Chapter 163: Golden Armor
The monster on night watch was at the edge of the camp, sitting on a rock, looking around.
Just as he turned his head to look south, suddenly, from behind the rock, a white figure sprang up from the snow!
A gleaming sword tip pierced into his back, the blade tip bloodied as it emerged from his chest. At the same time, just as this monster opened its mouth to scream in pain, a hand reached around from behind and slapped a handful of snow into the monster's mouth, muffling his cries!
The monster fell backward, hot blood gushing from his mouth, melting the snow, but he could only make a hissing sound!
The white figure behind him supported the monster's body as it fell, then like a cat, the figure slid down along the edge of the rock, silently infiltrating the camp.
The nearest target was a monster sleeping a short distance from the rock. This monster lay on his back, with an axe under his head, snoring loudly.
The white figure drifted to his side, slowly bent down, then suddenly covered the monster's mouth. The monster woke with a jolt, but before he could struggle, the sharp blade had already sliced into his throat, cutting his windpipe!
The monster's body convulsed violently. The white figure, however, coolly held his mouth closed, pressing a knee into the monster's chest to suppress any further sound.
That's two!
There were six monsters in the camp; two down!
Of the remaining four monsters, two were dozing, leaning against each other. The Monster Leader was sleeping under a rock beside the fire, with another monster attending to him, sleeping not far off.
The white figure slowly stood straight. By the firelight, the figure's upright stance revealed the silhouette of a human.
He stealthily moved toward the two dozing monsters, holding a long sword in his hand.
He walked slowly, each step gently placed on the snow, ensuring he made no sound, his movement appearing almost in slow motion.
Finally, he reached the two monsters, and the blade in his hand gently extended, aiming directly at the heart of the one on the left.
But then, an unexpected event occurred!
A gust of wind suddenly swept through, causing the flames to flicker wildly. With the wind, a half-burned branch from the fire pit was caught up and landed on the sleeping monster.
The monster's eyes snapped open, just in time to see the tip of a sword about to pierce him!
The monster let out a startled roar, awakening the companions beside him as well as the other two monsters in the camp!
Thunk!
The sword still pierced the monster's heart, halfway in, and the monster let out a wretched scream. As he violently struggled, the white figure pressed closer!
In his other hand, a dagger slipped down, aiming for the monster on the right.
The monster roared, his full strength pushing his impaled companion aside, while he grabbed for an axe from the ground and swung it.
The dagger in the white figure's hand clashed against the axe blade with a crisp sound.
The monster roared again, his arms shuddering.
By now, the monster attending the leader had already rushed over, raising an axe to strike at the white figure's back.
The white figure had no choice but to retreat, spinning his body swiftly. Like a Ghost, he narrowly evaded the axe blade coming from behind.
Meanwhile, the injured Monster Leader had leapt up, letting out a low growl at the white figure.
The leader drew a broad-bladed knife from his side; with his roar, a faint red glow emanated from his entire body, even spreading onto the blade's edge.
As the blade descended, the white figure retreated swiftly, moving like the wind, but as the blade fell, the red glow burst out. The white figure raised a dagger to block, only to see it split in two by the glowing force, the broken blade flying off.
The red light sliced even the rock beside him in half!
The white figure reacted extremely quickly, discarding the broken dagger and charging at the leader with sword in hand!
In midair, he glided toward the Monster Leader like a great bird. The Monster Leader lowed and quickly retreated, his back nearly against the rock.
The white figure's sword blade came down in a vertical chop, the Monster Leader raising his broad knife to block.
Crack! The knife shattered!
The Monster Leader cried out in pain, spewing blood, but the red glow on his body only intensified.
The sword blade continued its path, striking the Monster Leader's shoulder directly!
Yet the eerie red glow surrounding the Monster Leader prevented the blade from severing his shoulder, instead becoming lodged in his shoulder bone!
The white figure let out a low growl, switching to grip the sword with both hands, pressing downwards, attempting to decapitate the Monster Leader.
The Monster Leader, ignoring everything else, grasped the blade with both hands, blood streaming from his palms, yet still he roared with all his might!
