Rebirth: Super gene

Two more birds, one red and one gray, rushed towards the green falcon, each bearing their talons.

"Perfect, I was wondering where we would find super creatures, and three of them just happen to fall from the sky," Bian said with a smile.

"You and Man Tian are severely injured. When it's time, I will take care of them," Han Yan said.

The Empirical Aura could sense all the creatures but couldn't determine their strength.

If she attacked now and the other super creatures were scared off, their gain would be lesser.

"Let's wait and watch then," Man Tian said, and Bian nodded.

The red bird set the air on fire, scorching the feathers of the gray and green birds. As the red bird grabbed the golden scale, an earth spike nearly punctured its wings.

A rat as big as a house, covered in an earthly aura, launched stone spears from the ground. The red bird didn't bother attacking and instead flew up, avoiding the attacks of the ground rat.

The green falcon and gray condor weren't so keen on letting the red bird escape. The green falcon attacked it with wind blades, while the gray condor shook off some feathers which flew towards the red bird.

The target of their attacks avoided the wind blades and burnt the gray feathers. Several minutes had passed with no new creature revealing itself.

Han Yan stood up and moved closer to her target. She was hundreds of meters away from the ground rat, just close enough to get the beast into the range of her dongxuan aura.

Shee struck out with the blade of the golden vambrace. There was no ripple or shockwave, but still, a long gash appeared on the neck of the ground rat, revealing the bone within.

The creature was frightened, about to drill into the ground to escape, but another slash came out of nowhere and decapitated the foul beast.

Its body disappeared, leaving behind a dirt-brown life essence.

"Nice job. We can't risk Tyrant attacking because it would blow up the bodies." Bian was willing to bet that at least one of these creatures would be a second generation and would leave behind a body.

The ground rat also wasn't that far. Han Yan had moved closer to bring it within the range of the dongxuan sutra and learn its energy flow.

Bian was severely injured, but he was not incapacitated. He had gathered three beast souls of phoenix-type creatures when he met Han Yan. These beast souls were shape-shifting beast souls, and Bian had given one to Man Tian and Han Yan each.

His fitness was high enough to contend with super creatures without shape-shifting, but now he had to use the beast soul to get closer to the birds in the sky.

A pair of golden feathers appeared behind Bian as his body morphed to that of a human-sized raven.

He flew up and away, passing by several goldfish which were also flying after the three birds.

The three birds were like a force of destruction, lighting up the bright sky with different attacks. They spotted Bian and weren't so keen on having another contender.

Gray feathers, wind arcs, and fireballs flew towards him as he used heavenly go and the dongxuan movement to maneuver against the attacks.

The air was a three-dimensional space, giving Bian a chance to avoid several attacks as he focused on getting closer to the three birds.

Earlier they had slowed down to attack him with the barrage of attacks, but now they stopped altogether and gathered one big area-of-effect attack.

"Isn't this a bit excessive?" Bian was in no mood to get into another battle. Once he was close enough to learn their energy flow, he studied it for a few seconds and retreated.

The birds weren't so keen on letting him off, though. They shot out a combined attack which looked like a sea of fire, fanned by destructive winds and filled with sharp feathers.

It was like a wave of water coming at Bian full force and filled with rocks. Worst of all, the attack was approaching him faster than he was retreating.

'DEFY!'

A thought popped up in Bian's head, to go against the inevitable attack, but he ignored it.

Tyrant had already stood up, swinging out the halberd in a sweeping attack.

A horizontal ray traveled through the air almost instantly, going above Bian's head and colliding with the AOE attack behind him.

Boom!

The ensuing explosion knocked him away, causing him to tumble mid-air and transform back to his human form. He saw a figure approaching and turned back.

Han Yan reached out and caught him with one hand while swinging out three times with the other.

Despite the distance between her and the three birds of prey, three clean cuts appeared through their necks.

Be as it may that she killed all four super creatures, Han Yan didn't receive a single announcement.

That was because every creature that died in the Empirical Aura was counted as Bian's kill and guaranteed him the beast soul.

The flying fish rushed into the air, with one fish particularly faster than the others.

It managed to reach the golden scale, causing the item to embed itself onto its chest.

The glow of the sun was dwarfed by the transformation taking place as the sacred-blood goldfish evolved to become a super Dragon Fish King.

Back at the shelter, Bian used the beast soul of the copper throne, which was a doll type. The doll type could fill in a spirit stone space and would appear as that spirit, cast in copper.

Bian was too fatigued to entertain the incarnation of Varkal. He gave orders for the shelter to begin its movements towards a new location. He went to meet up with Han Yan and Man Tian.

"You went out for wool but came back shorn." Xie Qing King came out of his rooms wearing brown shorts, a flower top, and sunglasses.

"You should have seen the other guy," Man Tian laughed before heading back to the alliance for some treatment.

Han Yan meanwhile shared the life essence they had received. The three birds' life essences were given to Bian, while the ground rat and the copper throne life essences were kept for herself.

The body of the gray condor and green falcon remained after death, so Han Yan summoned the little angel, and with no further instructions, she indulged in the meal before her.

"Shouldn't you also go to the hospital?" Han Yan asked.

Bian just shrugged and said, "I'll heal in a couple of weeks. No need for all that."

He also didn't want Executioner Black to know he was going for Executioner Green. It was better to remain in the sanctuaries than have his movements tracked by Ouyang Ming.

While Han Yan absorbed the two life essences, Bian had a brief discussion with Xie Qing King.

Honestly, he was just a chill guy. He agreed to help Bian in the sanctuaries, and Bian also promised to keep him updated with the curiosities of the alliance.

He briefly mentioned that productions might be affected by the ongoing war and they were going to kill the person responsible for such a horrible war.

"And this Executioner Green is stronger than even Emperor Spirits?" Xie Qing King was basically on board for throwing hands, but not committing suicide.

"Yes, which is why I brought this." Bian brought out one of the two remaining Aqua Fruits and gave it to Xie Qing King.

"Is that... the Aqua Fruit?" Xie Qing King recognized the fruit, which didn't come as a surprise to Bian since he was thousands of years old.

Finally, he saved the last one for the golden growler. He would wait for it to open one more gene lock and supplement the Aqua Fruit with other treasures to help it unlock its tenth gene lock in one go.

'I can get several good treasures from ghost mountain without even fighting. Once the creatures there know how close I am with the silver fox, they will give me those treasures I need.'

'The only issue would be the ghost fox, which is intangible to damage.'

Bian sat down and absorbed the three life essences in front of him.

He felt his injuries rapidly recovering as his super gene points skyrocketed to seventy-eight.

Han Yan had a drastic increase in fitness as well. Her super gene points had reached ninety-seven, three points away from completion.

"With my new experiences, I feel the gene locks on my body coming free. I should be able to unlock my ninth self-gene lock and also the seventh gene lock of the dongxuan sutra." While Bian was recovering, he couldn't exert his body, but that didn't stop him from meditating and unlocking more of his gene locks.

Xie Qing King was also digesting the Aqua Fruit. Once he was done, they might have to start calling him Xie Qing Emperor.
