Quiz Game system: starting from Marvel Universe

Chapter 636: Even Kids Aren’t Spared

"So... this is the fifth level punishment of the quiz game?"

Bruce and Tony exchanged glances, both seeing the shock and fear reflected on each other's faces.

As two of the earliest players since the quiz game's arrival, they were naturally experienced. But to be honest, while they had repeatedly reaped benefits from the game, they had gradually lost their sense of reverence for it.

They had simply regarded it as a peculiar game created by some unfathomable deity—a cosmic marvel not worth fearing too much. After all, up until now, the quiz game seemed to be on their side.

However, at this moment, witnessing the abnormal scene in the X-Men world through the light screen, both felt a chilling terror that pierced their very cores.

And it wasn't just them. Almost all the players who had participated in the quiz game now felt a newfound sense of awe and reverence.

Meanwhile, in the X-Men world, as people looked at the massive eyeball that filled the entire sky, panic overtook them. It felt as though the apocalypse had arrived. The fear only deepened when the eyeball emitted a phantom-like beam of light that spread across the planet like rippling water. Society was thrown into utter chaos as everyone believed their end was near.

Indeed, someone did die—but just one person: Sebastian Shaw.

His body gradually disappeared, as though it were an image drawn on a white sheet of paper being erased bit by bit, until not a single trace was left behind.

Along with him, the world's memories of Sebastian Shaw were also erased. Even Erik, who had personally witnessed his mother's murderer vanish, found his memories of Sebastian Shaw fading away.

By the end, all that remained was a vague impression: Sebastian Shaw had angered the quiz game, received the ultimate punishment, and was completely wiped from existence. All traces of him in the multiverse were erased.

This meant that in every X-Men multiverse and parallel timeline, Sebastian Shaw no longer existed. Any thought of his name would only conjure up the warning issued by the quiz game.

It was clearly a powerful display. Erik and Charles exchanged looks, their expressions pale and their breaths shallow, as though they didn't even dare to exhale.

Fortunately, the colossal eyeball that had blotted out the sky disappeared without a sound. The dark clouds scattered, sunlight returned to the earth, but it failed to bring any warmth. The earlier spectacle was simply too terrifying.

Nevertheless, this didn't interrupt the operation of the quiz game in the slightest. Before Magneto and Professor X could exchange more information, they were whisked away to the Eternal Space.

At the same time, four golden beams of light descended.

A voice echoed from above:

[The next round of the quiz game is about to begin. Player Pietro Maximoff, player Stephen Strange, player Peter Parker, player Erik Lehnsherr, player Charles Xavier, and player Logan Howlett are now in position!]

This round of the game had two more players than the previous one. Six golden pillars of light descended, three on each side. On the left were Magneto, Professor X, and Wolverine. On the right were Pietro Maximoff, Peter Parker, and Stephen Strange.

Erik glanced sideways at Logan Howlett, whose wolfish ears twitched atop his head. Indeed, this was his teammate from the previous round. Surprised to meet him again so soon, Erik raised an eyebrow and asked, "Logan, you saw that... eyeball too, didn't you?"

Logan, sizing up Charles, responded in a low voice, "I'm not from your world, so I saw it through the light screen... but it was vivid enough. When that eerie eyeball stared at me, it felt as though my very soul was frozen."

Charles, drenched in cold sweat, rasped, "You know, for a moment, I thought that eyeball was going to completely destroy our world. I believe it could've done it… such a despair-inducing existence. Do you think that if we lose the game, it could bring catastrophic destruction to our worlds?"

Unlike Magneto and Wolverine, this was Professor X's first time participating in the quiz game. Shaken by the eyeball's oppressive presence, he felt utterly unsure of himself.

Erik took a deep breath and shook his head. "I don't think so. In the last round, the losing side didn't face any punishments like that."

Charles had already heard some information about the quiz game from Dr. Banner and others. He knew that while this bizarre game had caused shock and fear across multiple worlds, it had yet to truly destroy anything.

It seemed more like it was guiding the superheroes to better uphold justice and fight villains.

But that eyeball was genuinely horrifying. With his strong psychic powers, Professor X had felt the oppressive influence of the eyeball's presence more directly. He was certain it wasn't an illusion—that thing absolutely had the power to destroy the entire world.

Erik thought for a moment and added, "Forget it. There's no use worrying about that. Since we're here, we can only follow the rules and play the game. It looks like this will be another team battle, just like the last round. Logan, make sure to pull your weight this time."

To Erik, Charles' concern seemed overly pessimistic. So far, the quiz game hadn't shown any intention to destroy entire worlds. As long as they followed the rules, they'd receive rewards.

And even if the game did intend to destroy the world, what could they do about it? Resisting would be futile, so why bother worrying and stressing themselves out?

Charles sighed, rubbing his temples in frustration. Glancing at Erik and Logan, he said solemnly, "I don't have much experience. If we're forming a team... Erik, you should be the captain."

Erik was a little surprised but didn't object. A smirk appeared on his face. "Good, Charles. You've made the right choice. Trust me, I managed to lead Logan to victory last time, so leading you to win this game will be even easier."

Logan rolled his eyes at this. "Oh, come on. I contributed too last time, you know!"

While they caught up, the three players on the other side were also discussing the earlier eyeball incident.

Quicksilver and Stephen Strange were seasoned players who had participated in previous games. Between them stood a boyish-looking young man: Peter Parker from the Marvel universe (Holland's version).

Compared to the other two Spider-Men from parallel universes, this Peter was much younger. In fact, he was still just a kid—a middle schooler, to be exact.

At the moment, Peter timidly looked around at the unfamiliar surroundings. Without the comforting presence of his aunt and uncle, his eyes were red and teary, as though he might burst into tears at any moment.

Quicksilver shook his head. "This quiz game is so inhumane. It even drags kids into it!"

Stephen Strange shrugged. "What can you do? He's Spider-Man. It's his destiny, and there's no escaping it."
