Chapter 237 Kidnapping (2)_1
Although the demon twin interfered, preventing him from playing with Julia, she had never attacked him, making him feel she was a good girl.
As he grew older, the attention he paid to her also increased.
Over time, the seed of affection in his heart sprouted.
While loving his older brother Glades, he also fell in love with Julia Bluen. Knowing his own status, he dared not confess his love, nor did he dare to get close to Julia Bluen. He just loved her silently in his heart. Once he gained strength, he had already missed his chance forever.
He looked deeply at the photo he had taken with Glades Horne once again.
As an adult, Glades Horne became very busy and no longer had time for him, but he knew that Glades still cared for him, his little brother, in his heart.
Now, he felt that he had emotionally wronged his most revered older brother.
Turning around, he placed the photo back on the nightstand. With a bitter gaze, he slowly surveyed the room full of pictures. He slowly slid out of bed and took steps toward the wall, quietly observing each photo. With a heavy hand, he lifted and tore down Julia Bluen's pictures from the wall, one by one. With each one he tore, it felt as painful as cutting his own heart with a knife.
He tore them down with great care, handling each picture as if it were fragile, each one imbued with his love for Julia Bluen.
Fate played cruel tricks. The two people he loved the most had become one. He would rather die than break them apart. Since he couldn't separate them, he forced himself to let go.
Even if the process of letting go was painful, or perhaps he couldn't truly let go, he still had to learn how to do it.
All night long, James Horne tore Julia Bluen's photos from the wall. There were several hundred of them, big and small.
He didn't throw them away but instead found a photo album and sorted the pictures by stages of her life, placing them into the album.
It was also a way of containing his love for Julia Bluen.
He had to slowly learn to respect her as his sister-in-law.
Opening her sleepy eyes, Julia Bluen felt very tired.
Outside the window, there was no sunlight yet, and the sky was a bit gloomy.
Turning her head, she saw Glades Horne still sleeping beside her. Observing him in his sleep, all his radiance retracted, he looked as innocent as a child. Her gaze softened. Gently, carefully, trying not to disturb Glades, she slid out of his embrace.
This man always liked to embrace her until dawn. Sometimes, when she woke up in the middle of the night and slipped out of his embrace, it wouldn't be long before his hand would habitually search for her, pulling her back into his arms as if he felt extremely uneasy without her there.
She knew that once she got out of bed, he would surely wake up soon.
Checking the time, it was just past seven in the morning. No wonder the sky was still a little gloomy.
Dragging her tired body, she went to the balcony and stretched her arms, then took a deep breath of the fresh morning air. After standing for a moment, she went back inside to change clothes and went downstairs to take a walk in the Courtyard.
Yet, as she walked, she couldn't help yawning. She was still sleepy.
"Julia."
Out of nowhere, the sound of a car and a vigorous calling voice came from behind her.
Julia Bluen turned around, only to see the villa's gate being opened by a middle-aged woman she was well acquainted with, because it was Aunt Mei. The car was even more familiar to her; it was the grandmother's private car, and the driver was, of course, Uncle Ying. Uncle Ying was the Horne Family's Housekeeper, but because the grandmother trusted him, he also served as her chauffeur.
The grandmother was here!
Julia Bluen was a bit astonished. And she had come so early in the morning!
The scene felt somewhat familiar.
This had happened once before, just over a month ago.
"Julia," the grandmother's calling voice came again. The car came to a stop, and the grandmother got out with the help of Uncle Ying. Julia Bluen hurriedly went to meet her, holding onto the grandmother's other hand while smiling, "Grandma, why have you come?"
"Has Glades not woken up yet?" The grandmother stopped, smiling slyly in a way that made Julia Bluen feel something was off.
"No, Grandma, are you looking for Glades? Let's go inside, and I'll go upstairs and call him," said Julia Bluen, stopping too. She thought the grandmother had come for Glades Horne.
The grandmother chuckled, her laughter both hearty and cunning, as she gripped Julia Bluen's hand tightly. "No, Grandma came for you. Julia, today is Saturday, you don't have to work, right? It's rare that you're resting at home, so keep Grandma company. Today Grandma is attending an elderly social event at the city's Activity Center. It's held once a month, and every time, I go with the company of Aunt Mei and Uncle Ying. My children and grandchildren are all busy and can't spare the time to accompany me. Every time I see old friends with their families beside them, it makes Grandma envious. So, this time you must accompany Grandma, letting Grandma have her turn to smile in front of her old friends."
Her children and grandchildren weren't really unavailable; they just didn't want to accompany her to the Activity Center for the elderly because it was filled with old people, the youngest of whom were already in their seventies. Young people naturally didn't like to mingle with the elderly because they have different topics, experiences, and ways of thinking. There are over a dozen generational gaps, making communication difficult. Yet, others had filial children and grandchildren accompany them, some grandchildren being as young as ten years old, but at least they had company.
As for her, everyone knew she was the esteemed matriarch of the Horne Family, more distinguished than the rest, yet she was the loneliest one. She was always accompanied by servants. Whenever her old friends asked her, "What are your children doing that they're so busy? With so much money, why are they still so hardworking? Why can't they take some time to accompany you, an old lady?"
