Prosperous Marriage: Married to My Brother-in-law

Chapter 254 Ruiz Gets Jealous (1)_1

However…

That habitual, gentle smile, like a spring breeze, once again appeared on Hansen Ruiz's lips, making his already pleasing face even more charming. If it weren't for Julia Bluen, he probably wouldn't have taken an interest in Rachel Bailey. Their first meeting had left him with a slight impression due to Rachel's sharp tongue. It was at Glades Horne and Julia Bluen's wedding that he had truly taken notice of her again. After spending more time together, he found he had unwittingly given his heart away.

At thirty-five, considering himself well-versed in the ways of women, he had unexpectedly fallen for an utterly ordinary woman. Love is truly incomprehensible.

「Soon, Hansen Ruiz's car appeared on Betra Street.」

From a distance, he saw that in front of the Chic Attire Boutique, a crowd had gathered in several rings. He couldn't help but deepen his smile. Was Rachel's business doing so well? But his smile quickly faded, as this wasn't a sign of good business, but rather a crowd gathered to watch a spectacle.

Rachel Bailey was furious, so mad she felt like crying.

Five or six thuggish-looking men, clearly street ruffians, were vandalizing her clothing stall, knocking down all the racks onto the ground and even trampling her clothes underfoot.

These hoodlums demanded protection money from her. She had rented the space in front of the store—what need was there for their protection? It wasn't like a typical street stall; this was clearly an excuse for extortion. Probably someone was envious of her business picking up in the last few days and had sent these thugs to smash up her place. She refused to pay the so-called protection fees, and they responded with outrageous demands, asking for five thousand yuan right off the bat. She didn't even make five thousand yuan in a day's earnings. Where could she possibly find so much money for protection fees?

When she refused, this was the outcome—without a word, they started smashing her stall.

She had called the police, but they had not yet arrived.

There were many onlookers, but not a single person dared to step forward to help her.

Everyone just looked on sympathetically.

On her own, she could hold off one person, but not several.

Was making a small living, earning a bit of money, really so hard?

In this world, the weak are always bullied!

Hansen Ruiz parked his car at the roadside in front of the Chic Attire Boutique. Seeing clearly that it was Rachel's stall being trashed, he got out of the car, his face stern. He usually had a gentle laugh and gave people the impression of being amiable and easygoing. But once his face turned stern, a chilling aura emanated from him. His deep eyes flashed with rage, and anger enveloped his entire body. He strode into the crowd. With a swift extension of his large hand, he grabbed a man who was vigorously trampling on the clothes, lifted him up, and with a casual toss, threw the offender aside.

His arrival and actions quickly became the focus of everyone's attention.

The handful of thugs, seeing someone stepping in like a hero to save the damsel in distress, immediately stopped their vandalism and all turned to attack Hansen Ruiz.

"Hansen Ruiz, be careful!" Rachel Bailey screamed, warning Hansen Ruiz to be cautious. Fearing he would be at a disadvantage, she picked up a stainless steel hollow rod used for hanging clothes and dashed to Hansen's side, swinging the rod wildly, yelling at the thugs closing in on them, "Whoever dares come closer, I'll fight you all!"

"Rachel!" Hansen Ruiz's face darkened even further upon her rushing in. Didn't she trust him? Did she think he couldn't handle these people? Did she really think he was the kind of man who could only sit in an office signing papers with a pen? The Ruiz family's training for heirs was as strict as the Horne Family, not just in business tactics but also in self-defense and martial arts. He was confident he could take on ten at once.

With a decisive snatch, Hansen Ruiz seized the rod from Rachel Bailey's hand. Then, after a flurry of dazzling moves, Rachel was stunned.

He had struck each of the several thugs twice on the legs with the rod, forcing them to kneel before her.

The thugs' faces alternated between red and pale. Just moments ago, they had been aggressive and vicious, but now they were so furious they wished they could tear Hansen Ruiz apart alive. Every time they tried to stand up, Hansen's rod would come swinging down, forcing them to keep kneeling.

The onlookers immediately broke into applause.

Damn it, is this a show? What are you clapping for? Didn't see anyone helping or even speaking up! Rachel Bailey was silently scorning the onlookers in her heart.

This selfish society, where everyone minds their own business and morals are declining.

「WEE-OOO WEE-OOO…」

The wail of police sirens approached.

Finally, two police cars arrived at the scene.

Seeing Hansen Ruiz holding a rod, looking like a demon from Hell, the leading police officer immediately shouted, "What are you doing?"

Rachel Bailey leaped in front of that police officer, her small face dark with anger, and shouted back, "Self-defense!"

She was livid.

She had called the police. It took them nearly half an hour to finally show up. And when they did, they arrived with a fierce attitude, shouting at Hansen Ruiz. If she tolerated this, she wouldn't be Rachel Bailey.

The police officer hadn't expected Rachel's fury to be so intense. Startled by her shout, he paused for a moment. Then, his face darkening, he challenged, "Are you an accomplice? Step aside if this doesn't concern you." Then he looked around, shouting, "Who's the owner here?"

"I'm the owner here, the one who called the police. These people were forcing me to pay protection money and even smashed up my stall. Righteous officers, I implore you to handle this justly!" Rachel Bailey glared at the police officer, her teeth clenched as she spoke with a mix of praise and hidden scorn.

The police officer glared back at Rachel Bailey and looked around at the thugs, momentarily silenced by her implied censure.

The other police officers who had arrived seemed indifferent. They casually told the thugs, whom Hansen Ruiz had beaten to their knees, to get up. The team-leading police officer saw Hansen still holding the stainless-steel rod he had used to hit people. He immediately stepped forward, attempting to take the rod from Hansen, and said, "Regardless, hitting people is wrong!"

Hansen Ruiz threw the rod to the ground, preferring to let it drop than have it taken by the police officer. He didn't speak a word. Instead, he pulled out his phone and made a call. Once connected, he said coldly, "Benjamin Robinson, I'm giving you ten minutes to get to the Chic Attire Boutique on Betra Street. If you're not here in ten minutes, I will dismantle your Police Station."
