Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

Chapter 350: 350 Compromise

Han Xiaohong smiled, "Director Meng, no matter your intentions, I still thank you."

Even Meng Xiu Fen couldn't quite grasp her meaning, but since she had already spoken, looking at her gave the impression that she wasn't an ordinary family's child and wouldn't lose herself over trivial gains.

After sending Han Xiaohong away, Meng Xiu Fen went to the back to rest herself.

She self-deprecatingly chuckled, thinking that even if she managed to stop Han Xiaohong this time, there were still Zhou Xiaohong and Wu Xiaohong. The real problem lay with Kong Demin.

She couldn't hold Kong Demin down, and the best course now was to have him marry Zheng Xiuxiang. But he showed no signs of willingness.

Now she finally saw through Kong Demin; he just wanted to play around and still have someone to bear children for him.

Suddenly, Meng Xiu Fen felt she grasped something, a fleeting thought in her mind. Yes, just find him a wife who can't conceive, so his future wife won't bear children either.

But she was still uncertain. If this wouldn't work, she'd have to visit the city. Previously, when they were younger and wanted a son, they found someone specially to prepare him, and that person had once said he had many secret remedies, so maybe there is a way to make men sterile?

Thinking of this, Meng Xiu Fen couldn't stay still any longer. She jumped up and tidied her desk.

After instructing a colleague, she took a car directly to the city.

In the city, she found that old Chinese doctor and awkwardly stated her request but was refused.

"Master, please help me. My son has just turned two and now he wants to marry someone else. If there are more children, what should I do with my later years?

Master, please have mercy."

Meng Xiu Fen spoke while shedding tears, crying terribly.

She ended up paying a hundred bucks for a small packet of white powder.

Instead of going to work, she went straight home.

The master told her the powder was odorless, effective only if taken for three consecutive days. Meng Xiu Fen was desperate now and started administering it to him from today.

She felt relieved seeing Kong Demin take it down that night.

Zheng Xiuxiang was already four months pregnant, her belly visibly bulging.

However, she was quite diligent, still handling all the housework alone, since the other two were working.

"Demin, should we get someone to help?"

"It's up to you to arrange."

"Aunt Meng, it's not necessary. There's not much to do, it's just picking Yu Jing up and dropping her off. I can't go anymore, but Changjun I can still look after."

"I'll think about it later. Changjun is going to school this year."

Zheng Xiuxiang wanted to say the child still didn't know how to handle his needs, and kindergartens wouldn't take him.

Yu Jing was almost four years old and understood quite a bit, knowing Sister Xiao Chun was expecting Dad's child.

She felt no one liked her anymore and had become much more silent.

With both adults preoccupied with their own issues, no one is paying attention to her.

At night, Kong Demin fantasized about Meng Xiu Fen as Han Xiaohong, becoming somewhat excited.

The next day, Han Xiaohong's elder brother accompanied her to resign.

She dared not come alone, since yesterday afternoon Kong Demin already hinted and stared at her, making her feel frightened.

"Secretary Han, resigning needs a valid reason; makes it easy to think you don't want to serve the people."

"Director Kong, I decided to leave suddenly, which is why I'm resigning."

"Oh? Leaving? Where are you headed?"

"To the military."

Kong Demin was brimming with fury inside, but seeing the man sitting silently on the side, he knew he was certainly military and of no low rank.

Recalling his unfair treatment in the army fueled his anger further.

"Secretary Han, I do not accept your resignation here."

The man sitting suddenly stood up, instinctively tightening Kong Demin's heart.

"Kong Demin, do you think nobody knows about your actions? That the matters from your military days won't resurface?"

These simple words made Kong Demin's heart race. He looked at the man beside Han Xiaohong.

"Who are you?"

"Who I am isn't necessary for you to know. I can tell you that if I wish, you'd be in jail immediately."

Kong Demin was extremely pragmatic. He promptly signed the resignation application.

Han Xiaohong and her brother walked down the street. "Big brother, why didn't you directly report him? Just thinking of him makes me feel sick."

"This comes from his saving a friend of mine before, exchanging his life-saving favor, and without dire necessity, I won't take that path.

Xiao Hong, come to the army with me. The situation now isn't good, you'd better follow me for safety."

"Alright, I'll go with you. I truly despise this place; as long as I think of Kong Demin, I feel like vomiting."

Watching the pair walk away, Kong Demin rubbed his temples, recalling his departure experiences, dampening his mood.

Meng Xiu Fen finally got Kong Demin to take all the medication over three days, feeling secure. He could do as he wished now; he only has three kids, who will remain under her control, what could he do?

With this assurance, Meng Xiu Fen finally slept soundly.

Kong Menglin and Cheng Changsheng were having conflicts. After he was demoted that day, he surprisingly returned home to speak to Kong Menglin. She wasn't foolish and saw this behavior confirming her second brother's actions were correct.

At night when he wanted to touch her and got rejected, he was even more enraged. So now, the two are in a cold war.

Kong Menglin's heart had grown half cold.

However, she didn't want Cheng Changsheng to feel comfortable. Having come this far, she wanted him to face the same.

Cheng Changsheng almost felt like killing Kong Menglin. His man had been demoted yet she remained indifferent.

This woman is downright disinterested, not even slightly outweighing his ex-wife who, at least, could swallow her pride for him.

So, on Friday night, he took the two children back to his hometown.

Kong Menglin didn't care one bit; if he left, he left, as long as he didn't secretly look for other women, he could do whatever he wanted.

Actually, she vented all her resentment on Cheng Changsheng. It wasn't about being magnanimous or not wanting revenge, just imprisoning Chen Fengzhi wasn't satisfying.

Originally planning to steal her husband and son, but since that way didn't work, a strategy change was needed.

She knew Cheng Changsheng would definitely sleep with his ex-wife back home now; she decided not to care for now, let him enjoy first, however he'd pay a price for it. She actually thought about having them conceive another child and then taking it over herself, but found the idea repugnant.

Anyway, wait until a couple of months later when she visited, if there was a pregnancy, she'd make them plead on their knees, and it wouldn't be easily forgiven.
