Chapter 1528: The Monkey King's Dream
-----
FLUOOOSH!
In that second, the Nyoibo transformed, glowing brightly and gaining countless regal decorations resembling clouds and coiling dragons. It resembled a true Treasure of the Gods.
This was its true form… and now, Cheng Xie was going to go all-out.
"IMPOSSIBLE…! WHEN DID HE…?! THIS DIDN'T HAPPEN IN THE ORIGINAL TIMELINE!"
Indeed, it did not. It never happened in any other timeline, actually.
The reason? Cheng Xie was caught off-guard and killed before he could use his pole properly, or the world ended before he could even fight.
But now? There was no way he would miss the chance.
"Grow, Nyoibo! To the skies and beyond!"
Cheng Xie roared. His pole glowed brightly, dazzling golden light erupted, and sparkles of light resembling stars engulfed his surroundings.
In a second, the gigantic pole reached the atmosphere and then the stratosphere, appearing above the planet itself as a gold and red pole, glowing with divine power.
"W-WHA…?! WHAT?!"
The Original Nightmare Curse couldn't believe what he was seeing.
"Look up into the skies, demon! You're about to face my true power!"
Cheng Xie laughed as the massive pole rushed down, defying all logic. The titanic weapon slammed into the Original Nightmare Curse's head and even his true body outside, destroying everything surrounding its fall.
BOOOMMM!!!
The city trembled. Dozens of buildings fell one after another, crumbling apart. Outside the city, the land was flattened, and even the sea trembled as a large pole-shaped crater appeared through it.
And yet, Cheng Xie had avoided killing any person. He knew there was nobody in his way and went for one of his strongest attacks right away.
"UUUGGGH?! AGH!"
The second half of the Original Nightmare Curse screamed in agony as the pole hit him with immense force and passed through his ethereal body, hurting his very soul.
Maria and the rest were left speechless. This wasn't what they expected would happen… but they all glanced down to where the attack came from. Cheng Xie was there, waving his hand at them with a friendly smile.
"T-That was Cheng Xie?!" Emeraldine cried. "W-Was he that strong before?!"
"No…!" Partner said. "There's no way… what… what the fuck was that?!"
Even the Divine Beings from another World were shocked at the strength of this individual and of his mysterious and incredible weapon. Maria smiled viciously at the scene, realizing that perhaps the humans of this world weren't so bad!
"Looks like he weakened him for us! Let's continue! Don't stop attacking him!"
Maria commanded, her swarm of thunderous insects attacking her foe as the Original Nightmare Curse recoiled in agony and annoyance…
Meanwhile, down below, Cheng Xie looked at what remained of his foe, a pile of broken pieces… and yet, they reassembled rapidly, regenerating and fully reappearing once more, as if nothing had ever happened to him before.
"YOU DAMN… MONKEY…! YOU DARE…! YOU TRULY DARE…!"
"Oho! I see, so you're still alive. Regeneration, huh? Yeah, I might have gone too soft on you, sorry about that. That move is too destructive, though. Let's go for a smaller form."
Cheng Xie leaped toward the Avatar of the Original Nightmare Curse. The Nyoibo became "smaller," although still tremendously big, reaching a hundred meters in length as it rushed toward him while extending itself limitlessly.
"Let's go, Nyoibo! Don't let me down now!"
RUMBLE!
The pole glowed with divine light, clashing against the Bodhisattva-like Avatar of the Original Nightmare Curse. His palms blazed with golden and black flames as he clashed against the young man's weapon, explosions of corrupted energies and divinity erupting constantly.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
"Heh!"
Cheng Xie smiled as he clashed against this impossible foe. His eyes glowed bright gold as his Aura continued to resonate… every blow with his Nyoibo unlocked something within him… not just his Dream Heart, but something even deeper.
Each blow, each attack, each explosion…
"Ooh boy, I can feel it now… Grandpa, it's coming out now."
His eyes glowed as he felt fur growing on his arms, around his neck, and even something popping out from his back…
A tail.
As he battled, something deep within him began to be unsealed, the true power he had inherited from People's Dreams.
Something that took him years to master and also seal away due to how dangerous it was!
His power was so great that the Government of China feared he could destroy the entire country, which was why he was forced to seal his power and only use it when truly necessary…
Cheng Xie remembered his grandfather's guidance, his master, throughout his life.
One day, when he was looking at the waterfall in a large mountain area where he and his grandpa lived most of their childhood, his grandfather spoke to him.
Even back then, he was already an old man with a bald head and a long beard, with eyes that always seemed to be closed. He had a serene expression, and yet he was quite the cranky old man and very strict.
"Listen well, Cheng Xie… you must know that the power you hold is not only yours, son."
The two glanced at the scene before them. Four mountains had been blown away, flattened when Cheng Xie went wild against a Nightmare Realm that appeared there. Nightmares resembling ancient Chinese demons had emerged, and he went completely wild, destroying them all.
But because of that, the level of destruction he had caused was simply ridiculous… beyond human!
Cheng Xie was both amazed and afraid of what he was capable of, looking to his grandfather for guidance, his only family member left alive.
"It's not?"
"No…"
His grandfather smiled back at him.
"I am very proud of what you've achieved, and you should be proud as well… but this power you have is not just yours. It belongs to everyone. It was born from the dreams of all the people of our country and of, well, all of Asia perhaps, and beyond."
"…Really?"
The boy's eyes were filled with wonder and awe at the power he was carrying within him.
