Chapter 274 Who Dares to be Rude to My Wife (1)_1
Listening to Rachel Bailey's words, Mrs. Alwin did not change her opinion. She believed Rachel was putting on an act.
However, Floyd Thomas, who stood behind Mrs. Alwin, developed a bit of fondness for Rachel.
Floyd had always been in favor of Hansen, feeling that Hansen had the right to pursue his own happiness, and Hansen had always been chasing the life he wanted. Now, Rachel hadn't accepted Hansen's pursuit, yet Mrs. Alwin came to Rachel so forcefully, trying to get rid of her with money. It was too overbearing, too unreasonable. Anyone facing such an event would naturally become angry. What Floyd admired about Rachel was her perseverance, refusing to let her self-esteem be tarnished by money.
In this money-driven real world, Rachel's persistence was indeed rare. Five million! Not five hundred yuan, nor five thousand yuan—a full five million yuan! For ordinary people, it might be an amount they couldn't earn in a lifetime. Yet Rachel didn't care about it because in her heart, some things were worth more than five million.
Floyd gradually understood why Hansen had taken a special interest in Rachel. The girl possessed strength and confidence. She didn't dislike money but preferred to earn it with her own hands. She faced Mrs. Alwin with neither servility nor overbearingness, not allowing her dignity to be compromised.
Floyd could imagine that this girl would undoubtedly make a name for herself someday. Even if she couldn't compare to the Ruiz Family, she would still command respect because those who believe in themselves are always the strong ones in life.
"You speak better than you sing. Miss Rachel, your mouth surely knows how to talk a good game. I bet it's your mouth that Hansen found fun and different," Mrs. Alwin sneered. It was uncertain whether she was accustomed to the intrigue of the wealthy class or if her schemes were too deep. Despite her boiling anger, her expression remained calm, her face showing no obvious fury other than her overly sharp eyes. Her words were filled with insinuations and mockery yet sounded as casual as a chat.
"If Madam wishes to know Mr. Hansen's opinion, why not ask him directly?" Rachel responded.
Mrs. Alwin suppressed her sneer. This young woman was not easy to deal with. She realized that. It seemed gentleness was ineffective. If gentleness wouldn't work, she could be tough. She refused to believe that she, Ellie Wallace, could not deal with a mere country girl.
"Miss Rachel, I'll ask you once again, this check for five million yuan, do you want it or not? Let me be clear, whether you take this check or not, I want you to leave T City immediately, and I'll ensure you never see Hansen again. I'm someone who never gives up until I achieve my goal." The implication couldn't be clearer. If Rachel didn't recognize what was good for her, Mrs. Alwin would forcibly remove her from Hansen's world.
Mrs. Alwin knew she couldn't control her son. She could only target Rachel. As long as Rachel left, Hansen would gradually forget her. Then she could ask the Horne Family's eldest son to intervene, have Hansen return home to attend a matchmaking banquet, and select a woman compatible with the Ruiz Family status as the young mistress of the Ruiz Family.
Mrs. Alwin conveniently ignored one thing: if Hansen truly loved Rachel, and wouldn't marry anyone but her, then even if Rachel ascended to heaven or descended to the eighteenth level of Hell, Hansen would find her. Hansen's capabilities were far beyond Mrs. Alwin's imagination.
"I won't take the money. T City isn't your Courtyard, Madam. You have no right to send me away. I repeat, I've not clung to Mr. Hansen. If you believe my presence affects Mr. Hansen, feel free to speak with him, for the decision rests with him. In fact, I do hope you'll talk to Mr. Hansen, so he'll stop appearing in my world and bringing unnecessary trouble to me," Rachel said, her backbone straight, unwilling to be defeated by Mrs. Alwin.
Inwardly, she was grateful a million times over that she had not agreed to Hansen's pursuit, glad she understood that she and Hansen were not from the same world. Otherwise, with a mother-in-law like this, even if she truly married Hansen, it wouldn't be long before the mother-in-law's manipulations forced them to break up.
Mrs. Alwin sneered. She no longer said anything to Rachel and simply turned her head, instructing Floyd, "Take her away! Remember, out of T City. Anywhere will do, as long as it's out of T City. Search her and take all her money and any IDs she has. I want to see how arrogant she can be when she's penniless and has no IDs to even prove her identity."
Judging by the way she spoke, Mrs. Alwin seemed ruthless, almost like a mafia matriarch.
Upon hearing Mrs. Alwin's words, Rachel felt like her lungs were about to explode with rage. Arrogant? Who was truly the arrogant one here?
"Madam, this… might not be a good idea. If the young master finds out, it will be a serious matter," Floyd cautiously advised. "You know how the young master is. If he truly likes Miss Rachel, even if she vanished from this world, he would remain chaste for her."
Mrs. Alwin's face darkened, but she also recognized the truth in Floyd's words.
When Hansen fell in love, he was totally devoted and incredibly faithful. If this incident came to Hansen's knowledge, the entire Ruiz Family wouldn't be able to withstand his anger.
Yet, she genuinely found Rachel disagreeable and did not want to see her in Hansen's world any longer.
RING, RING, RING...
At that moment, Rachel's phone suddenly rang, jarringly, like a clap of thunder, shaking Mrs. Alwin completely and making her react as if she had seen a ghost. Rachel watched with inward cold laughter. Truly, those who frequently did guilty deeds reacted intensely even to a mere phone call; perhaps she thought it was Hansen calling?
Mrs. Alwin truly believed it was Hansen on the call. She desperately wanted to snatch the phone Rachel had taken out. However, her poise kept her seated and unmoving, her gaze intently fixed on Rachel, warning her with her eyes that if the call was from Hansen, Rachel had better answer carefully to avoid arousing Hansen's suspicions.
