Chapter 482: Regret to Death
Li Yuchun's eyes lit up when she heard the news. She immediately let Haohao go to Hong Lan's room to play with the other kids.
Turning back, she eagerly asked, "Open what kind of shop?"
Fang Pingying shared her thoughts with Li Yuchun, "My pastry shop might need to open a branch, but I don't have the time and energy to manage it myself. I'm thinking of letting Fang Xiu take charge, since she's been working in the shop all along and knows everything about it. Besides, you all can afford the initial capital, so it's worth considering."
Upon hearing about opening the same kind of shop as Fang Pingying's, Li Yuchun was overjoyed and quickly inquired, "Pingying, how much money can your pastry shop actually make in a month?"
"Didn't Fang Xiu tell you?" Fang Pingying asked her with a smile.
"She didn't say. She only mentioned that the business is doing okay, but didn't give specifics." Li Yuchun shook her head. "She doesn't like me asking about these things."
Fang Pingying silently approved of Fang Xiu's discretion in not discussing shop matters with anyone, not even family members.
However, she did not hide anything from Li Yuchun and said, "My shop has been open for quite some time and the customer base is stable. Earning a few thousand yuan a month is certainly on the high side."
"That much, considering the shop doesn't look that big?" After saying that, Li Yuchun asked with anticipation, "If Fang Xiu opens a shop, can she also make that much a month?"
"It's not certain; it all depends on how she runs it and whether she can endure hardships." Fang Pingying slightly understated the earning figures, "If she manages well, making a thousand or eight hundred yuan a month should be no problem at all."
Hearing this, Li Yuchun immediately clapped her thigh with a laugh, very pleased. "Then that's great! I don't even need a thousand or eight hundred; even three or four hundred a month would make life so much better at home."
Seeing her say this, Fang Pingying smiled, "Okay, let's get dad, Xiu'er, Guangsheng and the rest together tonight, and we'll talk about opening the shop."
Li Yuchun hesitated when she heard Fang Pingying mention calling Zhou Guangsheng, the smile on her face pausing for a moment, "Call Guangsheng over too?"
Fang Pingying was puzzled, "What, do you still see him as an outsider?"
"It's not that, but since they aren't married yet, it's better to avoid involving him in certain things." Li Yuchun had her own thoughts. "Besides, this shop is something you're setting up for your sister. In the future, Fang Xiu will be managing it herself. Even after Guangsheng and Fang Xiu get married, Guangsheng will probably be like Zhiyong, too busy with military affairs every day and won't have time to help Xiu'er manage. So, in the end, it'll just be our own family dealing with everything, why let him know about it."
Fang Pingying understood Li Yuchun's intention, which was to prevent Zhou Guangsheng from knowing how much money Fang Xiu could make and what ideas he might have in the future.
Fang Pingying felt Zhou Guangsheng was not that kind of person and tried to persuade Li Yuchun, "Mom, it feels too much like treating him as an outsider. If Guangsheng finds out, it might even affect their relationship."
Li Yuchun was silent at first; after a while, she looked at Fang Pingying and said, "Pingying, don't be offended by my blunt words. The fact is, I often talk with your dad and mom about your family's situation."
"Look at you; you work so hard, but the money you earn still ends up supporting the entire Luo Family, including Zhiyong."
Fang Pingying glanced towards the room where Luo Honglan was, signaling her not to continue, "Mom."
Li Yuchun also glanced that way and lowered her voice, "Do you realize that the only reason you're so tired is because you're too naive and not cautious enough? You tell Luo Zhiyong everything about your business, and he knows all about it."
"Knowing this, he might not say anything outwardly, but deep down he might think your family doesn't lack money now. He wouldn't mind you giving more to your parents and siblings. If you were too frugal, he might even resent you for it."
"And, in case something happens between you two in the future, the Luo Family could even come to take a share of your property. You'd have to divide everything with him."
Every time Li Yuchun said this, Fang Pingying would rebut her and defend Luo Zhiyong. However, today, considering Luo Honglan was at home, saying too much might let her overhear, which wouldn't be good.
She did not continue the conversation and just stopped Li Yuchun, "Mom, it's not like that. Zhiyong has a job, and the money he earns is enough to cover the family's daily expenses. It's not like he's relying on me for support."
Li Yuchun scoffed and said, "Let me ask you, if not for your earnings, could the Luo Family elders live a good life? Would they be as comfortable as they are now, and then still act so entitled?"
Fang Pingying didn't want to discuss the Luo Family any further and waved her hand at Li Yuchun, "Enough, let's not keep bringing up these things. It's the same old talk."
Li Yuchun knew Fang Pingying didn't want to hear it, so she stopped and started talking about what she wanted for Fang Xiu. "Ah, I'll no longer talk about your family's situation. After all, you'd already gotten married to Luo Zhi after making money. There was no choice. Now I really regret it."
Then, she began talking about Fang Xiu. "But Xiu'er and Guangsheng aren't married yet. I still need to be cautious. I'm not afraid of anything else; I just worry that Zhou Guangsheng's family might be the same. I know his family isn't well-off. If they turn out to be like the Luo Family, demanding money from her once they know she can earn it, wouldn't Fang Xiu be worn out?"
Fang Pingying hadn't met Zhou Guangsheng's family and couldn't speak for sure, indeed, it's possible that could happen.
Moreover, with Luo Honglan at home, she didn't say much more and only suggested, "Discuss it with Fang Xiu and see what she thinks."
When evening came and the family discussed the matter, taking advantage of the fact that Luo Zhiyong was out for the night and had called to say he was dining at a comrade's home and would be late.
Fang Pingying received the call and was somewhat puzzled. Usually, Luo Zhiyong would bring his comrades home for dinner, so it was unusual for him to go to his comrade's home and say he would return late.
Moreover, Luo Zhiyong's voice on the phone sounded different than usual.
But Fang Pingying didn't have time to ask, as Luo Zhiyong had already hung up.
Perfectly, Fang Xiu and the others had all come over. Fang Pingying discussed with them about letting Fang Xiu open a shop.
Of course, it was clear that Fang Pingying was deliberately giving Fang Xiu the opportunity to make money. Considering the current success of Fang Pingying's pastry shop, opening another one would surely be profitable. Fang Pingying would have the funds for a franchise, but she was just looking after Fang Xiu and Fang Ping'an's well-being, hoping their lives would be even better.
No discussion was really needed; everyone agreed to open the shop.
