Rebirth in Another World as the Undead Queen

Ch. 19

Abyssal Summoning

After tidying up the battlefield, the Skeleton Warriors brought over large chests one after another. When Serea opened them, she discovered they were filled entirely with gold coins and jewels.

Gazing at the glittering treasures inside the chests, Serea glanced over at the other items on the convoy.

"Buang isn't needed; the herbs can be discarded, and the unrefined ore can be thrown away. The rest of the valuables should be these," she muttered.

At this point, if Serea wanted to take everything with her, she could only rely on the spatial ring on her finger.

But the storage space within the spatial ring was limited—roughly only thirty cubic meters—so she had to abandon some things.

Thus, Serea cleared out everything in the spatial ring that was useless to her, prioritizing the storage of armor, weapons, and treasure, with any remaining space used for daily supplies.

After making her selections, there were still several large chests of treasure and more than thirty sets of various armors left, as well as countless weapons.

Once everything was sorted, all kinds of herbs and fabrics lay scattered on the ground. Without even glancing at them, Serea closed the spatial ring and prepared to leave this troublesome place.

"The supplies for my future development are ready. As long as I'm given some time, I will be able to rise rapidly,"

Serea thought to herself.

Although she didn't know what she would face in the future, she knew that to survive in this unknown world, she must become stronger and stronger. For this, Serea had already made her preparations.

The convoy's supplies were enough for her to develop steadily within the Corrupted Jungle for three months. During this time, she could level up and strengthen her troops by hunting magical beasts in the jungle.

In three months, when she emerged from the forest again, Serea believed the situation would be completely different—an illustrious and broad road lay ahead!

However, before that, she needed to hide herself well. Whether it was the Otto Kingdom or the Ailera Empire, both would pose a threat to her; so until she had the power to oppose them, she could not allow herself to be exposed.

Realizing this, Serea looked at the corpses scattered around the convoy.

All those bodies had been drained of blood and died in harrowing ways—it was obvious they had not died normal deaths.

To avoid being discovered by others, she needed to deal with the corpses here first!

As for the most suitable way to deal with them...

"Go pile the corpses together, then set them on fire."

Serea issued the order, and the Skeletons quickly responded, stacking the corpses into a small hill.

Looking at the bodies, Serea couldn't help but feel a twinge of regret.

"What a shame. If I wasn't limited in the number of undead I could control, these would all be excellent material. But now, to avoid exposure, I can only burn them."

As Serea was saying this, a system notification suddenly sounded.

System: The host can use these corpses to trigger Abyssal Summoning, summoning beings from the Abyss to fight for you.

"Hm? Abyssal creatures!!!"

System: Implanting Abyssal data.

Suddenly, a flood of memories washed into Serea's mind—an explanation of Abyssal Altars and the origins of the Abyss.

The Abyss was like a vast sea in the underworld, its hidden powers still far from being fully revealed.

Devious and wicked monsters, bizarre and mysterious sentient races, terrifying and savage Abyssal behemoths, and...

Evil gods possessing infinite power and the faith of countless races!

The unknown was the very definition of the Abyss, and what Serea saw was only the tip of the iceberg.

"Abyssal Summoning—Abyssal powers, huh? Since it's one of the four great power systems, it certainly won't be any weaker than Death or Blood, right?"

System: There is no absolute superiority or inferiority among the four branches of dark power, and it's meaningless to compare them, as all are loyal to you, the Darkness Sovereign.

"Fine then. What materials do I need to trigger Abyssal Summoning?"

System: Corpses, treasures, and a variety of other materials can be used to trigger Abyssal Summoning. Depending on the medium you use, different Abyssal beings will be summoned, including some known and some unknown.

"Then what would I summon by using these corpses?"

System: Corpses are not very valuable and will likely attract only lower-level Abyssal creatures. The most probable are Gloomy Fishmen and Fallen Lucia, among others.

"Er... but I don't have any more slots for subordinates. Would summoning Abyssal beings cause any issues?"

System: Death creatures obey the host via spiritual linkage, while Abyssal, blood, and some Soul creatures do not require such mental connections. Abyssal beings are controlled through contracts.

"I see, then let's summon. I have no use for so many corpses, so I'll just use them as the medium."

As Serea spoke, an icon bearing a bundle of tentacles lit up—it was the power of the Abyssal Altar: Abyssal Summoning.

"Mighty being of the Abyssal Darkness, with these offerings, please heed my call!"

With Serea's chant, a pentagram symbol appeared beneath the pile of corpses.

Looking at the mysterious purple summoning circle exuding an enigmatic aura, Serea couldn't help but fantasize.

"I've sacrificed so many corpses; the summoned Abyssal being should be pretty strong."

But after several minutes passed...

System: The host's offerings may be insufficient to attract Abyssal creatures; the summoning is about to fail.

"Ah... insufficient to attract them?"

Serea frowned, then let her eyes drift to all the silk, buang, herbs, and other such things scattered around.

"Since it's bound to fail anyway, might as well try—throw everything in!"

Once the order was given, the Skeletons moved swiftly.

Tattered cloth, ore, scrap, herbs—everything was tossed in. Even the stronger Little Black managed to hoist up a carriage and throw it onto the pile.

Staring at the hill-sized offering, Serea muttered to herself,

"This much stuff should show enough sincerity. If nothing comes now, it'll be unreasonable."

No sooner had she said this than the system responded.

System: The twelve Abyssal beings who initially agreed to make a pact have all refused the summoning. You have one minute of summoning time remaining.

"Huh? So unappreciative? They just bailed—my offerings are really that unattractive?"

The system didn't answer, as if at a loss for words.

But just as Serea was about to question it further, the system notification sounded once more.

System: Offering accepted. Please sign a contract with the summoned creature.

"Hm? Someone accepted? What kind of Abyssal being is it?"

Serea asked, and then the summoning array slowly rose up. A spatial gate wreathed in purple mist appeared before her, with a dark silhouette swaying inside.

"Who dares disturb my slumber?!"

A powerful voice boomed out, making Serea's heart surge.

"I knew it! With my luck, the Abyssal creature I summoned has to be an immensely powerful being."

Serea boasted gleefully, then stepped up to stand before the spatial gate.
