Rebirth in Another World as the Undead Queen

Ch. 29

The Way to Build the "Blood Well"

"Your companions?"

Serea looked completely confused. She used her mental link to communicate with Little Black, and after confirming that it hadn't hunted any members of the elf race, Serea answered Vina.

"I don't understand what you're talking about, and besides you, we haven't seen any other elves."

As Serea spoke, she instructed Little Black's side to abandon the corpses they'd just hunted. They were now hurrying back at full speed.

Vina was unaware that a powerful undead squad was rushing back. Still caught up in her rage, she snapped:
"Don't try to deny it. It's you sly humans who captured my companions! Since you showed up here, you must be in league with those people!"

"Humans captured your companions? But that really has nothing to do with us,"

Serea replied.

"Nothing to do with you? How could ordinary humans possibly be deep inside the Corrupted Forest? Yet you still want to say you have nothing to do with those humans!"

"That... actually makes sense. I don't even know how to explain it anymore,"

Serea said nonchalantly. Faced with six elven warriors, she didn't show the slightest trace of fear.

After all, even though the enemy had superior numbers, there was nothing for her to be afraid of. With Celia there as a Novice Paladin, none of those elves were a match for them!
Moreover, Little Black would soon return with the others. If those elves really wanted to throw away their lives, then they could just try making a move.

"This is all a misunderstanding. We haven't seen any other humans, nor have we seen the companions you said were captured. We've only come here to hunt monsters,"

Celia explained.

"You think I will believe your nonsense?"

Vina's fury made her irrational.

"It seems you all need to calm down before you'll listen to our explanation."

Celia said, and, in order to protect Serea's body, she stepped forward, taking a battle stance.

Seeing Celia preparing to fight, Vina didn't waste words. She waved her hand firmly.

"Capture them and take them back for the Queen to question!"

With that, several elves, bows in hand, slowly moved toward Serea and Celia, seemingly intent on capturing the two humans alive.

Celia readied herself to respond, but Serea reached out and held her back.

Celia shot Serea a puzzled look, only for Serea to shake her head.

"Master says she's very interested in the elves. It won't hurt to go with them for a bit," came Dogsius's mental message in Celia's mind. Hearing this, she glanced at Vina and the others, her cross sword sliding back into its scabbard.

Serea stepped forward and asked, "By the way, as an intelligent species, you all know how to build things, right?"

Vina didn't react for a moment to this strange question. "Build things?"

"Of course we do."

"Hmph, are you looking down on us?"

"So, you can?"

Serea pressed.

"Obviously!"

Vina replied.

"Great, then go ahead, take us. We won't resist,"

Serea said, putting her hands forward to make it convenient for them to tie her up.

As to why she was doing this, Serea's reasoning was clear.

She had a relatively sufficient supply of materials for the time being, so the top priority was to construct the Blood clan's basic structure—the Blood Well. However, she didn't know how to build, and considering her current identity, seeking help from humans was out of the question.

But elves, also an intelligent race, could help. As long as there was an elf skilled in construction among them, her Blood Well could be built!
So Serea chose to surrender and let them capture her.

"You're choosing to surrender?"

Vina understood Serea's intentions, but the sudden surrender still left her puzzled.

When Vina hesitated, Serea urged her, "Didn't you want to take us back? Come on, then."

"Sly human, what trick are you up to now?"

Vina demanded.

"Don't worry, I'm willing to be captured by you,"

Serea replied.

"Don't regret it, then."

With that, Vina waved her hand again.

"Bind them!"

At Vina's order, the other elves immediately complied, stepping forward and quickly tying Serea and Celia's hands with vines.

Looking at the two humans now restrained, Vina remained plagued by doubt, but with her prisoners in hand, she could finally return to report.

"Take them all back."

Vina strode ahead as two other elves grabbed the vines to keep Serea and Celia from escaping. With Vina leading, the group headed into the forest.

As they walked, Serea looked back. Up on the tree trunk, a crow watched the group leave.

Seeing the crow, Serea gave a cold smile, and then was led deep into the forest by the elves.

......

Not far from the wooden cabin, a one-eyed man in armor was leading a team, all equipped with various armors, through the woods.

Suddenly, the one-eyed man raised his hand, signaling the group to stop.

They halted at once, looking at the leader expectantly as if they anticipated something.

After standing still for a few seconds, the one-eyed man broke into a smile.

"Found them!"

At his words, the group erupted in cheers.

"Boss, you found them?"

"Yeah, they were hiding deep, but nothing escapes my eyes."

With that confirmation, the crowd grew excited.

"Finally found them."

"This time we won't let them get away."

"Boss, take us there quick! Piles and piles of gold coins are calling to us."

"Yeah, let's go catch them!"

As the men urged him on, the one-eyed man barked,

"Take you there? And let you idiots let them escape again?"

"But boss, last time was just an accident..."

"Accident? You useless fools! A whole group of you couldn't even catch a few women, and you have the nerve to shout here?"

Riled up, the one-eyed man's temper made everyone quiet down immediately.

"All you do is make trouble, and when anything happens, you run faster than anyone."

Scolded by him, the thirty men in the group took the abuse in silence, none daring to say a word, for fear of angering the boss further.

Satisfied with the silence, the one-eyed man continued—

"Anyway, this time I will find those elves' hiding place. If you let them escape again, you'll regret it!"

Nobody answered.

"Did you all hear me clearly?" he snapped.

"Yes, boss!" the crowd answered in chorus.

Seeing their lack of spirit, the one-eyed man lit a cigarette and added:
"Stay sharp. This is our biggest haul ever. If it works out, twenty gold coins for each of you."

At the mention of twenty gold coins, everyone's eyes lit up with a strange gleam.

"What, all riled up now?"

"Heh, boss, we all listen to you," one lackey flattered, while the rest chimed in agreement.

"That's right, boss, we'll follow your orders!"

The one-eyed man laughed, then made a grand gesture.

"Let's go, follow them. Don't let a single one escape this time!"

"Yes!" xN
Everyone replied in unison.

Watching the elves disappear into the forest, the one-eyed man rubbed his sightless eye, glaring in hatred toward the forest depths.

Then, through clenched teeth, he spat three words:
"Just you wait!"
