Prosperous Marriage: Married to My Brother-in-law

Chapter 216 Ancestral Secret Fertility Recipe (2)_1

"People do grow up. By the way, what's going on with my dad and my big sister?" Leo Bluen was also a sharp individual. Seeing Marcel Horne here, he had guessed most of the situation.

"Let's not talk about that now," Marcel Horne said in a low voice as he passed him and walked into the house.

Chris Bluen's reaction told Marcel that Chris Bluen would not approve of him being with Ruby Bluen.

Indeed, if he and Ruby Bluen wanted to be together, they would still have to endure many trials and tribulations.

However, no matter what storms they had to weather, he would never let go again.

Chris Bluen pulled Ruby Bluen back into the room and made her sit on the sofa.

Scarlett Taylor did not know what had happened; she thought the father and daughter were arguing. Panicking, she ran over, intending to mediate, when a deep voice reached her ears, "Auntie Scarlett."

She turned her head and saw Marcel Horne in a military uniform. She was momentarily stunned, her face full of confusion.

"Everyone sit down! Now, tell me, what exactly is going on with you two?" Chris Bluen shouted, adopting the tone of the family patriarch. Everyone then sat down on the sofa.

Marcel Horne naturally sat next to Ruby Bluen, but Chris Bluen thwarted him by squeezing Leo Bluen between them, clearly showing his opposition to them sitting together.

"What's going on here? Marcel, you're back," Scarlett Taylor said to Marcel Horne, offering a gentle smile.

"What's going on? Ask your precious daughter! She actually..." Chris Bluen was genuinely furious.

Of the Horne family, he was only on friendly terms with Gian Horne. Chief of Staff Horne was a military officer and not involved in business, so their relationship was merely an acquaintance. He was somewhat in awe of the perpetually stern and serious Chief of Staff Horne. Sovia Morris was a formidable officer's wife. If the Horne family found out about Ruby Bluen and Marcel Horne being together, it would cause a huge uproar.

The Horne family's dissatisfaction with Ruby Bluen would undoubtedly find an outlet. Although Julia Bluen was now the eldest young madam of the Horne family, and out of consideration for Glades Horne, they wouldn't dare to do anything too outrageous, they would definitely not approve of Ruby Bluen and Marcel Horne being together.

Glades Horne had married Julia Bluen. Although Chris himself hadn't said anything, he knew Mila Anderson and the others were very unhappy, feeling that Glades Horne had been ensnared by Chris's two daughters.

The bridal switch hadn't been his idea. He loved Julia Bluen the most. Even if he had been reluctant to sever ties with the Horne family and couldn't withstand a furious Glades Horne, he wouldn't have let Julia Bluen take Ruby's place.

However, after Julia Bluen quietly registered her marriage to Glades Horne, he hadn't opposed it either.

Glades was a responsible man. Once he married Julia, even if he didn't love her, he would fulfill his duties as a husband, and Julia could be happy.

He had thought the storm caused by Ruby Bluen fleeing her marriage would finally calm down.

Unexpectedly, Ruby Bluen had now gotten entangled with Marcel Horne.

The mere thought of Sovia Morris's potentially furious face and harsh scolding gave Chris Bluen a headache.

It wasn't the scolding that gave him a headache; it was the concern that if Ruby Bluen insisted on being with Marcel Horne, her future relationship with her in-laws would be terrible. Sigh… how could he not have a headache?

"Dad, Mom, the person I've always loved is Marcel," Ruby Bluen declared, standing up straight and bravely facing her furious father and her mother, who was still in the dark.

Determination showed on her pretty, round face. She had dared to run away from her wedding; what more did she have to fear? She was pursuing the happiness she desired, wanting only to marry the man she loved. She didn't think she was wrong. Unless Marcel Horne was already married, she would persevere to the end.

"Ruby?" Scarlett Taylor felt as if she'd been struck by lightning upon hearing her words, her face a mask of disbelief.

Ruby Bluen had always loved Marcel Horne? Then what were those six years of romance with Glades Horne all about?

If she didn't love him, why would she have willingly maintained a romantic relationship with Glades Horne?

Scarlett Taylor was utterly confused by her eldest daughter.

"Uncle Bluen, Aunt Scarlett, Ruby and I truly love each other," Marcel Horne also stated in a deep voice.

"You two... Your father is going to be driven mad by you!" Chris Bluen fumed, pacing back and forth in front of everyone, occasionally clutching his forehead as if his head ached.

Finally, he stopped in front of Ruby Bluen and said, "Ruby, come with me to the study room." With that, he turned and walked upstairs. Ruby Bluen stood up and followed him.

Before long, the sounds of the father and daughter arguing echoed from upstairs. Chris Bluen kept shouting, and Ruby Bluen was no less fierce in her responses. Their heated argument terrified Scarlett Taylor and worried Marcel Horne, prompting them all to hurry upstairs.

"This won't do. Ruby is a stubborn child; we need to call Julia back," Scarlett Taylor muttered. She walked a few steps, then stopped, turned, and went back to the sofa to call Julia Bluen.

Julia Bluen had no idea Marcel Horne had returned, much less that her father disapproved of her sister dating him.

She had just finished breakfast and rested for ten minutes before leaving the dining room, planning to go to the company. Today, she wouldn't be going to the Toy Industry Company but to the newly established Trading Company that had yet to get on track.

As Julia Bluen left the dining room, she detected the smell of medicine but didn't pay it much mind.

In the living room, the Old Madam, who usually sat on the sofa reading the newspaper, wasn't there today; she was probably taking a walk in the courtyard. The Old Madam paid great attention to her health. Every morning, she would walk in the courtyard or the Golden Kirin Garden to breathe the fresh air.

Her father-in-law, Gian Horne, was sitting on the armchair. Julia hadn't seen him at breakfast earlier, so he must have just come downstairs. The Horne family had many members, but they didn't have a unified breakfast time. The kitchen would prepare Western or Chinese-style breakfasts according to each family member's preference and when they woke up.

Unless the Old Madam gave an order in advance, it was impossible for the entire family to appear in the dining room for breakfast at the same time.

Gian Horne looked somewhat displeased, and his wife, Mila Anderson, sitting next to him, also had a troubled expression. It seemed the couple had some disagreement.

"Dad, Mom, I'm off to work," Julia Bluen said politely to her in-laws, preparing to leave.
