Chapter 277 Who Dares to be Rude to My Wife (4)_1
"Who dares to be disrespectful to my wife?"
A low voice, carrying the fury of a storm, came through.
As the sound faded, Glades Horne's tall and robust figure, radiating a chilling aura, was already positioned behind Julia Bluen, followed naturally by his two bodyguards. Julia Bluen didn't even know when he had arrived, but his timing couldn't have been more perfect.
His domineering hand reached out, wrapped with a protective air, and wound around Julia Bluen's waist; then she was swiftly drawn into a warm and solid embrace. It was an embrace Julia had grown familiar with, yet with each one, she felt a new shockwave as his affection for her continued to deepen.
Glades Horne's handsome face was somber. His eyes were stormy with cold fury, as if even his hair was standing on end with anger. Julia Bluen was his soft spot, his Achilles' heel. If anyone dared to hurt even a hair on her head, he would make them cry for their parents and struggle to find their footing. Although Floyd Thomas hadn't harmed Julia, his insolence and threats toward her were just as unacceptable.
Glades Horne stared coldly at Floyd Thomas. After delivering that line, his lips habitually pursed again—a gesture so characteristic of him that changing it on the spot would have been truly difficult. In Julia's presence, however, he tried to minimize it. His gaze was a hundred percent lethal. With just one glare, Floyd Thomas felt his murderous intent, sending a chill down his spine despite all his experience as a bodyguard.
With a wave of his hand, the two bodyguards understood his gesture and immediately stepped forward. They forcefully took Rachel Bailey from Floyd Thomas's grasp. Julia Bluen quickly stepped out of Glades Horne's embrace and took Rachel Bailey from the bodyguards, calling out to her anxiously.
Glades Horne glanced at Rachel Bailey. He had no significant impression of the petite woman, but he knew she was one of his wife's most important friends. For his dear wife's sake, he would not let Floyd Thomas off easily.
This was a case of 'love me, love my dog,' perhaps.
His grim eyes swept over them once more, and the two bodyguards assumed a fighting stance.
"Who are you guys? What are you trying to do?" Floyd Thomas didn't recognize Glades Horne; he only knew of his reputation. Given Glades Horne's status, Floyd Thomas, as a mere bodyguard, was not in a position to recognize such a person.
Glades Horne didn't speak but directed the actions of his two bodyguards with his eyes. This alone signaled to Floyd Thomas that Glades Horne was no ordinary man. He thought he was dealing with a Mafia Society boss.
"Slap his face! He dared to intimidate Julia. Make him unable to speak for a month!" Glades Horne was truly furious. Though usually averse to excessive violence, he now actually ordered his two bodyguards to slap Floyd Thomas.
The bodyguards immediately took action. Floyd Thomas was also a bodyguard and knew some martial arts. The three of them began to fight right in front of the Emperor Hotel. People inside the hotel recognized Glades Horne and didn't dare to interfere. They just watched from a distance, thinking to themselves, That man is truly bold, daring to lay a hand on the Horne Family's young mistress!
It was said that Glades Horne, a man who doted on his wife, wouldn't mind even if that wife had once been his sister-in-law—his previous wife's younger sister. He spoiled her to the skies. Anything his wife liked, he would gather for her. Rumor had it that the CEO's Office of Valence Group even had a special snack counter. This was because the relatively unknown Mrs. Horne, with her ordinary tastes, enjoyed snacks like any regular woman. So, Glades Horne meticulously collected his wife's favorite snacks in his office, ready to indulge her whenever she visited him at the company. Such attentiveness, consideration, and pampering were rare among men. It made everyone sure that Glades Horne was a husband who doted on his wife.
If anyone ever disrespected his wife, he would fly into a rage. He was already unpredictable, and with his impressive status and ruthless tactics, nobody dared to cross him, fearing they wouldn't come out in one piece.
There were rumors that Cosmos Group had mistreated Julia Bluen, and now Valence Group was constantly targeting them. Everyone was waiting to see when Cosmos Group would collapse. Watching the process caused trepidation, as Glades Horne did not dismantle Cosmos Group at once. He did it with a playful attitude, as if watching a show and encouraging everyone else to watch too. His intent was to make an example of them, warning everyone that whoever dared to harm his wife, Julia Bluen, would meet the same fate.
His methods and cold ruthlessness might have cast a shadow in people's hearts. This left a negative impression and led to him being labeled as a cunning businessman. Yet, the idea that 'no businessman is without cunning' was considered quite normal. However, his devotion to his wife made him seem like a man of deep feelings, one who wouldn't casually start a relationship only to abandon it. This devotion made all women infatuated with him. But alas, at that moment, his eyes only had room for one woman: Julia Bluen.
The story between him and Julia Bluen seemed to be full of secrets, but nobody really knew the details or dared to ask for them.
Floyd Thomas was alone, while Wade Coleman and the other bodyguard made two. Soon, Floyd Thomas was at a disadvantage. Wade Coleman and the other bodyguard adhered strictly to Glades Horne's orders, focusing only on slapping Floyd Thomas's face. Once Floyd Thomas began to lose ground, they relentlessly slapped him. SMACK! SMACK! SMACK! Floyd Thomas tried to fight back and evade the strikes, but he still received several solid slaps across his face.
Julia Bluen was still shaking Rachel Bailey. The strong scent of alcohol emanating from Rachel caused Julia's eyebrows to knit tightly together. She couldn't understand how Rachel could have been so foolish as to drink that much.
Glades Horne stood like a mountain beside her, his eyes tenderly watching her. He paid no further attention to the bodyguards completing their task; he trusted his orders would be carried out. He also didn't join Julia in calling out to Rachel, because he didn't want to touch any woman other than Julia Bluen. His sharp gaze discerned that Rachel wasn't just drunk but had been knocked unconscious. Thus, he didn't stop Julia from continuously shaking and calling out to Rachel.
The scene unfolding downstairs caught the eye of Alwin Ruiz. She had initially approached the window of her room on the fifth floor to take in the view outside, only to witness the altercation. Although she was high up, she could still make out everything on the ground clearly. This was especially true since Floyd Thomas was one of her men; she recognized him by his build. She had thought Floyd Thomas had left the hotel earlier and was surprised to see him being intercepted. He was now being attacked by two men, receiving a slap every few minutes.
