Chapter 268 Heart-to-Heart (3)_1
Those who tear apart someone's family deserve to be punished. It's just that Mother still loves him, and if I make a big move against Father, it would upset her terribly. She might even think I'm deeply unfilial. Of course, I could never bring myself to harm Father. Even with all the resentment, he's still my own father. The most I could do is cut off his finances and strip him of his status as a master of the Horne Family. Attacking James, on the other hand, that's a bit of a dilemma. It wasn't easy for James to get where he is today.
"Glades, do you really have brotherly love for James?" Julia suddenly asked.
Glades looked deeply into her eyes, satisfied with the surge of emotion he felt in his heart, pleased that she could finally see through his thoughts. She had improved a lot compared to just over a month ago.
Glades did not answer Julia.
"James isn't actually at fault. Glades, no matter what, don't hurt him. Everything that has happened wasn't willingly chosen by him; being the son of a mother who breaks up families was not his choice. Actually, he's more pained than you are. You know very well how he has lived at home all these years. If it weren't for your protection, he'd be worse off than a servant." Julia didn't have much fondness for James, but she was clear that he was not to blame.
She didn't want Glades to hurt James in the future when he sought to address his mother's grievances.
Glades pressed his lips together but remained silent.
Seeing him press his lips together without a word, Julia didn't continue. She merely caressed his face with her fingertips, hoping her tenderness would smoothen the discord in his heart.
I really don't want the emotional entanglements of the previous generation to affect ours.
"James is my brother."
After what seemed like a long time, Glades finally said in a low voice.
That one sentence showed he still had brotherly feelings for James.
"I want a child now. Glades, this time I really want a child, even if his arrival would affect my work and life, I still look forward to it." Julia changed the subject, not wanting to dwell on that oppressive topic. She believed Glades was a man of deep feelings and righteousness; he wouldn't hurt someone without good reason.
Once again, Glades looked deeply at her.
His gaze became exceptionally probing, filled with love and indulgence for Julia.
His lips began to curve into a smile, a hint of mirth escaping.
His large hand started to slide to Julia's waist, intending to undo the sash of her robe. He teased with an ambiguous smile, "It's rare for my wife to invite me so directly. As her husband, how could I refuse? Let's put in some overtime to make a baby."
BOOM!
Julia's face instantly flushed red again.
She quickly caught Glades's large hand, preventing it from wantonly sliding under her clothes. His touch always carried such heat. When he touched her, she felt herself burning, losing all reason, wanting only to meld with him and plunge into the fiery sea of desire to be consumed to ashes.
"I have to work tomorrow, hmm, and my waist is still a bit sore." Last night he was insatiable, like a wild beast. Fortunately, I still have today off to rest at home. If I had to work, I doubt I could muster any energy. I certainly don't want to sleep in until the afternoon again tomorrow.
HEH HEH!
Two low chuckles resonated.
Lovingly stroking her short hair, Glades said affectionately, "I'm just teasing you. I'm not the kind of man who disregards his wife's well-being, only seeking his own pleasure. I won't touch you tonight."
My desire for her makes me want to join her in passionate embrace every night, yet I can't bear the thought of her becoming too tired. She simply doesn't have my stamina, especially since she just took over the company and is swamped with work. Unlike me—I have a firm grip on Valence Group. I might seem to work lackadaisically, sometimes not returning to the company for ten days or half a month, but I handle affairs much more efficiently than she does.
"You are the best husband in the world, and I'm the happiest woman. I am a woman filled with gratitude and contentment," Julia giggled, her expression coquettish and playful, like a sprite that had secretly lingered in the mortal world.
"And here I thought someone didn't know how to be grateful," Glades retorted playfully. When Julia pretended to be annoyed, he swiftly captured her lips.
The kiss was passionate, dominating, yet tender—all these emotions intermingled within it.
Julia looped her arms around Glades's neck, accepting his kiss.
Glades, in turn, held her head close, fingers weaving into her short hair, pulling her even tighter into his arms to deepen their kiss.
After a deep kiss, Glades, holding her close, said huskily, "Julia, let's sleep."
Julia lay in his arms. It had been over a month since the first night they'd shared, and she had progressed from initial discomfort to being accustomed, even dependent on it.
Listening to his strong heartbeat, still racing from our kiss, I know he really wants to make love. But he doesn't want to exhaust me, so he's holding back. It's his consideration for me that made me fall for him. With a husband like this, what more could a woman ask for?
Her soft hand continued to trace his handsome face, offering comfort and expressing her love. Gently, tenderly, her voice—clear and sweet, yet soft and tinged with a hint of desire—murmured into Glades's ear, "Glades, you sleep first. I want to watch you fall asleep."
Every night, I drift off under his caresses. I feel like a child, and he's like a nurturing mother. I want to watch him fall asleep too, just once.
Glades laughed. He finally understood why he loved her so much. She was truly a darling, someone you couldn't help but love and cherish, someone you could never bear to let go of. She had so many qualities that captivated him. She had a regal side and an ordinary one. Sometimes, she was like a lofty, untouchable princess. Other times, she was an ordinary woman, caring for those around her with a simple, kind heart. He particularly loved it when she interacted with him with the heart of an ordinary wife. He loved seeing her prepare his meals personally, just like any other wife would. Watching her dainty figure bustling in the kitchen always stirred a tempest in his heart.
