Chapter 5: Chapter 5: The Solution of Time

"Hmm. This is more efficient."

Lin gazed at the enchanted quill pen moving on its own over a blank notebook. Her cold, emotionless eyes followed its every stroke. A soft silvery glow emanated from the quill's tip, casting a faint light across her face, accentuating her sharp jawline and an air of unyielding authority. Standing tall before her desk, Lin's violet crystal-like eyes tracked every movement of the quill as it scribbled tirelessly under the command of her magic.

The study was silent. Only the faint sound of the quill brushing against the paper broke the stillness. Lin snapped her fingers, and in an instant, the room became immaculate. Books floated back to their respective places, guided by unseen hands. A crystal chandelier hanging low in the center of the room flickered on, spreading a warm glow over the cold marble floor.

Lin watched the quill dancing across the page before murmuring to herself, "This spell is still in the experimental phase. If anything goes wrong, I can fix it later when I feel like it."

With measured grace, she moved to a corner of the room where a large mirror stood, reflecting her commanding figure. Raising a hand, her work attire vanished, replaced by a simple yet elegant white gown.

Delicate lace adorned the edges of its long sleeves and neckline, framing her shoulders and chest. A ribbon with a violet gem tied neatly at her waist added a touch of refinement. The flowing skirt swayed softly with each step, casting graceful shadows on the marble floor. After ensuring her appearance was flawless, Lin left her private chamber without unnecessary ceremony.

The halls of her modest palace were eerily quiet, the only sound being the echo of Lin's footsteps—a rhythm that filled the empty space. Every servant she passed bowed silently, avoiding eye contact. Lin had no need for greetings or small talk—she valued silence above all else.

In the administrative office, Eldrin, her loyal treasurer, awaited her with a stack of documents on the desk. Lin picked them up wordlessly, her sharp eyes scanning the pages, identifying discrepancies like a predator sensing its prey.

"This inconsistency," she said coldly, pointing to a suspicious section of the report. "Small, but consistent every month. You know what it means, don't you?"

Eldrin lowered his head, his face pale. "Forgive me, Your Grace. I will investigate immediately and—"

"No need," Lin interrupted flatly. She placed the document back down with controlled precision. "I'll handle this myself."

The following day, the townsfolk gathered in the palace square, their faces a mixture of curiosity and tension. In the center stood a simple wooden platform, upon which knelt a man from the Southern province, his hands bound. Fear was etched across his face, but he knew that any plea for mercy would be futile.

Lin stood before the platform, still wearing her white gown. Her long, flowing hair swayed gently in the morning breeze. Her gaze was cold and piercing, like that of a goddess delivering judgment without remorse.

"Tax evasion is a crime against both the people and the crown," Lin's voice resonated across the square, calm yet carrying an unbearable weight. "And every crime will meet its reckoning."

Without warning, she raised her hand. A magical circle appeared in the air, radiating a dazzling golden light. In an instant, a burst of energy struck the man, reducing his body to dust without a trace. No screams, only silence enveloped the square.

The crowd watched in stunned silence. Many were paralyzed with fear, but a subtle sense of relief crept into their hearts. The corrupt official who had oppressed them for so long was gone, and Lin's brand of justice brought an unshakable sense of security.

Without a word, Lin descended from the platform with steady steps, her upright posture exuding the strength of an absolute ruler. Beneath her cold demeanor, the people knew she was their unwavering protector. Amidst their fear, there was also peace, for under her reign, corrupt officials would never be allowed to thrive.
