Rebirth as a Time Dragon: A DND Chronicle

Chapter 1: Chapter 1: Reincarnated as a Dragon

At night, Austin was reading a novel, lying in bed on his side, half-propped up on a pillow, his phone still charging.

Suddenly, everything before his eyes went dark, and his vision plunged into an endless abyss of darkness.

...............

Waking from the darkness, Austin's mind was almost a blank slate.

After struggling to open his eyes, he found his vision extremely blurry, seeing everything around him through a chaotic double image, while eerie, noisy sounds occasionally reached his ears.

"Am I dreaming?"

He shook his head sharply, and Austin's consciousness gradually cleared.

Before he could take in his surroundings, the largest white blur in his field of vision merged together, gradually coalescing into an enormous creature that was so terrifying he almost jumped up.

It was a sinister behemoth, all in cold white, with wings like those of a bat, enlarged and widened, its sinews visible, strong and tough.

The creature's surface was covered in icy, white scales that were smooth and beautiful, reflecting a bright shiny layer of light. Moreover, these scales were tightly and orderly arranged without any gaps, appearing to have a powerful defense capability.

Its size was immense in Austin's eyes, as it lazily lay on the ground, its entire body resembling a thick, tall building.

An overwhelming pressure hit him, making Austin forget to breathe for a moment.

The white beast gazed at Austin with its cold, vertical pupils, seemingly waiting for something.

Meanwhile, Austin's body shivered, then he froze, his eyes clouded with confusion.

In that instant, a flood of memories surged into Austin's mind, mingling and swirling with his own memories.

This torrent of memories was overwhelming, filled with all sorts of knowledge that seemed incredible to Austin, coming quickly and leaving just as fast. In just a few seconds, Austin regained his senses.

He had inherited the legacy of the dragons and had turned into a white dragon. The white beast before him was his dragon mother.

The vast amount of knowledge and information he had just received helped Austin understand his situation.

Meanwhile, the dragon mother's vertical pupils focused on this newly hatched dragonling, feeling somewhat puzzled.

White dragons are the smallest among dragonkind. A newly born dragonling is usually only about the size of a grown dog, and generally even a bit smaller.

But this dragonling, having just hatched, was already the size of a normal lion or tiger, much larger, with muscular lines under its scales that were more robust and athletic than those of a normal dragonling. This appearance was usually only achieved by a dragonling several weeks older.

Moreover, unlike typical white dragonlings, Austin's scales, while largely reflective and mirror-like in pure white, had some fine black scales around his neck that didn't quite fit with the rest.

These black scales formed a circle, creating a ring-like pattern that looked uniquely stylish.

Could it be that he had become a mindless dragon beast? At this point, the dragon mother was getting impatient, with frost breathing out of her nostrils and settling on the ground as semi-transparent ice crystals.

She stared coldly at Austin, her pale yellow dragon eyes gradually showing a humanoid hint of danger.

Opposite her, Austin was startled, and a series of intoned syllables quickly came from his mouth: "Garon Augustus. Sol Aurelian!"

This was his true dragon name.

Being able to speak his true name right after birth signified that this newborn dragonling had received the dragon legacy and wasn't a mindless dragon beast driven by instinct. He wouldn't need to be driven away or killed by his own mother and could have a relatively safe time growing up.

Although his appearance was a bit odd, since Austin had spoken his true name, it meant he was indeed a true dragon, and the dangerous look in the dragon mother's eyes gradually dissipated.

She closed her eyes and lazily went back to sleep.

After uttering his true name, Austin vigorously shook his head, feeling a strong hunger pang.

He turned to look at the shattered eggshells beside him, lowered his head, and started nibbling on them.

"The taste is not bad. It's cool and slightly reminiscent of chocolate."

The eggshells of dragonkind contain many nutrients they need and inorganic substances that can accelerate the growth of bones and scales, making them the first meal of a newly born dragonling. After discovering the pleasant taste, Austin shook his head and tail, enthusiastically munching on the chocolate-flavored eggshells.

After finishing, the young dragonling carefully sorted through his memories and information, then stealthily observed the dragon mother lying not far in front of him.

No matter how many times he saw it, his heart was always shocked by this fierce yet beautiful creature. His own body wasn't even as big as the dragon mother's head.

"And the dragon mother's size is considered small compared

to other dragons," Austin thought to himself.

At the same time, he saw his own appearance through the reflection of light on the dragon mother's scales.

His eyes were not the pale yellow of the dragon mother's, but a pair of dazzling platinum orbs, bright and very attractive.

Among a group of dragons, he would undoubtedly be the most striking one.

Dragons have a variety of eye colors—black, light yellow, brown, azure, deep purple, and countless others. However, the color platinum is quite rare.

Additionally, Garon's limbs were sturdy, his muscles robust, and his white scales, because of his recent birth, were even smoother and more reflective than those on the dragon mother, looking like mirrors. His wings were wide, with tough membranes, and his wingspan was comparatively longer than his body length.

His shoulder height to body length was about a one to six ratio, overall more elongated but still athletic.

Austin also noticed the ring of fine, circular black scales around his neck.

"A built-in black necklace? Looks pretty good," he thought, without much concern.

After all, in a vast forest, all sorts of dragons exist, and some mutations at birth are occasional occurrences. Just a ring of odd black scales wasn't a major mutation.

These types of slightly mutated dragons are documented in the dragon legacy as variant dragons.

Variant dragons are often weaker than regular dragons, but occasionally a freakishly strong individual emerges.

Hoping his mutation was a positive one, Austin thought.

After getting a clear view of his appearance, Austin lowered his head to look at his forelimbs, which already bore sharp, cold claws, and he silently repeated his long dragon true name.

"The name Austin will fade with the past."

"From now on, I am Garon, a white dragon named Garon!"

At this moment, Garon's feelings were quite complex. On one hand, he was somewhat anxious about arriving in a new world, and on the other hand, he was excited after glimpsing a beautiful corner of this world from the dragon legacy.

Dragons, undead, giants, elves, spellcasters, elements, demons, abysses, gods...

"Since I'm here, I might as well settle in."

Garon took a deep breath, closed his eyes briefly, then slowly opened them, his mind much calmer.

Being reborn as a dragon, rather than a pitiful slime or goblin-like lower creature, was already as lucky as it could get.

Crack, crack...

A series of faint cracking sounds caught Garon's attention. He turned his head and saw that the sound was coming from a whole dragon egg beside him.

He saw the millstone-sized dragon egg slightly shaking, while more and more cracks appeared on it.

The dragonling inside was struggling hard, and after a few seconds, finally broke out of the shell.

Unlike Garon, who had stood frozen in place for a long time, this newly born dragonling immediately let out a juvenile dragon roar upon encountering the outside world, then spoke its true dragon name.

"Hil Ross Winnesa Rebecca."

Hil's voice was tender and light, giving Garon a sense of hearing a loli's tone.
