"Mama! Mama please wake up! It's dinner time! Mamaaaa!"

I slowly opened my eyes, as I heard my daughter's voice. My mind didn't feel as exhausted, and my thoughts were more uniform. Although I don't experience exhaustion like other people, I can tell I'm tired when even my own thoughts make little sense.

"Ah, Nyx… How long did I sleep?"

"Like two hours! Let's eat with the family!"

"R-Right… Yeah let's eat."

I nodded happily, stretching my arms and yawning, and then I walked to the bathroom, washing my face with cold water.

Looking at myself in the mirror, I had changed so much… Sometimes it was hard to recognize myself, and it made me a bit sad.

Where did Fran start, and where did Maria end? It felt like there wasn't a clear line between who I was and who I am now.

And yet… I suppose that's still me.

"…"

I touched the mirror for a moment, feeling slight existential dread.

I guess depression and these thoughts come with being a ghost.

Even after evolving and becoming "something alive" these ghostly traits remain a bit.

I technically am still a Cursed Being.

Perhaps that's why the Nightmares are so similar to me, huh? And I am technically similar to them as well.

We are all Curses.

"Mommy? What's wrong?"

And yet, these dark thoughts taking over my mind dissipated instantly, my daughter's soft voice brought light to my mind, and I felt happy to have her here.

"Nothing~ I'm alright. Come here!"

"Huh? Uwah!"

She was surprised as I grabbed her and lifted her from the ground, hugging my baby and kissing her all over her face.

"Mama loves you more than anything! Mooch, mooch, mooch!"

"Hehehe! I know! I love mama too!"

Nyx kissed my nose, and hugged me back, her long tail wrapping around my body.

I felt so happy I hugged her and kissed her forehead.

Right, I have her, I have my baby here.

I can't be feeling all down and depressed, right?

"Alright! Let's go have a meal then, what do we eat?" I wondered. "Where's everyone else?"

"Outside!" Nyx said. "Auntie Emeraldine said she wanted to go eat out, there's a lot of restaurants we could try… What do you think?"

"Oh sure! I hadn't thought about it but that's perfect!" I nodded. "Let's go then!"

We walked out of my room, finding Lucifer, Emeraldine, Partner, Jonathan, Nia, Celes, Arthur, and Arachne out. Sofia, Alma, Emily, and the rest weren't around though. I guess it would be better if they didn't join us, so we can talk more freely without keeping secrets.

"You're finally awake, sleeping princess," Lucifer joked with me. "Nyx had a hard time waking up?"

"Yeah! Mama always has such a heavy sleep!" Nyx said, flying towards her father and landing in his arms.

"Did you sleep well, dear?" Emeraldine wondered, walking to my side and hugging me gently. "You were very tired, weren't you?"

"Quite so…" I yawned. "But weren't you tired as well? You went through a lot today; I expected you would want to sleep…"

"Nah, we're starving," Partner said. "I want some blood and also a snack by the side!" She walked to my side as well, playfully biting my neck.

"Hahah… W-Well, we could do something later tonight," I smiled. "But for now, yeah, let's go eat. And here, I got you what you needed, love."

I gave Partner a Blood Potion I had prepared beforehand; I had a huge stock of these for her. She happily grabbed it and drank it fully, licking her lips.

Blood Potions are better than normal blood because the blood won't go bad, first of all, and also because it is more nutritious than raw blood.

Like this I can also get Partner to get other essential vitamins and minerals.

"Let's go, I'm starving and I really want to eat something…" Arthur yawned, it seemed he was also taking a nap before.

"Alright, alright~!" I nodded.

We walked out of the school while ignoring what was happening outside, there was a lot of commotion, teachers giving interviews to TV people and stuff, but we didn't care about such things.

We moved through the streets, until we reached the big city of the island, which was actually called "Resort City", this City, aside from having such a prestigious Academy, was a touristic spot from this region of the world, and people from all over the world constantly visited it.

We learned several things from just walking around, how the big the city was and also the restaurants. We weren't quite decisive yet, so we looked at them for a while. Nyx wanted to eat burgers and cakes, Partner wanted meat above all else, Lucifer agreed, although he also said he wanted hamburgers. Emeraldine said salad was fine for her. Arthur was up for anything and grew constantly angrier the more indecisive we were.

At the end, we checked our phones with him and then saw the restaurants with the best reviews, choosing a family restaurant that sold about anything, but that also specialized on grilled meat of all sorts.

It was called "Peter's Grill", and it was just what we wanted, it was unfortunately full though.

"I'm sorry but we really don't have any more seats…" He sighed. "You could wait until one seat is unoccupied, but I doubt it'll be any time soon…"

The receptionist sighed as he glanced at large group of old men drinking and laughing. they had finished their meals hours ago and were just drinking alcohol.

"You can surely do that somewhere else, right? Let my family eat here. Leave."

I sent a mental command to their very souls. Weakling humans like them, imprinted with my ghostly orders into their souls, had to simply obey.

"You know what? Let's go somewhere else to drink ourselves to death!"

"Yeah good idea I agree!"

"Sure! Why not?!"

They quickly walked away from the restaurant without even paying, which made the receptionist, and several people chase them around.

"Hey, wait a bit you haven't paid yet!"

"Come back please!"

"We'll call the cops!"

Buuuut we got the seats!
