Rebirth: My Wingman Turned Out to Be the Campus Belle Herself

Chapter 3:

Chapter 3: Be Realistic, Building Wealth Takes Steps:

Seeing the curious message from the enthusiastic female roommate, Chen Fan thought for a moment and replied, “Her beauty is definitely one reason!”

“But I believe there’s a lot more to admire about Yan Xinran.”

“Like what?”

“Well, she has excellent grades and a good personality, for starters.”

“You’ve never even met Yan Xinran. How would you know she has a good personality?”

“I’m guessing.”

“…”

It seemed Chen Fan’s response caught her off guard. After a few seconds of silence, the enthusiastic female roommate sent another message.

“Honestly, I think all that stuff you said about good personality and grades is just an excuse. You just find her pretty!”

“…”

“Why aren’t you saying anything? Weren’t you confident and determined just a moment ago about pursuing Yan Xinran?”

“Why hesitate to admit it now?”

Seeing her teasing response, Chen Fan replied with a hint of helplessness, “You’ve seen right through me. No point in hiding it.”

“Oh? So you admit it?”

“Admit it? Sure, why not! I was definitely drawn in by Yan Xinran’s looks.”

“Fair skin, beautiful figure, long legs, and a slim waist—my type exactly!”

“That’s why I want to pursue her!”

“…”

The roommate, who seemed taken aback by Chen Fan’s bluntness, didn’t respond for nearly half a minute. Finally, another message popped up.

“Classmate, aren’t you worried that Yan Xinran might see these straightforward words of yours?”

“If she sees them, she sees them. If I really mean it, why should I be afraid of others knowing?”

“Fear isn’t the truth.”

“…”

Fear wasn’t the truth. It seemed Chen Fan’s words struck a chord with her. She didn’t respond after that.

Chen Fan didn’t dwell on it either. He had something important to do today. While pursuing the girl he admired was one priority, his rebirth came with another mission: making money.

If one asked people how they would profit from being sent back to 2010, many would answer by investing in Bitcoin. It was true that buying a few bitcoins for a mere few dollars back then could make them a multimillionaire 10 years later. But for Chen Fan, waiting a decade to become wealthy wasn’t ideal.

Why waste time waiting?

While buying and holding Bitcoin was fine as a side investment, he needed something with faster returns. As with any business venture, he needed some initial capital first. And he already had a plan to secure that starting amount quickly.

Fourth Experimental Middle School was a boarding school, and students were only allowed to go home on weekends. It was Friday, and with a holiday tomorrow, Chen Fan left school and headed straight home.

His parents were busy with work and wouldn’t return until evening. Once in his room, Chen Fan opened his piggy bank, taking out all the money he had saved—over 2,000 yuan.

In many rebirth novels, the first step to accumulating funds was often buying lottery tickets. Chen Fan had always found this trope unrealistic. For someone who never bought lottery tickets and didn’t follow the draws closely, remembering specific winning numbers was unlikely.

As a high school student in his previous life, he barely had time for anything besides studying, let alone tracking lottery results. But not remembering winning numbers didn’t mean buying tickets was impossible!

Chen Fan recalled one specific incident: at the No. 332 lottery station on Changle Street, a regular lottery player had won an 8-million-yuan prize. The winning ticket was purchased tomorrow, on his birthday.

He remembered it because a few days later, his father had mentioned it. “On your birthday, someone won big on Changle Street. I passed by on my way home and saw them celebrating with gongs and drums,” his dad had said. His father even joked about buying a few tickets himself, a suggestion quickly shut down by his mother.

Lottery stations often hold celebratory events when a big winner emerges to attract more customers. Fortunately, this memory had stayed with Chen Fan. If he played his cards right, it could be his ticket to securing the initial funds he needed for his business plans.
