Chapter 1128: Unexpected Changes
Chapter 1128: Unexpected Changes
Oooom!
An oppressive force abruptly descended on Izroth as a wave of destruction washed throughout the area.
Zeeeut!
Without hesitation, Izroth's figure vanished and reappeared tens of meters away from the newly formed spatial tear.
Right before receiving the main brunt of the spatial destruction, Izroth activated his Space Defying Tread to escape to a safe distance. However, calling it a safe distance at this point was not entirely accurate.
'I knew that it wouldn't be able to hold up for long, but... To think it would be destroyed in less than a single breath.'
Izroth glanced down at his hand as the last few fragments of the shattered Scorched Inferno's Fang turned into countless particles.
〈System Alert: The item «Scorched Inferno's Fang» has been destroyed!〉
In the blink of an eye, a level 55 rare weapon had turned to dust.
If most players in RML witnessed such a sight, they would feel a sting in their chests at the lost of a rare treasure. But, for someone like Izroth, such a lost was barely worth sparing a glance.
'A weapon that serves its purpose—what greater accomplishment can be asked of it?'
"I already anticipated that the surrounding space would become unstable after forcibly creating a spatial tear. Due to the destructive space, even if I managed to successfully create a path, it will be unstable and collapse rapidly. For now, I have done all that I can. The rest will be up to them." Izroth said to himself as he kept his gaze locked onto the spatial tear.
The spatial tear Izroth created as roughly three meters high and two meters across.
Though, even with aid of Spatial Ebb and Flow that held the spatial tear together, it was already shrinking at a terrifying pace.
At its current rate of shrinking, Izroth estimated that it would completely collapse in less than twelve seconds!
To traverse an unstable spatial passageway filled with destructive energy—even for someone as sturdy and fast as Empyrean would not be easy. This was even more so considering that he also had to bring Selene along with him through the passageway.
9 seconds...
8 seconds...
Izroth kept his attention on the spatial tear as he it starting to reach a dangerously small size. However, he was still unable to detect any signs of anyone or anything coming through the spatial tear. Nor was he able to feel the presence of Empyrean or Selene through the Soul Link trait.
5 seconds...
4 second...
'Was it not enough?'
Just as that thought crossed Izroth's mind and right as the three second mark struck, Izroth felt a suddenly jolt—as if a missing connection had been suddenly re-established. However, despite the initial jolt, the feeling was till faint and difficult to perceive. Still, without a doubt, Izroth could tell—it belonged to Empyrean and Selene!
'I must do everything in my power to ensure that they can find their way.'
Without warning, a gentle gust of wind began to flow around Izroth before he motioned his hand in the direction of the Gate of the Separati.
Upon doing so, the gentle gust of wind flowed with extreme swiftness toward the relic and blew into the spatial tear.
Izroth hoped to use the Imitation Law of Wind as a guiding beacon of sorts to help guide the two through the undoubtedly turbulent spatial passageway.
3 seconds...
2 seconds...
Izroth did not let up on the Law of Wind and even channeled a portion of his Essence into it to add another layer of familiarity.
1 second..!
Izroth narrowed his eyes as the destructive space was quickly closing in on his position. But, his gaze looked beyond the destructive space and remained locked onto the spatial tear, which had now been reduced to the size of a pebble.
At this point, even if Empyrean and Selene successfully made it through the spatial passageway, there was no way their bodies would be able to fit through such a tiny spatial tear.
'Hm? That's...'
Something located at the spatial tear's center caught Izroth. It was a single thread that managed to barely emerge from the spatial tear through the pebble-like hole opening. However, it was not just any thread. It was one that Izroth immediately recognized!
In the same moment the thread first came into view, Izroth did not waste a single thought as he activated the Strength of the Primordial Colossus effect attached to his Ring of the Primordial Colossus. Simultaneously, everything around Izroth seemed to slow down to a snail's pace.
〈System Alert: You have activated «Strength of the Primordial Colossus»!〉
〈System Alert: Your Might has increased by 200% for 1 minute!〉
〈System Alert: You have activated the skill «Time Dilation»!〉
〈System Alert: Due to the effects of «Time Dilation», you will now perceive everything at [10%] of its original speed!〉
BOOM!
An overwhelming surge of power flowed through Izroth as an intense wave of stress weighed down on him as if to lock him in place.
When he previously used Time Dilation, Izroth had done so 90% and even that put a decent deal of stress on his body. It was not the point that he was unable to move, but he could feel the burden it caused him.
Now, Izroth had jumped all the way to 10% in one go. He instantly felt the backlash of pushing Time Dilation beyond its current means.
'It feel like an invisible force wants to tear my body apart in several directions.'
Izroth maintained a calm composure as he continued to flicker in and out of existence due to his Flickering Steps still being active.
Fortunately, the new activate effect of the Ring of the Primordial Colossus increased his Might stat from 1 to 3. If not for the extra point in his Might stat, Izroth was confident that he would still be able to use Time Dilation at 10%; however, moving with it activated was a different story altogether.
The issue with moving through destructive space was the way it randomly shifted. If Izroth was not careful, he could be pulled into a random spatial tear and sent who knows where. Of course, that was the best case scenario. Worst case, the destructive space he collided with would immediately place him at death's door, regardless of his sturdy physique.
Zeeeeut!
Izroth's silhouette flickered about as he quickly closed the distance between him and the spatial tear. As he did so, Izroth avoided the destructive areas of space thanks to a combination of his Spatial Awareness and Time Dilation. He was currently able to perceive the destructive areas and narrowly avoid them.
While doing so, Izroth found the shortest path possible to reach the spatial tear and swiftly arrived before it.
0.2 seconds...
Izroth reached his hand toward the thread as the tip of his finger came into contact with it.
0.1 second...
...Ooooooom!
A long humming noise followed by a blinding light erupted from the Gate of the Separati as the relic had long since became fractured and broken.
...
A few moments later, the intense light died down as the room returned to normal. The Gate of the Separati had fallen to the ground, split into several pieces before turning into particles and disappearing.
Izroth stood alone at the room's center as his figured stopped flickering and the world around him started to move at its normal speed. He looked down at his trembling arm with several veins protruding from it due to the heavy burden he had just placed on himself.
Swoosh!
Out of nowhere, a single silver feather floated in front of Izroth's eyes as he turned his gaze upward.
There, hovering in the air above, was Empyrean and a huge bird behind him with a familiar appearance.
Izroth had many questions that rushed into his mind. However, he released a light inward sigh and pushed them aside for a moment.
"You have returned safely as promised." Izroth said in a carefree manner.
Empyrean descended from the sky and stood before Izroth as he replied, "As have you, elder brother."
Izroth was a bit taken aback by Empyrean as he spoke. This was the first time he called Izroth elder brother; however, Izroth supposed this was much better than being called father.
More importantly, there was something different about Empyrean. The aura he exuded seemed to have matured and not by a small amount. Furthermore, Empyrean was someone who had a difficult time speaking in clear and complete sentences—as though it required more energy than he cared to invest to converse.
But, now, Empyrean's voice carried a certain air of authority to it that could not be overlooked. Plus, his magic and mana—even Izroth could not tell just how much he had grown. Rather than feeling an overwhelming or massive amount of magic power as he usually did when it came to Empyrean, Izroth detected nothing.
Even after using his Energy Vision Sense, Izroth could not sense a single drop of magic power or mana flowing out of Empyrean's body. This could only mean one of two things.
The first was that Empyrean had somehow lost his magic and mana. The other was the he had reached a level where he was capable of perfectly controlling those forces!
