Chapter 182: Corner
"So you're leaving?" Kaelith asked, leaning back in her seat.
Hades straightened, a faint nervousness showing in his tone. "Is there a problem, Mother? I promise to stay low profile."
The only concern that came to mind was his identity as the Chaos Heir. That could cause issues here in the Dragon's Realm—but once he returned to the human world, he'd simply be Hades again.
Yet, the look on Kaelith's face told him this was about something else.
"It's not that I didn't expect it," she said calmly. "I knew your other mother came here to ask for help. I'm just… unsure if you should be getting involved."
Hades frowned. "Will it cause some kind of problem?"
Kaelith folded her arms, her tone turning serious. "As you must have heard, Raarka serves under one of the Seven Fangs. Going against him could disrupt our alliance with Kaizar."
Hades blinked in surprise. "We're allied with the Fang family?"
Kaelith nodded. "Since ancient times, three great families have served the God of Chaos. One of them broke away a few decades ago and now stands neutral. But the Third and Fifth Fanged Families still remain with us."
Hades bit his lower lip as realization dawned.
If he fought Raarka, the alliance would be shaken.
Kaizar might not be able to intervene directly in human affairs—but word would spread fast that someone from Aethernox had attacked one of his Commanders.
Sensing the unease from her son, Kaelith released a soft breath, her expression relaxing
Getting up, she cupped her son's cheek and said, "I will never stop you from doing something which you deem necessary. Alliance, past connections…everything I preserve is to ensure a safe future for you. So, don't overthink things, go with your Mom and see what the situation is. I trust my son enough to know he will somehow sort things out."
Hades heaved a sigh before giving a brief nod, "I won't disappoint you, mother."
….
A small group of five stood at the castle entrance.
It was early morning, and Peri was still half-asleep. Hades had suggested she stay behind—but the sharpest glare imaginable from the elf immediately shot down the idea.
He raised his hands in surrender. Trying to argue with his wives was pointless.
At the entrance, Avalin waited, calm and composed. Beside her stood a familiar violet-haired dragoness.
"I don't understand," Luna said, tilting her head. "Why do we need to bring her?"
Avalin's voice was steady. "The pact between our realms prevents any older dragon from entering the human world. The older a dragon grows, the stronger they become. That's why Marilyn was chosen as the young master's shadow guard in the first place."
Peri frowned. "But Hades has already contacted the Sage. She said she'd help us cross the border."
Avalin sighed. "There's only so much she can do. Even letting the young master pass requires a great effort from her."
The group finally understood why Averis was being assigned as Hades's personal guard. She was perhaps the strongest young dragon in the castle—a power that, while impressive, still had room to grow.
Hades let out a long sigh and turned to Averis. "This will be risky. Are you sure you want to come with us?"
Averis nodded silently. Speaking her true thoughts would likely have annoyed her Lord, so she chose to remain quiet.
Hades shrugged. "Then that's settled." He turned to Avalin and pulled a letter from his pocket, handing it to her.
Her brows lifted as she listened. "Give this to Marilyn when she wakes. Tell her I'll be back in a few days."
Avalin gave a brief nod and bowed. "Have a safe trip, Young Lord."
Hades smiled faintly before departing the castle.
It was time to return to his first home.

"Did he leave?" Kaelith asked, stepping out of the bath.
Her skin glistened with lingering droplets of water, catching the light with a soft, tempting sheen. Damp strands of hair clung sensually to her shoulders and collarbone, accentuating the curve of her neck and the slope of her back.
Wrapped in a thin towel that barely concealed her form, she moved with a languid grace to the bed and settled down, the subtle sway of her body radiating a quiet, commanding allure.
Avalin exhaled a soft sigh, taking a dry towel to gently wipe her Lady's skin.
"Yes, he left. He didn't resist taking Averis with him," she said carefully.
Kaelith's lips curved into a knowing grin. "Well, that decision was his to make. And it seems that girl is finally making her move."
Avalin said nothing.
