Chapter 437: Afraid of Future Troubles
Then Li Yuchun, remembering that Luo Zhiyong and his group hadn't yet entered the door when Li Aihua had said something, immediately returned to that topic, "Right, Aihua, didn't you just mention something about introducing a guy to Fang Xiu?"
"Yes, yes, that's right. I almost forgot if you hadn't reminded me," Li Aihua smacked her forehead, continuing with the conversation she hadn't finished before, "It's like this: there's a teacher in my school, in his thirties this year. His wife passed away from illness a couple of years ago, and he has a six-year-old child. He's a decent person, and I think he's quite suitable for Fang Xiu."
Hearing Li Aihua had a suitable person to introduce to Fang Xiu, Li Yuchun was quite happy, but when she heard it was a teacher, she hesitated a bit, "It's a teacher from your school, huh? Would he be interested in our Fang Xiu?"
Li Aihua smiled at Li Yuchun, comforting her, "Don't worry, he said he just wants a wife who's considerate and content with a peaceful life. He doesn't care about one's standing or household registration."
"If that's really the case, it might be worth a try." Li Yuchun thought for a moment, calling Fang Xiu, who was sitting on the sofa watching TV, over, "Xiu'er, come here, I have something to tell you."
Fang Xiu, leaving her kid with Fang Ping'an, walked over with a smile, "What's up?"
Li Yuchun whispered, "Aunt Aihua said she found someone for you, a teacher at her school, sounds pretty suited for you, how about we set a date to meet?"
"Mom, didn't I tell you? I don't want to find anyone recently. I just want to concentrate on working and taking care of Haohao," Fang Xiu was reluctant, but considering that it was Li Aihua who introduced the guy, she explained with a smile, "Besides, I'm sure the teacher from your school wouldn't be interested in me, Aunt Aihua. I don't want to embarrass myself."
Li Aihua was very enthusiastic about matchmaking, pushing Fang Xiu gently with a smile, "Silly child, there's nothing to be embarrassed about. Go have a look, and if it's not a match, I'll find someone else for you."
Hearing this, Fang Xiu found it difficult to refuse and reluctantly agreed, "Alright then, I'll check it out."
When Fang Xiu said this, Luo Zhiyong, Zhou Guangsheng, and Instructor Su came out from another room.
The study wasn't far from the dining room, so everyone in the study could hear what Fang Pingying and the others were talking about.
After coming out, Luo Zhiyong said with a smile, "Fang Xiu, go have a look. If the person's alright, then start dating and see how it goes."
Maybe because she felt awkward around the strangers like Instructor Su and Zhou Guangsheng, Fang Xiu turned her head away, not wanting to continue the topic.
On the side, Zhou Guangsheng, after coming out from the study, glanced at Fang Xiu several times but didn't speak.
After having dinner at Luo Zhiyong's place, Instructor Su and Chief Zhou sat for a while and then bid their goodbyes. Before leaving, Fang Pingying noticed that Zhou Guangsheng and Fang Xiu exchanged a few words. They were nothing significant, but they seemed to have gotten familiar with one another.
Truth be told, if Fang Xiu and Zhou Guangsheng really could become a pair, Fang Pingying actually thought it would be great, and it would be Fang Xiu's good fortune.
However, Fang Pingying was very worried about whether Zhou Guangsheng could accept Fang Xiu's past.
After all, Fang Xiu had not only divorced Luo Zhiming, but the issue with her child's paternity had never been clarified. Fang Pingying feared there might be problems in the future.
If this came out later, considering that Zhou Guangsheng had already gone through Bai Jing's ordeal, she wondered if he'd be able to accommodate all these issues.
Li Aihua had been waiting in Fang Pingying's home, Luo Zhiyong offered to take her back or to call Zhao Longsheng to pick her up, but she refused, saying she'd stay a bit longer, waiting for a call from Zhou Yunmei.
Not sure if it was because Li Aihua didn't give up easily, or because Fang Pingying knew Zhou Yunmei too well, the family's phone indeed rang around eight in the evening.
Li Aihua heard it, her body perked up, and she immediately sat beside the sofa to pick up the call.
This puzzled Luo Zhiyong, who had no idea what his mother-in-law was up to. But Fang Pingying and Li Yu knew, they exchanged a glance and let her be.
As soon as Li Aihua picked up the phone, she recognized it was Zhou Yunmei's voice, but she still deliberately asked, "Who's this?"
Zhou Yunmei, on the other line, recognized Li Aihua's voice instantly. She had already braced herself for a fight and replied irritably, "Me."
Li Aihua sneered, "How should I know who you are? Tell me your name."
Zhou Yunmei countered, "Then who are you?"
Li Aihua casually responded, "I am Pingying's mother."
Hearing this, Zhou Yunmei mimicked Li Aihua's tone, "I am Zhiyong's mother."
Li Aihua chuckled, and then straightening up, asked deliberately, "So Zhiyong's mother, why did you call?"
Zhou Yunmei wanted to curse someone out, but being on the phone, it wasn't as straightforward as in person. Impatiently, she said, "Tell Zhiyong to take the phone. I don't care to speak with you."
Li Aihua laughed sardonically, saying plainly, "You think I care to talk to you? I'm just afraid you'll cause trouble and then get my daughter and son-in-law into a fight."
Then, Li Aihua continued, "You should know your own behavior. Every time you call or come to the provincial city, it ends up in a fight or an altercation. The fights themselves are beginning to fear you."
"You..." Zhou Yunmei couldn't muster up a response over the phone, and eventually just shouted, "I already said that won't happen this time. I just need to ask Zhiyong about some things."
Li Aihua heard this, smirked, and thinking that Zhou Yunmei probably wanted to make a fuss but felt embarrassed now because of her previous words, handed the phone to Luo Zhiyong, "It's your mother."
Luo Zhiyong, hearing Li Aihua answering the phone, knew it was his own mother and got a headache at the thought of these two clashing. It was like fire meeting dynamite; he dreaded they might singe the telephone line.
Luckily, the two didn't argue much, and Luo Zhiyong, taking over the phone, breathed a sigh of relief.
But as soon as he brought the phone to his ear, just saying "hello," Zhou Yunmei's voice blared from the other end, "Who is your mother-in-law cursing at, who the hell is she talking about?"
"It's not like that," Luo Zhiyong hurriedly explained, fearing Li Aihua might hear, "She meant to say it's my mother's call, just omitted the rest of the sentence." Luo Zhiyong quickly changed the subject, "Mom, what's the matter, calling so late?"
Zhou Yunmei then remembered the purpose of her call and promptly asked, "Your siblings have all returned. Why haven't you come home?"
Luo Zhiyong replied, "I can't get leave from the army, I'm too busy."
With that, Zhou Yunmei started to grumble discontentedly on the phone, and her complaints were all pointed at Fang Pingying, "Too busy my foot. I think it's your wife holding a grudge over your brother's past deeds. She doesn't want to come back herself and won't let you bring my grandson either, is that it?"
