Raising A Few Wives in a Beast Apocalypse

Chapter 333: Peak deduction

"Let me get this straight. So you're saying that you suspect the Monarch didn't leave the girls alone because it wanted to, but because it couldn't do anything at that time?" Muku asked for confirmation.

"Yes. If it wasn't for that then it wouldn't make sense for Chris' team to show up two months later with wounds all over their bodies and saying that they were running away from Tactoa. After all, other than our two teams, only the Monarch knew what was going on" Audrey replied.

"Hmm. That makes sense. So it notified its team to deal with them after they returned... So where are they now?" Muku asked.

"We're not sure. They didn't stick around for too long after finding us. They just warned us and left. Chris said he had received a message from his brother and was going to look for him. We of course asked him to stay but he refused. He said that we probably already had enough problems on our plates, so he couldn't bother us with more..." Audrey replied.

"How perceptive he is. Now I'm really interested in meeting him... Anyway, from the way you spoke, I'm guessing that wasn't the end of it..." Muku spoke.

"That's right. A month after Chris' group left, we ran into some Tactoa members. It seemed like a coincidence from their surprised looks. However, they also recognised us immediately and attacked on the spot... Of course, as you can see, they failed. Jade took care of them immediately. However, the moment they died, their bodies exploded. The group was different from the first one, so they had no guns. For that reason, Jade didn't have her guard up around them. So she was caught up in the blast. Fortunately, it wasn't anything serious so she wasn't injured. However, it seemed to have agitated her when she came into contact with the black gas which came out of their bodies... Come to think of it, that's when her condition started deteriorating..." Audrey paused to catch her breath.

"Well. This might be more complicated than I thought. Let me guess, after that time. The Tactoa members began showing up every now and then and were stronger or more in number every time?" Muku comment.

The eyes of all the girls widened. They were astonished by how Muku was spot on with his comment. It was almost like he was there watching...

"How did you know Big Brother? Were you spying on us from the other world and just pretending to guess?" Hope was the first to voice what was on everyone's mind...

"Hehe. Come on now. Don't be absurd. I just deduced a conclusion from the information I knew. You see, I already know that Jade reacts negatively to Monarch energy. From the slime incident, we know that the black gas was diluted Monarch energy. Since it came into contact with Jade's body, she has been agitated ever since, right?. So, it's safe to guess that there's some residue still lingering on her. And that's why her condition is getting worse. If I have to guess even further with what I know, I'd say, the same residue is leading the Tactoa group to Jade. It can't be accurate, but can point them in the general direction... If I have to go deeper, I'd say that the Monarch is probably under some restrictions otherwise the residue would be enough to kill Jade let alone pinpoint her location..." Muku explained himself. The more he spoke. The more the girls were amazed.

"Wow, big brother! Have you gotten even smarter? None of us thought of that. Not even Layla who claims to be the smartest. Such a let down (Hey!)" Hope complimented her big brother while casually cursing Layla.

She was bold enough to give her a disdainful look as she spoke.

Layla called out angrily at the unprovoked diss. She had never claimed to be the smartest. And even if she had, wasn't it okay not to think about everything? If she did, wouldn't she be a god instead of a human? At the very least, she would have been Aizen... And she was neither!

Why was everyone bullying her these days? Was it because she let Jade go when she started it back then?

Or maybe she was too nice and they no longer respected her?

Yes, that had to be it. People never take you seriously when you're nice! Well, no more! She won't be nice anymore!

"Hope. If you have something to say, say it to my face. In fact, let's take it outside! Right now!" Layla called as chilly black air radiated from her body.

"Hiiii! No! No, thank you. If you want to take care of me. You should deal with Chloe first!" Hope replied fearfully while pointing at Jade as she hid her face behind Muku.

She wanted no part of Layla. Like at all. Getting frozen wasn't on her agenda for the day. So hell no!

Speaking of which, Hope was probably the wimp of the group when it came to fighting her teammates.

The reason for that was simple actually. The others knew her well enough to block her poison easily if they knew it was coming. So, she'd rather not risk the beating after that.

Sure, she had a fighting chance if she went all out but that would be too dangerous for the other party if she succeeded. The damage might not be something she could fix in time so it was better to avoid the battle completely...

"Hmm, I guess you're right..." Layla replied as she turned to Chloe.

Chloe instantly felt a chill go down her spine when Layla looked at her. She immediately raised her hands to signify her surrender.

She internally cursed Hope the traitor. Like weren't they supposed to be best friends? Like where did that sweet and kind Hope she met back then go?

"Umm. Sis, if you want to find trouble. It should be with Jade. She's the one who started everything..." Chloe mercilessly threw Jade under the bus just like Hope did her.

She couldn't help it. That black ice aura around Layla was just too intimidating!

"Well, sadly Ms Jade is out of commission for now. So I guess I'll have to deal with the two of you disrespectful brats in the meantime. But don't worry. It won't be an elemental battle. It will be physical. Don't you think it's a good way to train our new bodies?" Layla replied with a smile. She didn't even bother to look at the slumbering Jade.

"What a great idea! In fact, it will be a whole tournament!. I'm sure you didn't have anything like that since I left. And unlike the ones in the past. Everyone is equally strong!... Well, if we remove Audrey...and Jade after she takes her fruit. But it's okay, they can fight each other and the rest of you can fight each other. The winner will get another fruit as a reward. It won't improve your body anymore, but just the taste is worth it don't you think? And so you know, I only have one more..." Muku excitedly proposed a tournament.

The girls all gave him a deadpan look...

"You pervert. It's obvious that you just like seeing girls fight. And don't deny it. We noticed how excited you got before. I wouldn't be surprised if you cared more about seeing us fight than the experience we get from it..." Emily chimed in and viciously exposed Muku.

"Cough. Cough. In my defence. Many men like that so it's not my fault I'm one of them... And are you saying you're out?" Muku replied.

"What flawed reasoning. But whatever, it's expected from a man. And I didn't say that. Of course I'm in... Not for the fruit, but the experience... Of course, if I win. I'll accept it" Emily spoke in a "I'm superior" tone but still expressed her participation...

This made Muku and the others feel the urge to roll their eyes but they didn't. They all knew how easy it was for Emily to go from 0-100. And none of them wanted to deal with that heat.

"Great! What about everyone else?" Muku addressed the others. They all agreed except...

"Big brother. Why would you do this? Do you want to see me getting beaten so much?" Hope wasn't feeling it.

She realised that without powers and being the same physically... She no longer had a reason to refuse.

As someone who had never fought a day in her life(physically), she knew that there was a high chance of getting beaten up even when their level was the same. And that's not something she wanted to experience.

So, she did the only thing she could think to do. And that was crying to her big brother and hoping that she was excluded. Unfortunately...

"If you don't fight them, you're fighting Jade when she's better. Those are your only choices..." Muku replied with a smile while saying something which made Hope want to cry.

What kind of choice was fighting Jade? That wasn't a choice at all. That one would definitely break at least one of your bones!

"Big brother..." Hope wanted to try again, but Muku interrupted her.

"Nope. There's no negotiation like I said. Chose one. I'll give you time to think about it since it won't be today. For now, we still have an important matter to address" Muku replied.

He waved Hope off for the time being. He wanted to spoil his sister as much as possible. But she needed to learn how to fight for more protection.

And everyone knew that he didn't play when it came to the group's protection.

Hope deflated beside him after realising that she had no way out...

"Audrey, can you please continue?" Muku spoke as he focused on Audrey again.

"Right..." Audrey replied then continued...
