can't keep whispering."

Kai stood to his feet and followed the young maiden, who still had her arm linked with his.

'What is the princess even doing here?' he thought.

"I got trapped in here as a child, or rather a teenager..." Morgan paused. "I should thank my sister though. Because of her, I haven't aged a day. Don't you think I look quite young and beautiful?"

Kai's eyes widened.

"Yes, I can read your mind," Morgan replied with a giggle.

"Is this your spiritual ability?"

"You could say that..." She pulled him by the arm into one of the empty classrooms. "Let's move here."

Kai followed her patiently. He was already in need of information, and no matter how crazy the princess was or how absurd the situation, he still needed to talk with her.

After they entered the dark classroom, the princess sat on one of the desks, her hands resting on her crossed legs.

"So tell me, Kaiser, what exactly are you doing here?"

Kai stared at her for a moment, then dragged a chair and sat facing her. "I could ask you the same thing."

The princess's eyes narrowed. "You're not from our world, right?"

Kai smiled. "Yes, I'm not..." He continued, "And you work for the demonic humans, don't you?"

She smiled widely. "Yes, I do."

Kai already knew about the princess all too well. He was, after all, the author of THD. However, according to the original plot he had written, Morgan was meant to be missing during this time. She was supposed to appear later, after Reni's death, become a tremendous help to the demonic humans, and eventually die at the hands of Matt after she killed Amy.

In that moment, all Kai wanted to do was strangle her to death, but he knew that wasn't the wisest plan.

He still wasn't sure how the mechanics of this world worked, and he needed information. Turning her into a saint was still an option, but he doubted she would submit to him that easily.

There was also the possibility that she might betray him if they worked together, or worse, take hostages from their class. Still, he had to take the risk.

After a brief silence, Morgan finally spoke up. "So are we working together or not? I still need to get out of this hellhole and kill my father."

Kai didn't say a word. Morgan was a manipulative person who would do anything to achieve her goals. She was like an insane version of Reni, one who didn't care if her humanity disappeared.

"Why do you think I would join hands with a demon?"

The princess leaned back on the desk. "Why are you speaking like you aren't a demon too? Actually, you have more demon blood than I ever could."

"And so what?"

The princess smiled. "If you think I'd betray you, then you don't need to fear." She raised her hand, showing him a tattoo on the back of her palm. "I can't disobey anyone with direct lineage to the Demon God. That was the contract I made with your aunt."

Kai wasn't surprised that Morgan knew so much about him. In fact, he had expected it. She was a telepath and a dangerous one at that. Even the most profound mind vestiges did little to nothing to stop her authority. That meant, in the entirety of Meltonia, Morgan held the most information.

Morgan's blonde hair swayed gently to the side. "You know it too, don't you? You need me, and I need you."

"Tch."

Kai clicked his tongue. She was right. He needed her, and she needed him.

He was strong but in need of information. She, on the other hand, was weak but held more knowledge than anyone else.

"So, how about it?"

"That would depend on how much you know."

"Aww... Are you going to ask for my number next?"

"Yes," Kai said firmly. "If we are indeed working together, I will need your contact info."

Morgan shook her head. "I don't know how my little sister ended up with a knight like you... She might become the first wife out of many."

Kai frowned. "Knight?"

Morgan stared at him, her eyes widening in shock. "Did you not know?"

"Know what?"

Morgan's shocked expression turned into a stern frown. "If you didn't know anything, then why are you here?"

She stood from the desk and pulled Kai by the tie so their faces met. "Didn't my father send you?"

"What? I've never met the Emperor before."

"Then how did you get in here?"

Kai was starting to feel confused by her words. "Do you mean to say that you, and the countless humans inside this world, entered here with a purpose?"

Her gaze lingered on Kai's calm pale lilac eyes, then she sighed. "Seems you really don't know anything." She pondered for a moment. "I think that would be for the best."

"How so?"

She stepped outside the door, glanced to her left and right, then entered back inside. "This isn't just a soul sea. It's a trial made by the Mad King to test Frieren's obsession."

Kai frowned. "Her obsession?"

Morgan nodded. "Yes—you. Or to be exact, the dream of her knight. The Lilac Knight bathed in roses, with the strength of a thousand men, and the beauty of a hundred jades... You, Kaiser Vanguard, the Weaver of Life."
