Chapter 288 Living Together (4)_1
Hansen Ruiz drove into Shuian New Village and stopped in front of a large villa. From its balcony, one could see the ocean.
"You lied again!" Rachel Bailey turned her head, accusing him of deceiving her again.
"I said I would take you back, but I never specified it was to the Emerald Garden Building," Hansen Ruiz chuckled softly, his smile resembling that of a sly fox.
He pulled Rachel Bailey out of the car. From seemingly nowhere, he produced a large bunch of keys and stuffed the clinking mass into Rachel's hands. Gazing deeply into her eyes, he said, "Rachel, this is my home. These are the keys to all the rooms in this villa. Move in here. From now on, you'll be the lady of this house."
What?
Move in here with him? His home, her moving in—didn't that mean cohabitation?
Rachel Bailey's first reaction was that Hansen Ruiz wanted her to cohabit with him. Outraged, she threw the keys back at him, yelling furiously, "Hansen Ruiz, what do you take me for? I won't live with you!"
Even though it was popular for lovers nowadays to live together before marriage, or even never marry and just maintain a cohabitating relationship, she didn't want that. She was a conservative woman at heart. She hoped for a proper wedding ceremony, yearning to give her innocence to her other half on their wedding night in the bridal chamber.
The very notion that Hansen Ruiz wanted them to live together greatly diminished her fondness for him.
"Rachel, please marry me!"
His next words left Rachel Bailey dumbstruck. She stared at him in disbelief.
So, he wasn't asking her to cohabit with him; he was asking her to marry him!
Marry him?
She hadn't even agreed to his courtship, and now he was proposing to her? Today, his mother had shown up and nearly run her out of T City. After all that, he was still proposing?
"Rachel, please marry me. I'll treat you as well as Glades spoils his wife. Please believe me; I can make my own decisions regarding my marriage," Hansen Ruiz said tenderly and affectionately. He bent slightly at the waist, his hands cradling Rachel Bailey's small face, caressing it gently, his eyes brimming with warmth and affection.
As the words left his mouth, he felt a sense of reassurance, as if he had known all along that he wanted to marry her.
His feelings for her had deepened to the point where he was willing to enter the fortress of marriage.
Rachel Bailey snapped back to her senses. She gave him a complicated look, shrugged his large hands from her face, turned, and strode away.
It was all too sudden!
Her friend Julia Bluen's sudden marriage to Glades Horne had felt abrupt, something she found hard to digest quickly. Now, her own love life seemed just as precipitous.
A flash marriage!
The term flickered through her mind.
Julia Bluen's marriage to Glades Horne was a flash marriage. If she married Hansen Ruiz, it would also be a flash marriage. After all, they had only known each other for two months.
She couldn't accept such a sudden change.
Hansen Ruiz stood still, quietly watching her depart. He knew she needed time to think, so he didn't pursue her.
Only after her figure had completely vanished from his sight did he let out a rueful chuckle. So many women out there want to marry me. Why am I fixated on this one woman who has nothing?
Love is full of surprises; no one can control it.
Julia Bluen, accompanied by Vice President Lee, drove towards the Golden Phoenix Inn. She had an appointment with a client there.
Julia was driving, with Vice President Lee in the passenger seat. Vice President Lee held a large yellow document bag containing Hua Yi's toy designs. These designs had been photographed and printed, then compiled into a catalog-like collection, complete with toy names and basic information. This allowed clients to select their preferred toys from the catalog, after which they could negotiate prices and production quantities to finalize the cooperation. Once settled, Hua Yi could begin production.
In the back seat were several large bags also filled with toys, specifically high-tech ones. There were dolls that could talk, sing, and twirl as if alive; remote-controlled toy cars; and various remote-controlled flying toys like airplanes, spaceships, flying saucers, and birds—a whole assortment. On the market, each of these toys would cost several hundred yuan and were suitable for children aged seven to fourteen.
To meet the client, Julia Bluen naturally brought along the most popular and highest-priced toys. If the client was satisfied and chose even one item for production, she would make a good profit.
She was eager to earn her first pot of gold in business. Although Hua Yi was currently profitable, those orders had been secured by the previous General Manager and Vice President Lee, not by her. Therefore, she didn't consider that income truly her own "first pot of gold."
"Vice President Lee, is this General Manager Wang difficult to deal with? And what does she like?" Julia Bluen asked while driving, wanting to get a clearer picture of the client's personality. This way, she could cater to her preferences during the meeting, make a good first impression, and facilitate the upcoming cooperation.
Businesspeople were generally smooth operators, and Julia Bluen was well aware of this.
"General Manager Wang is a woman in her thirties, shrewd and capable. I've heard she's rather difficult to deal with because she's very picky and a bit sharp-tongued. She's also divorced. The company she runs now was originally co-founded by her and her husband. However, after they started making money, her husband had an affair and opened another factory with his mistress. General Manager Wang tried to save her marriage, but when she couldn't, she decisively filed for divorce and got the company. Because of her unhappy personal life, she tends to be a bit jealous of people in happy marriages. As for her preferences, no one seems to know if she has any particular likes," Vice President Lee explained to Julia Bluen.
Jealous of people with happy marriages?
Julia Bluen couldn't help but chuckle. I'm one of those happily married people now. Won't the client be jealous when we meet later?
"Don't worry, President Bluen," Vice President Lee said, smiling reassuringly as if she had guessed Julia's thoughts. "Even if General Manager Wang envies happily married people, she's still rational. When it comes to actual business negotiations, she'll be professional and won't let personal matters interfere."
