chapter 21
21 – Ceremonial Training
And three days later, I received a total of 1 female and 7 male recruits, including Lucia.
As expected, all of the guys assigned to me, except for Lucia, were half-dead, but it’s okay.
Just as it was possible to correct a considerable amount of waste in Korea through training and grinding, it will be possible here as well.
“From now on, I am your captain. So, before going to a full-scale war under the command of Count Salzheim, I will correct your rotten mental heads and weak fighting skills for a month.”
In my previous life, I came out of the special forces unit and took that as my career and worked at PMC for more than 5 years.
“If you have any complaints, you can pack up right now and go home. No, f*ck you and get out of here!”
The eight recruits in front of me heard that and answered in unison.
“No!”
“Okay then, let me tell you what kind of training you guys will be going through from now on. Before you go through this training, answer only yes or no unless I specifically ask you a question. If you break this rule, I’ll put my head on the ground and roll it until I want to die.”
“Yes!”
“Very good. Then, the training you will do with me for one month from today is ritual training and
Cultivate physical strength. Since you don’t know what my diet is, I’ll tell you briefly. You learn how to move by matching the movements of your arms and legs with the idiot next to you. Doesn’t it look so easy?”
In the Korean military, formal training is no longer considered necessary, so it is considered a training that is rarely repeated after going round and round at the training center.
However, in this game world dominated by cold weapons such as knives, spears, and bows, it is like a magic spell that can transform idiots who can’t hold a spear properly into human beings in just one month.
For no reason, teaching them how to hold and stab spears for a month, as well as spearmanship or swordsmanship beyond that, just like other mercenaries teach them, doesn’t help these guys survive very much.
That’s also true, in order to use a martial art based on one-on-one fighting skillfully on the battlefield, you need at least 10 years of training, or equivalent real-life experience.
f*ck, where would you use it after learning it for only a month?
When Lucia heard this, she tilted her head as she shot her questioning eyes to mean that this was the training that even a mage like herself needed.
“Lucia, you might think that since you are a wizard, you don’t need this kind of training. But what if an enemy attacks while casting a magic spell? Could it be that you’re just going to stay idly by until someone comes to help and then get stabbed to death?”
“That, that… No.”
“That’s why wizards who are called first-class wizards in the mercenary industry, originally great wizards, sometimes practice martial arts such as swordsmanship in case an enemy attacks while using magic. So don’t be dissatisfied and follow me.”
“Yes, I see… Captain of the Ten.”
After convincing her like that, I now handed out to her mercenaries a bracelet weighing about 2.5 Kg each and a sand bag.
“What you need to survive as a mercenary for a long time is stamina. Stamina and tenacity, a youngster without these two things will die in melee combat even if he is lucky enough to dodge arrows and magic. So from now on, you idiot suckers, wear these bracelets on both arms, tie sandbags with bandages on your legs, and train to build up your stamina. However, since Lucia is a wizard, she doesn’t have to wear this.”
At that, the new recruits complained with a look of astonishment.
“f*ck, I didn’t want to go under this son of a b*tch ever since the other captains of the Ten Commandments said that this man had the least amount of time.”
“Isn’t he just a madman?”
“Shut up, motherf*cker. If it’s black, you have to If you’re not going to face that f*cking porter or a dungeon, just shut up and do what you’re told.”
I wore armor and the same military gear as the other guys, and I even wore bracelets and sandbags to set an example.
“I participate in the same training as you guys. So shut up and follow me. If you enter the battlefield right now, you guys will die like premature ejaculation. I will regenerate you into human scumbags. So, I will make it possible for you to come back without dying. Then, from now on, the ritual training will begin. I will show you an example myself, so you can watch it and follow it.”
And I showed the basic movements of formal training based on my experience of rolling several soldiers in Korea.
The movement of moving the left foot and right arm simultaneously back and forth at the correct angle, and then moving the right foot and left arm equally while moving back and forth, left and right.
“Today, I just need to learn how to walk like a newborn baby, no more, no less. If all 8 people can do this properly in line with the movements, then today’s training is over. You can rest well after that. I don’t think you guys can do something as simple as this that even a 1-year-old can do!”
In the original ritual training, walking is not very difficult when done alone.
If you learn the movements through trial and error a few times, you will be able to do everything from changing directions back and forth to walking far.
So our squeaky chicks glared at the word that training was over quickly.
“Are you sure?”
“Men don’t talk twice. If the 8 of you can walk properly for 10 minutes, the training for today will end there. And if you finish it in the morning, I’ll rent an inn and feed you alcohol and meat until your stomach bursts.”
“Are you sure you keep that promise?”
“I, Martin Mayer, never speak twice.”
Among the happy ones was Lucia.
Looking at him smiling while wagging his silver tail, he seems to be thinking of getting me some peach pie after training…
Will today’s training be over in the morning? When I thought it would take a few days no matter how fast.
