Chapter 586 - 560: Early Detection and Treatment
Chapter 586: Chapter 560: Early Detection and Treatment
Xiao Qian didn’t know what had happened in the restaurant after she and Yu Minglang had left. She always felt that the boss was strangely indescribable. Today, Yu Minglang was driving, and she was sitting in the co-pilot’s seat. Xiao Qian opened the fancy wine packaging, and her eyes widened when she saw what was inside.
“Stop the car!”
“What’s wrong, Qian Bao?”
Yu Minglang parked the car at the roadside and watched as Xiao Qian took out an extraordinarily exquisite wine bottle from the paper box.
Xiao Qian carefully opened the bottle, dipped her finger in the wine inside and frowned deeply.
As the bottle opened, a fragrance filled the car which Yu Minglang could smell too.
“There’s a problem with this wine?”
“Rich, aromatic, and mellow in taste – this wine must be at least 10 years old.”
Yu Minglang had some knowledge of wine, “Isn’t Nu Er Hong Wine more valuable the older it gets? The one we just ordered probably isn’t even three years old. How could the boss be so generous? This wine must be worth over a hundred, right?”
Nu Er Hong Wine is not an especially expensive wine, and a ten-year-old bottle might cost around a hundred dollars. But they had just spent a few dollars on a meal – why would the boss be so generous?
“The wine isn’t the point; look at this bottle.”
Yu Minglang glanced at it and remembered that his uncle Qi Yue was in the jade business and had some interest in antiques. Yu Minglang got along well with his uncle and could tell a little bit about these things.
“A high-quality imitation of a pastel porcelain bottle?”
Yu Minglang recalled that he had seen a similar one in a relative’s house – a pastel porcelain bottle from the Qing Dynasty. It was tiny but valuable, even more so with the exquisite patterns and various flower and bird designs on it. It could only be expensive, not cheap.
Xiao Qian felt cold sweat dripping down her back. She had owned an identical bottle in her past life.
Until now, she couldn’t figure out what was going on with that bottle or why it had reappeared after her reincarnation.
Xiao Qian held the bottle up and, as expected, saw the same inscription on the bottom as in her past life: “Qing Dynasty Qianlong Period,” in three rows of six seal-script characters. It was exactly the same as before.
“Turn back! I want to see the restaurant owner right now and figure out what’s going on!”
Although Yu Minglang didn’t understand why Xiao Qian was so shocked, he turned the car around according to her request. However, the restaurant’s security door had already been pulled down.
Xiao Qian felt uneasy in her heart, and Yu Minglang asked,
“Qian Bao, what’s wrong?”
“There’s something wrong with the owner. This bottle is authentic, not an imitation.”
“Playing with antiques and giving them away casually?”
Yu Minglang also found it strange. The boss had been acting strangely during their meal.
“I don’t know… We can’t take this. Let’s return it tomorrow morning.”
Not only did Xiao Qian feel something was off, but even Yu Minglang felt that something was wrong.
According to common sense, giving a customer who had only spent a few dollars on a meal such an expensive wine was already very abnormal. But the container for the wine was an antique!
Were they unaware that it was an antique and had sent it out casually, or was there another hidden reason?
On the way back, Xiao Qian played with the bottle. What she thought about, though, were her memories from her past life.
In her past life, she had received the bottle one week before Xiao Wei had an accident. Her family had inexplicably received the package, along with a note inside:
I am waiting for you in another world.
At the time, Xiao Qian had thought it was a prank. She then took the bottle for identification and found out that it was an antique from the Qing Dynasty!
She hadn’t figured out who had sent the bottle before her daughter had the accident.
Now that this bottle appeared so many years earlier than it did in her past life, Xiao Qian felt an inexplicable sense of unease in her heart. Although the note that had given her the creeps in her past life was absent, she still felt very unsettled.
In her past life, she had been too preoccupied with the grief of losing her daughter to notice the oddities of the bottle. Now that she thought about it, the message on that note was extremely ominous.
Why had the bottle appeared so many years earlier this time?
Xiao Qian felt her breath becoming rapid, her chest tight, and feared her Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder was about to act up.
Yu Minglang didn’t know Xiao Qian was thinking about the events of her past life, but he could see she was feeling very uncomfortable now.
There were just too many events today.
First, a harassment call at the radio station, then Da Guang said a psycho killer had appeared in the city, and during their late-night meal they had encountered a strange boss who had given them a priceless bottle.
“Xiao Qiang, drive faster.” Xiao Qian closed her eyes, trying to adjust her breathing and suppressing her imminent disorder.
“Do you want to wash your hands?”
Yu Minglang could tell from her unusual reaction that her Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder might be about to set in.
“Yes…”
There was still some distance from their home. The radio station was close to Xiao Qian’s house, but they had insisted on going out of their way for a late-night snack, so it was still far from home.
It was already past 1 a.m., and the road was quiet. There was a park not far in front, and the summer night was very secluded.
Yu Minglang turned the steering wheel, and the car skillfully made a circle on the open road before parking in a corner behind the park.
It was pitch black with no street lights, and the sounds of cicadas could be heard through the car windows on this summer night.
Arriving here, it seemed like they had entered another world: no people, no cars, nothing.
Xiao Qian didn’t understand why he had brought her here.
“Xiao Qiang, why did you bring me here instead of taking me home?”
Xiao Qian didn’t know Yu Minglang’s intention. Under the illumination of the car’s headlights, his face looked eerily bright.
“Qian Bao, I always firmly believe one thing.”
“What?” she incredulously asks, as she is about to have an episode, and he is giving her a speech.
“We are the masters of ourselves. We can’t let illnesses control us.”
“Nonsense! That’s the idea, but can I control it?”
Her mood was not good, so Xiao Qian was a little impatient.
Many people have misconceptions about mental illnesses, thinking that they only affect those with weak self-control.
That’s nonsense.
It has nothing to do with self-control, personal qualities, or being narrow-minded.
“If you can’t control it, I can.”
“You?” Xiao Qian couldn’t figure out what riddle Yu Minglang was playing.
Yu Minglang stopped the car, turned off the headlights, and the darkness filled their eyes. Before Xiao Qian could react, she felt his warm body moving closer, his hand reaching beside the seat, and the co-pilot’s seat was flattened.
“Yu Xiaoqiang! What are you doing!”
Now, her mysterious Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder had vanished, replaced by a woman’s angry protest.
“Have you gone crazy!!!”
The angry Xiao Qian had completely forgotten about her Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder.
