Chapter 16: 16 Awakening of Power
The air crackled with tension, the scarlet sky casting an ominous glow on the advancing Eradicators. Their metallic armor gleamed coldly as they closed in, relentless and merciless.
Shen Yuchen clenched his fists, feeling the surge of energy coursing through his veins—raw, untamed, and infinitely powerful.
Su Wan-ning gripped her dagger tightly, her sharp eyes scanning their surroundings. "We need a plan," she urged, her voice steady despite the looming danger.
The virtual figure hovering nearby remained calm, its tone commanding yet distant. "There is no time for plans. Trust your instincts, Shen Yuchen. The Core Domain responds to your will now."
Before he could question further, a searing beam of energy shot toward them. Acting purely on instinct, Shen Yuchen thrust his hands forward. Threads of glowing code surged from his fingertips, forming a shimmering barrier that absorbed the blast.
His breath hitched—did he just do that?
"You're learning quickly," the figure observed, nodding in approval. "But defense alone won't save you."
Another Eradicator leaped into the air, wielding twin plasma blades that slashed downward with lethal precision. Shen Yuchen's mind raced. Without thinking, he swept his hand sideways, conjuring a glowing whip of data crackling with energy.
The assailant barely dodged, losing his left arm in a burst of sparks.
"Not bad for a first attempt," Su Wan-ning commented, spinning gracefully as her dagger found its mark, striking a second attacker with lethal precision.
As more Eradicators advanced, Shen Yuchen realized the true nature of his powers: the Core Domain wasn't just a digital world—it was a living system waiting for him to rewrite its rules.
His mind burned with possibilities. What if...
He spread his fingers wide, envisioning the battlefield as lines of data. Instantly, shimmering geometric symbols appeared beneath the enemies, locking them in place with radiant chains of light.
"Command confirmed," an automated system voice echoed from nowhere.
The Eradicators struggled, their weapons sparking against the unyielding bonds.
Breathing hard, Shen Yuchen staggered back, overwhelmed by the mental strain. The power was immense—but so was the cost of wielding it. His vision blurred, and he fought to stay conscious.
"Stay with me!" Su Wan-ning rushed to his side, shielding him from another incoming blast. "We're not done yet!"
Suddenly, the virtual figure's voice darkened. "The Eradicators are merely pawns… He is coming."
Before they could react, a bone-chilling hum resonated through the air. The sky twisted violently, splitting open as jagged bolts of violet lightning crackled through the void.
From within emerged a towering figure clad in dark, segmented armor. Its face was obscured by a featureless, emotionless mask that radiated an overwhelming sense of dread.
"Designation: Entity Zero," the cold, mechanical system voice announced.
Shen Yuchen's blood ran cold. The sheer weight of its presence pressed down on him, suffocating and absolute.
Entity Zero slowly raised an armored hand, and the digital terrain around them fractured like glass, reshaping into a warped, twisted battlefield.
"Final warning," the mechanical voice intoned. "Return to data oblivion... or be purged."
Shen Yuchen clenched his fists, forcing himself to suppress the rising panic. "I'm not going anywhere."
The masked figure remained motionless for a beat—then charged forward with terrifying speed, shattering the ground beneath its feet.