Averis had come to Kaelith first, seeking permission—but the Queen had made it clear that such a choice could only come from the person she wished to serve and protect. Hesitant at first, Averis had ultimately chosen to take the risk.
"My Queen," Avalin asked, her voice gentle, "there was no reason to make Young Master so nervous about Raarka, was there?"
Kaelith chuckled softly. "No, not at all. Raarka is nothing more than a dog serving Kaizar. He wouldn't dare act against us over the loss of a single pawn."
Avalin's eyes narrowed. "Then you must have a very specific reason for putting him in a corner."
Kaelith exhaled, a quiet breath escaping her lips. "I don't want my son to become a mere warhorse. He is meant to be a ruler, Avalin. He's already taken his first steps in the courtroom—I'm simply guiding him toward the throne."
"King of Aethernox?" Avalin asked.
Kaelith shook her head, a faint smile touching her lips. "That's far too small a title for someone like him, Avy. I intend for my son to become a Sovereign—someone who rules above all."
Hades was destined for greatness beyond anyone in the world. Unlike other emissaries of the Primordials, he did not blindly follow orders.
He possessed the will and strength to challenge even his own origins if he believed his ancestors had erred. He had the determination to overturn centuries of unquestioned tradition. And his growth as a warrior… there were no words capable of capturing its magnitude.
To defeat a Duke-ranked opponent at the mere age of eighteen? That was nothing short of extraordinary.
"So… you cornered him on purpose, but then couldn't keep up the act and went to comfort him anyway, huh?" Avalin teased, a knowing smile tugging at her lips.
Kaelith's cheeks flushed a soft shade of pink. Huffing, she turned her head away. "You wouldn't understand, Avy. A mother can't just sit and watch her child struggle."
Avalin chuckled and rolled her eyes before turning toward the door. "Of course, my Queen. Whatever helps you sleep at night."
With that, she left the room, leaving Kaelith alone—still blushing, a faint smile lingering on her lips.
…..
"Doesn't he look kind of happy?" Peri asked, glancing at the man ahead of them.
Luna followed her gaze and saw Hades smiling as he spoke with his mother. Through their bond, she could feel his emotions—light, calm, almost joyful. There wasn't a trace of worry in him, even though he was about to face an army of a thousand men.
Luna sighed softly. "Well, he's probably eager to see Graham's family again… especially Thalia."
Her gaze then drifted toward Ava who was taking a nap.
While the pinkette said she wouldn't fall off, Luna had erected a barrier around her.
Peri's head snapped toward her. "Wait—who is this girl now?"
Luna exhaled, already sensing the storm brewing. "Relax. She's just sixteen. Like a little sister to him."
Peri narrowed her eyes. "And how close are they, exactly?"
Luna hesitated for a beat before replying, "Well… they've slept together a few times—"
"What?!" Peri nearly shouted, her voice rising against the rush of wind. If it weren't for the roaring air around them, Hades would've surely heard.
Luna quickly waved her hands. "It's not what you think! Thalia used to be very sick. Hades's presence comforted her, so she'd often ask him to stay by her side."
Peri pressed her lips together and sighed. "Still… we'll need to keep an eye on her."
Luna leaned back, her hands resting against the dragon's smooth scales as the creature's wings sliced through the clouds.
The cool wind brushed against her hair, and the horizon stretched endlessly, painted in gold by the setting sun.
"This would be the first time for you to visit the human realm, right?" she asked, her voice almost carried away by the wind.
Peri's silver eyes flickered as she kept her gaze ahead. "A few times," she replied lazily. "But only the towns near the border. I even visited Bavech once. Just a boring town—smelled like smoke and loneliness."
Luna giggled, covering her mouth. "That's because you went to a place which is now nearly a graveyard. Bavech is famous for that. You didn't even explore the market or the lakeside, did you?"
Peri tilted her head, pretending to think. "Market? Lakeside?"
Luna nodded, "I'll bring you to a few interesting places—some hidden ones only I know of."
Curling her legs and resting her face on her knees, she muttered, "Now that we're making a trip, let's enjoy ourselves to the fullest extent. We've earned that much, haven't we?"
