Rebirth: Super gene

Chapter 126: Nine gene locks opened

"A melody?" Bian didn't expect the first attack from Big Mara to be a song.

It was like a thousand choristers were performing in perfect harmony. The hymn could be heard across the shattered shelter.

"The power of a song lies not in its loudness, but in the unity of its echoes."

Thud!

A Devil Fang beast fell to the ground. Soon several more began to drop like flies.

Bian felt his consciousness sway. He struggled to regain control, but it proved to be a futile attempt as the luster in his eyes soon faded away.

White smoke flowed from the nostrils of the Strength Overlord as it remained unperturbed by the enchanting song. Instead, it charged straight at Big Mara with the intent to destroy.

"Unsummon everything." A melodious voice was heard amidst the harmonious music.

Instantly, all his armor and other beast souls were gone, save for the Strength Overlord which impossibly seemed to defy his orders.

Unfortunately, it had to pay a price for its actions. Its movement and powers were severely suppressed; it could only muster twenty percent of its total strength.

"Rip them to shreds!" The enchanting voice spoke out again.

All the beasts in the shelter instantly rose to their feet; thousands of them rushed at Bian and the Strength Overlord.

Tyrant could easily dismember the little miscreants, even with only one-fifth of its original powers.

A single move from him would create devastating shockwaves, devastating and outright killing most of the sacred-blood beasts.

After a few blows, the landscape around him had changed from a destroyed shelter to a bomb testing zone. The ground was littered with craters, formed by the impact of his blows.

Bian, meanwhile, could not resist at all, and yet the beasts were unable to harm him even without his armor.

Their claws and fangs ripped through his clothes but failed to leave even a scratch on his skin.

Jadebody, which was connected to the body pillar, was still active. The same was true for the soul pillar.

And now, the spirit pillar began to vibrate, a certain energy building up within it.

"Useless creatures!" Big Mara frowned, her massive pointed tail moving like a whip and a snake. Its tip ripped through the space as it plunged towards Bian.

Tyrant leaped into its way to attack the tail, but a massive palm grabbed him before he could execute his plan.

With no one to hinder it, the sharp tail effortlessly pierced through the entire shelter.

A frown appeared on the face of Big Mara as she turned her head to face Bian, who was standing on top of the palace.

His eyes were still closed, meaning he wasn't awake, and yet his body stood on its feet. Although his posture was swaying, his feet remained firm, never allowing him to collapse.

Tyrant broke out of the grasp of Big Mara. He hugged her pinky finger, veins popping up on his muscles like snakes.

With a snapping sound, the armor was bent, and the bone within the finger was broken in an instant.

A loud shriek was heard as Big Mara flung Tyrant away and simultaneously stepped on the palace where Bian was standing.

Dust rose into the air as Tyrant jumped away from the debris unhurt. He landed right beside Bian, who had also escaped unscathed.

If Bian was conscious right now, he would be surprised to notice that all nine gene locks for the Three Inner Cylinders had been unlocked at this moment. He would also have been shocked by the tremendous energy used to maintain all three pillars while hyperactive.

"Impudent scum! I was planning on finishing you off quickly, but now I'll have to make sure you don't die an easy death."

Bian didn't react in the slightest to Big Mara's threat; he was unconscious after all. Tyrant, meanwhile, was amused by the threat.

With Bian being in his current state, the pressure mounted on Tyrant was no longer there.

If he could snap her finger with a fraction of his strength, then he would rip her apart at full power.

Two figures, a man and a minotaur, stood back to back on a destroyed land. Then, in the next instant, they were gone.

Bian ran up the left leg of Big Mara. The golden vambrace was augmented by both an aura beast soul and a fiery weapon add-on beast soul.

The edge of the blade dug into the armor and pierced into the copper statue within. Like a hot knife through very thick butter, he sear-carved his mark along the towering statue, leaving a molten scar.

Tyrant had no such weapons. Its hooves shattered the armor, and its horns pierced through the copper skin.

Both left a trail of destruction in their wake as they ran up Big Mara.

A loud screech could be heard as two massive hands came lunging at them.

Bian jumped through the gaps between the fingers to continue his assault, while Tyrant bent down low to gather energy.

The muscles in his calves tripled in size as he jumped off her leg, producing a loud and destructive shockwave.

Tyrant held the edge of her palm as he flew. The force of his jump was so terrifying, he twisted the palm of Big Mara, tearing the hand off the wrist in one fluid motion.

Bian, meanwhile, wasted no time attacking the body. Using Aero, Heavenly Go, Dongxuan Movement, and twenty percent of his dwindling energy, he ran straight up to her throat while she was still shocked by Tyrant ripping her hand off.

He used the Dongxuan Sutra and Emperical Aura to find her voice box and stabbed the blinding golden blade through it.

The melodious song finally stopped, and Bian was able to gain control of his body again. The spirit pillar silently went to rest.

The first thing Bian saw when he woke up was a giant palm heading to squash him like a fly.

He attempted to dodge but was shocked by how little energy he had left in his body.

'What happened to me? No, that's not important. I need to somehow block this attack!'

Bian managed to summon a super beast soul shield. Killing the steel-armored creature had granted it to him.

He didn't use it to block her attack; that would be suicidal due to her humongous size.

Instead, he set the shield firmly on the ground or whatever he was stepping on. The big hand managed to inflict more pain on Big Mara but also deformed the heavy great shield.

"One more attack, and it would have been destroyed."

Bian paused and looked at the wickedly fast tail approaching him like a whip.

'Spoke too soon!'

He blocked with the shield, but it was destroyed by the attack.

Bian was sent crashing five feet under the earth. Cracks ran across his arms, from the fingers to his shoulders.

He was so impossibly tired due to the unhindered consumption of energy.

A normal body had a limit on how much energy it could output. Past a certain level, an increase in the energy input would only result in an insignificant output.

The body parts may even be harmed by applying too much force. The bones underneath would snap, the muscles would tear, and the blood vessels would burst under too much pressure.

Bian didn't have this limitation when using the body pillar. For all intents and purposes, he became a living statue, which allowed for a sense of wholeness.

His energy output was tied directly to the input. It was so absurd to think that he could move past his limits by applying more force than necessary, but it actually worked.

'At least I've learned something new about myself.'

Bian stood up to face Big Mara, which had finally managed to rid itself of Tyrant.

Her wings spread wide, covering his whole point of view as she took flight to the dark abyss.

A warm yellow spot appeared below her abdomen. The yellow spot slowly moved up her body, becoming bigger, brighter, and hotter.

By the time the attack reached her throat, it illuminated her entire upper body.

"There's nowhere to dodge. This is the end."

Big Mara didn't say that, Bian did. He could feel it, the destructive intent of this attack was so great, it would swallow the entire shelter, burning it all to ashes.

Although not a seer, Bian's words came true the next second as Big Mara shot out a ball of hot energy.

It was a literal sun heading straight at him. It covered his entire view, mounting the pressure of a celestial body on his mind.

Gritting his teeth, Bian refused to die after trying so hard and coming so far.

The teleporter wasn't working, his jadebody could not handle such an immensely powerful attack. The Ink Sun Dragon and all his other beast souls were also useless against this attack.

Well, almost all, except the one standing beside him. Tyrant stood like a mountain, unmoved by the approaching celestial disaster.

'But honestly, what can he do barehanded? If only there was a weapon he could use—'

Bian suppressed a gasp.

'Isn't there that one?'
