Sky River Rift is one of the most symbolic location in Midland.
In its background story, there stood a mountain before the rift. Later, an extremely powerful man was enlightened with a superior sword skill there. With one stroke, he severed the top of the mountain from the rest of it, between which lay a canyon thousands of miles long.
Right in the middle of the rift was the mountain top, not even 10 meters wide.
It is one of the best places for a duel.
Wushan is already waiting.
Mountains outside the rift are crowded with players who want to watch the excitement, some of whom even prepare to record it.
A Sword from the West hasn’t arrived yet.
Wushan looks around him and feels quite good about himself seeing all those people.
He can’t help but starting to imagine how it will feel like when he beats up A Sword from the West with everybody watching.
He quirks his mouth into a wicked smile.
Then he hears cries in surprise.
Opening his eyes, he sees A Sword from the West coming, with those same beginner gears he had last time.
Wushan sneers inwardly. Is A Sword from the West throwing the handle after the blade? Wushan thinks. Otherwise, it will do if A Sword from the West buys average level gears.
Though that won’t change the result of this duel, he doesn’t have to lose too badly.
Then come all sorts of comments.
“What happened to A Sword from the West? Going into a duel with beginner gears?”
“Is this some new skill, hiding his true power?”
“It doesn’t seem like it. I can’t find A Sword from the West on either the power chart or gear chart.”
“What the hell?”
“…”
A Sword from the West jumps off his feet, then he soars and lands on an elevated platform in front of him.
In a plain beginner short gown, he looks as aloof and overweening as ever, his handsome face the target of admiration for numerous female players.
In comparison, Wushan, who is decorated by glittering super gears seems disadvantaged.
Wushan chuckles and asks on purpose: “Our game guru, A Sword from the West, why are you dressing like this? Is this a slight on me?”
He knows A Sword from the West was set up by Crane among the Clouds, however, he did that intentionally to rake up his bitter past.
Out of his expectation, Ji Yunting smiles slightly with a nod: “Right, I don’t think you are a match for me.”
Pointing at himself, he says in a voice which isn’t very loud but loud enough for everyone to hear: “See my beginner gears? This is enough to take you down.”
Wushan: “…”
He turns dark and says in a fierce tone: “Game guru is indeed more courageous than the average, sharper, too. I would love to see how you’ll manage to beat me with your absurd beginner gears!”
The substitute weapon he has in his hand starts to glow and he is ready to strike.
Ji Yunting suddenly lifts a hand. “Wait!”
Wushan pauses. “Do you have anything to say?”
Ji Yunting says indifferently: “You’ve asked me to return Breaking Cloud if I lose. But you didn’t say what’ll be at stake if you lose.”
Wushan blurts out: “How will I lose?”
Ji Yunting clicks his tongue: “I don’t think you should speak in absolute terms, leaving no room for compromise since those who talked as you do had their face slapped in the end.”
Wushan took a deep breath: “What do you want?”
He doesn’t think he will lose.
Ji Yunting speaks without thinking: “You have the Cold Spring of Heavenly Pond, right? Give me ten drops if you lose.”
The fact that he relies in no time lets people wonder whether he has his eyes on that a long time ago.
