Chapter 233 Endless Night of Love (2)_1
Seeing her laugh so freely, Glades Horne's handsome face flushed with a hint of embarrassment. Did I buy the wrong things?
His arm tightened, and her hand, which was looped through his, was pulled even closer to his waist. Dark, deep eyes swept over her.
Julia Bluen came back to her senses and said with a smile, "Glades, I didn't mean to laugh, I really couldn't help it. You... you actually bought so many ingredients! Heavens, are you trying to get me to open a dumpling shop?"
"You asked for it," Glades Horne uttered in a low voice.
Julia was suddenly at a loss for words.
Alright, it was her request. It was her fault. She should have specified exactly how much lean meat was needed, and how much of the other ingredients.
I'll never make this mistake again, Julia silently admonished herself.
As the sun in the high sky began to sink to the west, evening officially arrived. Summer days were always long and the nights short. Once winter arrived, this pattern reversed, bringing long nights and short days.
As soon as the sun dipped below the horizon, the temperature dropped, growing decidedly cool. A wind picked up—not strong, but no longer the refreshing breeze of summer. This was a winter wind, carrying a distinct chill that made people feel cold.
Two cars drove into what seemed to be Horne Garden, stopping at the villa situated deepest within the grounds, near the artificial lake.
Two bodyguards moved all the ingredients Glades Horne had bought from the back seat of the car into the kitchen, quickly filling it up.
"You two should stay for dinner tonight as well. I'll make dumplings," Julia Bluen offered as she returned to the home she shared exclusively with Glades Horne. She seemed much more at ease here. Casually tossing her bag onto the sofa, she walked into the kitchen and tied an apron around her waist. She had none of the airs of a lady from a prestigious family, looking instead like an ordinary wife.
The two bodyguards were smiling, about to accept, when they suddenly felt an icy draft sweep over them. A glance revealed Glades Horne glaring at them, his gaze so chilling it sent shivers down their spines. Even if Julia had offered them a feast of swan meat, they wouldn't have dared to stay now. They hastily excused themselves and departed.
What a joke. The young master clearly wants to enjoy some exclusive time with the young madam. If we stay, we'll just be third wheels, they thought.
Julia, not missing Glades Horne's ominous stare, chuckled inwardly. What a tyrant!
Turning around, she began to busy herself.
Glades had bought so many ingredients that Julia first needed to organize them all and then pack them into the refrigerator to keep them fresh and prevent spoilage. It took her nearly an hour to sort everything before she could finally start chopping the dumpling filling.
There were also a lot of dumpling wrappers, enough to feed dozens of people.
As Julia busied herself, she couldn't help but chuckle inwardly from time to time.
"Let me do it." Seeing her chopping meat, Glades Horne took off his suit jacket, rolled up his shirt sleeves, put on an apron, and walked over to Julia. He took the knife from her hand and started copying her earlier actions, attempting to chop the meat. He assumed that as a man with more strength, he would be faster and better at it than Julia. Little did he know, his chopping was a complete mess. Julia, unable to bear watching any longer, snatched the knife back and told him to do something else.
In the kitchen, the couple bustled about. One moved with swift, skilled movements, while the other, though quick, was somewhat flustered, his efforts not always meeting his partner's satisfaction.
Low voices, male and female, rose and fell intermittently, mingling into a sound that was surprisingly pleasant to hear.
When the filling was finally ready, Julia let out a long sigh of relief. She glanced at Glades and smiled, "Glades, maybe you shouldn't help next time. It feels like the more you help, the more complicated things get."
"If I don't learn to help, how will I make them for you in the future?" Glades Horne gazed at her lovely face, speaking with deep earnestness. At that moment, he found her incredibly beautiful. She radiated the gentle aura of a devoted wife, and looking at her made his heart flutter.
Julia smiled, saying no more.
She knew he enjoyed taking care of her.
Now that the filling was ready, they started to wrap the dumplings.
At first, Glades just watched. He didn't know how to make dumplings; people of his background rarely ate them. When he was a child, the Horne family had not yet reached the pinnacle it occupied today, though he recalled eating dumplings once or twice back then.
After watching for a few minutes, he decided it looked quite simple. With his high IQ, he was confident he'd grasp it at a glance. So, he washed his hands and joined the dumpling-wrapping efforts.
He spread a dumpling wrapper in the center of his large palm, then used chopsticks to pick up some filling and place it on the skin, attempting to imitate Julia's technique. In no time, he had wrapped one. See? I'm so smart. It took less than a minute to wrap one! Hmm, I could talk to Ruiz about planning a dumpling chain store, he thought, feeling quite smug. However, when he placed his creation next to the dumplings Julia had wrapped, he was dumbfounded. His dumpling was flat, as if starved, the filling pitifully scant.
"HAHA..." Julia chuckled. "Glades, you used too little filling."
A fresh wave of embarrassment washed over Glades Horne's handsome face.
So, it seems that even someone who can call the shots and command the wind and rain in the outside world isn't omnipotent. When it comes to the details of everyday life, he's like a blank slate, Julia mused.
He took another dumpling wrapper. This time, he scooped up a generous amount of filling, but with so much, he couldn't seal it properly. As he cautiously pinched the edges together, his hands suddenly felt greasy. Looking closer, he saw the wrapper had burst, and the filling was oozing out.
"HEHE..." Julia couldn't hold back her laughter. The amusement made her pretty, oval face even more captivating and delightful.