And I caught the mercenaries, who were glaring at the thought of alcohol and meat, as a group and sometimes one-on-one, and kindly taught me how far to raise my arms.
“Hey you f*cking asshole! Have you lost your ears? Raise your arms just this far, and raise your legs a little more! Damn, it makes me wonder how they moved when they were young and toddling around. Could it be that even at that age, you couldn’t walk and just rolled around?”
“Whether you did some f*cking cutting before you became a mercenary or pickpocketed at the thieves’ guild, that doesn’t matter! Damn it, so shut up and shake your limbs! Do you pick? Damn, did you learn to move like a lady from a noble family by learning from the thieves guild? Forget all that Don’t move carefully, you f*cking bastard! “
“You can’t neglect this kind of training just because you’re a wizard! I don’t know if you’re a high-ranking wizard, and you can shoot advanced magic even if you fall far behind. A low-level mage should work behind the spearmen and link them with fireball-like magic! To do that, it’s important to practice matching the limbs with them! Shake your limbs louder, if you don’t want to die on the battlefield!”
Like a swearing Marine Corps sergeant, I put it in my ear and instilled a concept, and the speed at which the guys acquired the knowledge that was a ritual went off the rails.
I didn’t absorb everything in one go like a sponge absorbs water, but after an hour of hard teaching, I had some results.
“Baker, take 20 steps forward. Turn left! Let’s see where the way to walk on that stone head went right in.”
At that, Baker angled his arms and legs, took 20 steps, and succeeded in making a correct turn to the left.
“Okay, then all 8 of us line up! Follow me and walk according to the ceremony for 10 minutes from now! If you walk without any mistakes for 10 minutes this morning, I’ll give you alcohol and meat as I promised! I don’t think you will disappoint me by not being able to walk like a three-year-old.”
Everyone looked at me with expectant eyes at those words.
“All arms and legs, move forward!”
At those words, Lucia and the others took a step forward.
“Turn left! Left!”
When I suddenly told them to turn around, the line of guys who were walking well in a line quickly became disorganized.
“What the f*ck? Hey Baker! Aren’t you right? This Munding is a bastard!”
“It’s so f*cking stupid.”
“Um, um… Just do it again. Don’t be too much.”
“No, why the f*ck can’t you turn left? Damn it, it sucks.”
They started to curse at each other, but if you roll over and die through training, you’ll come to the conclusion that I am the evil of all evil.
Then the relationship will get better, and the unity will become stronger in the process, right?
“Everybody look at me and stand still! And get down on the ground like I do now! In that state, if you do one, bend your arms, and if you do two, stretch your arms! Your heads are assholes. Come on, one!”
At this, the guys bent their arms in unison and kept a soft distance so that their chests could touch the ground.
“If you move from that state, do it again! When I say one, I say spirit, and when I say two, focus!”
Lucia must have been weak in her stamina, she was in a bent state and she was less than a minute later, her arms were shaking.
In the meantime, her chest trembled as she touched the ground.
“One!”
“Spirit!”
“Two!”
“Concentrate!”
When I gave a command, they shouted spirit and concentration, bent over and screamed.
If it wasn’t for Lucia, she would have liked to have her done like this 30 times, but she couldn’t force her sorceress too much.
“Everybody wake up! Start all over again! Walk with your left foot and right foot in sync! Go ahead! I’m going to run it all night long until it’s done, so go with the determination to do something! If you want to become a person from being a dick, walk straight! Spears and swords are next, you f*cking bastards!”
When I pressed down with the authority of the leader of the decathlon, Lucia and the others went back to their original positions and started walking from the beginning.
It got a little better than the first time, but after telling me to turn left and then turn right on the spot and then walk now, the motion didn’t match again.
“Get down! Now, one more!”
“Spirit!”
As the spirit started again, Lucia, who had only used her wand at the academy, began to shake her arms again.
“Lucia, are you tired?”
“Yes…”
“If you want to quit because it’s hard, you can quit right now. However, if I just give up and stop here, I won’t be able to become a great mage or a high-ranking mage in the future. Can’t you really?”
Lucia lay on her stomach, her arms trembling violently, and she looked at me with tears in her eyes.
“I can… Even thinking of the priest who raised me…”
“Okay then, do as much as you can. You can do it, I guarantee.”
“Yes…”
After encouraging Lucia, I immediately looked at them and shouted.
“Everybody wake up! If you don’t make it this time, I’ll make you run at full speed for ten minutes!”
“Yes!”
“Forward! Turn left!”
“One, two, one, two!”
In this way, as I expected, I beat them all morning until the sun went down, gave them all kinds of spirits, and even strengthened their physical strength.
I didn’t beat myself up, but I tried to increase my physical strength through canter, jumping, and various gymnastics without getting hurt.
After training, they collapsed exhausted, as I expected.
After a month like that, we finished the training we had been dying for, and we finally set out on a new battlefield as part of Count Salzheim’s army.
Dalton gathered all the mercenaries of the 10th Captain or higher before going to war.
