Reawakening: Primordial Dragon with Limitless Mana

Chapter 104: How long do we have(1)

Hades had been told to keep his identity hidden during the meeting, which was why he stood behind the King of Eronvale, dressed in the plain armor of a soldier.

Even so, he couldn't shake off his nerves. Being in the same room as some of the most powerful people in the human realm was no small thing.

Across from him sat a woman with dark skin and striking golden eyes. Her name was Ivy Geld Zytheria, the Queen of Zytheria—the western nation surrounded by endless desert.

To her left was a man with sharp blue hair and a presence that filled the room. Mana clung to him like a second skin, marking him as more than human. He was Arthur von Aurelith, ruler of the great water city Aurelith, and the strongest sorcerer alive—though, of course, the Sage stood above even him.

On the right sat the King of Etarox. His long hair flowed down his shoulders, and a scar across his face gave him a fierce, wild charm. His sheer size was daunting—taller than most soldiers even while seated. This was Rayden Etarox, a man who looked as much a warrior as he was a king.

The formal greetings, the ceremonial welcomes, and the pleasantries had been exchanged.

Now, it was finally time.

"I would like to welcome the guest who has joined us today to share her wisdom and help us find a way out of this predicament," Lucen announced.

The rulers glanced at one another, confusion flickering across their faces. But before a single question could be asked, a magic circle came to life in the center of the room, glowing bright and filling the chamber with its radiance.

The soldiers immediately raised their spears, ready to shield their lords and ladies.

"Halt!" Arthur's voice cut through the tension. He glared at the soldier nearest him, his sharp senses already recognizing the mana pouring from the circle. A chill ran down his spine.

Then, before their eyes, a white-haired woman stepped out of the light.

Disbelief spread across every face in the room. The rulers—including Lucen—rose from their seats, bowing their heads in unison.

"We greet the Wise One."

The soldiers lowered their weapons, retreating to their posts. The chief advisors, however, stood frozen, unable to believe what they were witnessing. Could it be? Were they truly standing before a living legend?

The Sage said nothing. She moved forward calmly and sat in the seat prepared for her—between Arthur and Lucen.

"Now sit down before I get tired of this meeting already."

Her blunt words snapped everyone back to their senses. Lucen immediately reclaimed his seat. He only remained standing because others were.

Arthur, however, remained leaning over the table, excitement burning in his eyes. "Why didn't you respond to any of the letters I sent you? Or the envoy?"

Hades blinked. From the way Arthur spoke… could it be that he was close to the Sage? Or was he imagining it?

"I only taught you for a few months," the Sage replied coolly, narrowing her eyes at him. "That does not give you the right to constantly disturb me."

Her words were sharp, a reprimand clear as day. Yet Arthur—ruler of a nation—did not so much as flinch. Instead, he smiled faintly and lowered himself into his chair with a sigh.

"You really haven't changed. I thought you might finally be returning to Aureltih."

The Sage scoffed, but said nothing more.

Once silence settled again, Prime Minister Phil—serving as Lucen's advisor for the day—found the courage to speak.

"I would now address the true purpose for which we have gathered here today," Phil declared, his tone solemn. "Our common enemy—the creatures who thrive on nothing but chaos and blood—still linger beyond the veil. And when the barrier between our realms fades, they shall descend upon us."

The atmosphere grew heavy at once. Every ruler in the chamber understood the weight of those words. None here were ignorant of the calamity that would follow once the Oath broke.

Then, cutting through the silence, the Sage spoke. Her sharp eyes shifted to the soldier standing behind Lucen.

"Do you wish to ask anything, my student?"

The words struck the room like a thunderclap.

Arthur flinched, his voice breaking the stunned quiet. "S-Student? You mean to say… my successor is but a soldier?"

The Sage turned her gaze on him, her expression cold as steel. "And you were but an insect in my eyes when you begged to learn from me. Shall I remind you of matters you would rather keep from your fellow rulers?"

Arthur stiffened, his jaw tightening. No further words left his lips.

Hades, caught in the middle of this sudden storm, felt his chest tighten. To be revealed in such a manner was overwhelming. Still, since he truly had a question burning inside him, he drew in a steady breath and spoke.

"I do not understand," he said, his voice low but firm. "Why us?"

There are other races, civilization as well—but the dragons always shows animosity toward human beings. Hades has always been curious about the reason.

Arthur scoffed, "Such an idiot-" A glare from the Sage it all took for him to shut up, before he coughed and said, "Well, the other races are blessed by the Primordial Beings who disappeared centuries ago. But the one who died here, in the human realm, was the worst of them all."

Hades' gaze narrowed, as he asked to his inner voice, 'Is he right?'

[Not completely, but yeah.]

The man soon added, "That's why, the land they don't deem to be blessed rather cursed is the land they aim to claim."

From any angle Hades sees it, he feels that humanity is bound to be doomed.

The only person who could have protected them was no longer strong enough to hold her ground.

While humanity has several outstanding warriors and tools that could put up a great fight against the dragons…a sky filled with thousands of fire breathing creatures would simply overwhelm any army.

And somehow, Hades feels that he would be the one to be blamed for the carnage that awaits.

[Well, you have the potential to stop the destruction.]

Hades grimly asked, 'And how is that?'

[Simple. Become strong enough to destroy every existing Dragon Kings.]

"...." Yeah, that doesn't even sound anywhere near possible.

"Alright then, let's continue the discussion." Lucen said, gathering everyone's attention as he turned towards the Sage, "Please let us know what is the current situation of the Oath. And…how long do we have?"
