Chapter 107: It's time
Peri was grinning from ear to ear as she sat with her mother under the bright, golden sun, her mama's gentle hands weaving through her hair.
These past few days had been so blissful that the long, lonely nights she once endured without her mama felt like they were slowly fading away, as though they belonged to someone else.
Samaran City, too, was changing. The air no longer carried the same heaviness. Families who had left were starting to return after hearing the good news, and those who had stayed never stopped thanking the Goddess and the Queen for such a miracle. Word had spread far and wide—the curse that had haunted Samaran City was finally gone.
Her mama always reminded her that it would take time before people truly came back to the city, but Peri's heart was hopeful. She believed things would return to normal much sooner than her mama expected.
Since that day… since *he* left… Peri hadn't heard a single word from the presence that lived inside her. It was as if she had vanished completely. Yet, Peri knew—she was still there, somewhere deep within.
"Little one, you remember what I told you to do every day, don't you?" her mother's gentle voice pulled her back.
Peri hummed, "Yes, I know. Exercise, meditate, train, and… yeah."
Beatrice tilted her head, her knowing eyes making Peri squirm until she let out a groan and muttered the last one.
"And… talk to him more."
Peri couldn't understand it. Why should she, the Elven Princess—surely the most beautiful girl in the world after her mama—try to speak with *him*? A man who, in her eyes, wasn't even worthy of her?
What did he truly have? Yes, his eyes were striking, his face annoyingly handsome, his build intimidating, and his very presence left her heart fluttering in ways she couldn't explain… but that didn't mean she would ever belong to him.
"He'll be coming here by evening," Beatrice said softly, a smile touching her lips as she finished the braid. "Are you excited to meet him?"
Peri scoffed, tossing her hair. "Excited? Who would be excited to see him—"
Before she could finish, a maid appeared on the rooftop and bowed. "Your Majesty, Master Hades and Lady Luna have arrived."
"Ah, really?" Peri shot up to her feet, her face breaking into an uncontrollable smile.
Beatrice couldn't hold back a chuckle. For someone who claimed she wasn't excited, her daughter's reaction said more than enough.
"Go get changed, I will greet them." Beatrice said, bringing Peri's attention to her clothes.
She was still in her shorts!
….
Beatrice descended gracefully and stepped into the reception area, where a maid had just finished setting tea before two familiar figures.
"You're early," she remarked, though her tone carried no hint of complaint—only warmth.
Both rose to greet her. Hades offered a faint smile as he said, "Well, we got a lift." His eyes lingered on her for a moment, and before he could stop himself, he added softly, "You look much better now."
Beatrice's hand brushed against her cheek, a faint blush blooming there. "I've been eating and sleeping well these days. Fufu~ thank you for noticing."
Beside him, Luna's eyes narrowed ever so slightly at the exchange. Her fingers found their way to Hades' side, giving his waist a quick, warning pinch.
Hades winced but covered it up with a sheepish smile, his gaze darting toward his mate.
Luna folded her arms and looked away, clearly upset.
Beatrice only chuckled at the subtle drama before urging gently, "Please, sit down. Peri will be here shortly."
Hades gave a small nod, and the two settled back into their seats as Beatrice gracefully lowered herself across from them, her presence calm and composed.
"I hope you two didn't get into any trouble these past few days," the blonde elf asked with gentle curiosity.
Luna gave a wry smile. "Trouble? Not exactly. But… we did have to deal with a few things we hadn't anticipated."
Beatrice's brows arched slightly, her voice soft but probing. "You met with your family members, didn't you?"
Hades let out a quiet sigh. "I managed to see my friend, and my uncle… but my mother was away on vacation. All I could do was leave a letter for her."
When he had reached the county, he discovered that his mother had gone to visit some distant relatives. The place was far off, and chasing after her would have taken more time than he had. So instead, he chose to write to her, leaving behind words in his stead.
Still, fortune hadn't completely abandoned him. He had run into Thalia—and the reunion, though brief, left him at ease. She had only asked for one thing: a promise.
He had sworn to her that he would come see her every now and then. And when she clasped his hand, eyes bright with expectation, he had promised again, more firmly this time—that he would be there for her birthday, five months from now.
The Queen sighed as she confessed, "These past ten days have been filled with happiness and peace for me. It had been so long since I felt complete."
Hades smiled warmly, "Glad to hear that."
Just then, the doors parted and a certain blond elf stepped into the room, wearing a black skirt that reached her knees.
With her hair braided and resting on her shoulder, she appeared gorgeous.
Somehow, Luna felt she should be paying focus on her dressing as well, seeing how good Peri's clothing sense is.
Peri's eyes landed on Hades as she complained, "Who told you to arrive early?"
Hades warmly smiled, "Thought you were missing me so I didn't delay much." He teased her.
Peri glared at him, "Me? Missed you?" She swatted her hair behind her haughtily, "Quite delusional you are."
Beatrice grinned, "Hmm~then why did you keep glancing at the clock every now and then-"
"Mama!" The younger one was flustered before she hurriedly cleared the 'misunderstanding', "She got it wrong. I just didn't want the day to pass quickly so I could spend as much time as I could with mama."
Luna got up, a smile on her face, "Oh, yes? Then can you tell me why you have your bags packed already?"
Peri sulked, "Even you…"
The trio shared a chuckle before Hades got up and said, "Well, I think it's time."
The days of enjoyment are over now. Hades has to leave behind this peace and step into a completely unknown world for the sake of his and his loved one's future.
It's time he finally embraces what he truly is.
