Chapter 1549: Memory Fragments 2
-----
The girl cried a few tears as Christopher walked toward her and cleansed them for her.
"It's alright… Hey, I got a manga myself. Want to check it?"
"E-Eh? But… you're such… such a dork…"
"Huh?! Where did that come from?"
"Hahah…"
"What are you laughing at, nerd? Hahah…"
Both friends laughed that day, read manga, then went out to buy merch of their favorite characters.
Despite everything, they were still friends…
The girl's feelings for the young man continued to grow over time, over the years.
She slowly tried to improve, to look prettier for him, to at least attempt to look more presentable.
To see if she could ever earn his love as well…
But she was nervous and didn't really know how to express these things.
Yeah, until she confessed to him, and their friendship ended that day.
The young man looked shocked, as if he could never have imagined she liked him.
He felt weird and ended up cutting his connections with her once they entered separate colleges.
The girl at that time ended up being heartbroken.
But right now…
"Ooh, that's the figure of Ninja Hanzo! It's on discount, right?"
"Yeah… do you have money?"
"I got some savings, but I'm missing two bucks…"
"I-If you buy me lunch tomorrow, I'll help you out."
"Really?! Thanks, Fran! You're the best!"
"D-Don't mention it… heheh…"
Right now, at this moment, none of that has happened yet, and their friendship has not been broken by stupid things.
They were happy, living their life as young people should.
I always thought he liked me, but I was wrong… I was selfish. I thought this was all just so we could end up in a relationship.
I ended up ruining everything because of my own selfishness, because I couldn't see him beyond a romantic interest, but as a friend, a person.
He never saw me as someone he loved romantically, but… kind of like a sister, at most.
And that was fine too. I was stupid…
I shouldn't have made him feel disgusted or weirded out when I confessed to him and all of that…
I ruined the friendship of my dear friend, the first real friend I ever had.
But right now, as the fragment of this moment floated toward my hands, I realized that even then, these memories remained.
And the memories of this happiness, of those little moments with my dear friend.
I'll always treasure them, the same way I treasure those moments with my father, even when he left us afterward and never returned.
The laughter of my younger self, the gentle smile of Christopher, all encapsulated within this crystal in my hands.

[Evolution Time Left: 6 Hours, 12 Minutes.]
"I'm finally done with the second… It took so long."
It took me a while to find it. It was hidden so deep within my Soulscape. I had to use various items from the Friendship Points shop to find this scene.
This Memory, well-holed within my mind.
But now, with two of them, I did feel more complete, like something within me was beginning to blossom.
Now I must find the third and last fragment, and evolve… I could feel it. The battles had not ended yet.
I had to hurry up…
Even if I must spend more of these points, screw it!

[You have exchanged 6000 Friendship Points.]
[You have purchased [Dream-Visiting Magic Orb (A Grade)]!]
[You have purchased [Together Strong Band (B Grade)]!]
[You have purchased [Clue-Finding Magnifying Glass (B Grade)]!]
With all three items, I activated them all at the same time.
The Dream-Visiting Magic Orb allowed me to enter the Dreams of others, and in this Soulscape, it helped me move faster across the Ocean of Memories, finding the proper fragment.
Then, using the Clue-Finding Magnifying Glass, I looked for clues around me, which often glowed as bright particles of gold and white color.
And through the power of the Together Strong Band, a special combo could be created, combining both items' effects and creating a powerful device.
FLUOSH!
The combined item effects expanded my vision and started turning and warping the city into an ocean of memories, constantly helping me move through them as I sought the Memory Fragment.
It took me a while to find it before, but this time I had to hurry! I could not be slow!
Where could it be?
I could see the particles, and I followed them, but the path was too long…
"Hurry, please hurry!"
I continued moving, faster and faster. I could see so many images, deep memories I thought I had forgotten by now, but that resurfaced as I dug through them.
Until…
FLASH! FLASH!
Both Memory Fragments glowed, somehow reacting to the third one.
"Over there?"
I turned to my left, rushing toward the skies and then descending as quickly as I could.
"This…! This is it!"
And when I landed on my destination, what I found was… the Library?
"I see…"
This was the place where I died in my first life.
After having lived a mostly pathetic life… to think I would also die pretty pathetically.
This was where it all started, my journey to Yggdrasil, then my second life and now my third life.
After dying, I actually got a pretty nice life at the beginning. I was born in a rich family. I had powerful magic and even got a super handsome boyfriend, Jonathan.
I was living my best life, to be honest…
And yet, it all fell apart because I never stopped to think about the implications of being in another, completely alien world.
Their history, and the monsters lurking in every corner… I thought I was the protagonist of the whole world, and nothing could ever go wrong.
That everything would always go my way…
Hah, how wrong I was…
