Prosperous Marriage: Married to My Brother-in-law

Chapter 213 Marcel Returns (4)_1

Catching sight of a cake shop by the street, Glades Horne suddenly commanded in a deep voice, "Stop the car in front of that Cake Shop."

"Yes, Young Master."

The bodyguards drove the car to the curb, stopping right in front of the Cake Shop, which was about to close.

Julia Bluen asked with a bit of confusion, "Glades, do you want to order a cake? Is it someone's birthday?"

Glades Horne smiled, flicked her nose lightly, and said, "Just now, someone was drooling over Mr. Windsor's cake. I'm simply satisfying a certain someone's little craving."

Gosh, he knew that too! Even when he was so angry, he still noticed me longing for the cake.

"Let's go, get out of the car. I'll buy you a cake. You girl, you like so many things, you could open a food Shopping Mall!" His voice was full of doting affection for Julia, almost treating her like a child.

"Food is the essence of life, after all," Julia said playfully, sticking out her tongue. Her antics made Glades feel a mix of love, tenderness, and helplessness towards her.

Perhaps I should add cake to the snack cabinet in my office, the one I set up just for her. I know all the snacks she loves, but I haven't stocked cakes.

Mulling this over, Glades decided he would install a small fridge in the snack cabinet the next day. It would be specially filled with cakes he prepared for Julia, so she could have whatever she wanted, whenever she felt like it.

He took Julia's hand, led her out of the car, and they walked into the Cake Shop. Glades thoughtfully picked out her favorite flavor and asked the master baker at the Cake Shop to prepare it immediately.

He knows my preferences as well as he knows his own! I've truly found the best man in the world for me, an incredibly precious treasure!

Shortly after, the cake was ready.

After paying, Glades picked up the cake and handed it to Julia, who was beside him. He gave her a smiling glance and said, "Here, take this. We'll eat it when we get home."

"Glades, thank you," Julia said, taking the cake, her voice filled with heartfelt gratitude.

He was so good to her, so incredibly good that she often felt the urge to cry. Even her father, who treasured her like a pearl, didn't treat her as well as Glades did. What have I ever done to deserve his wholehearted love?

"Silly girl, you're my wife. If I don't treat you well, who should I? There's no need for thanks. That's too formal. Don't forget, a husband and wife are one. When you're happy, I'm happy too," Glades said with an adoring smile. He took her hand once more and led her out of the Cake Shop.

His hand holding hers, he resolved to grow old with her.

The night grew deeper, and time quietly slipped away. Days passed in a mixture of joy and sorrow, busyness and fatigue.

「Three days later.」

In early winter, the mornings were often gloomy and chilly. The sun wouldn't typically show its face until after nine, banishing the morning chill and returning a comfortable temperature to everyone.

At the Bluen Family villa, Ruby Bluen left in her car around eight in the morning, as usual, heading to work at the Bluen Family consortium.

Everyone now knew she hadn't married her childhood sweetheart and longtime boyfriend, Glades Horne. Three days prior, at the Windsor Family Wine Party, Glades's actions and domineering words had made it clear to all that Julia Bluen was his wife.

Over these past three days, many people had called her. Their words were a mix of perplexity and probing, trying to dig up some exclusive news or to gauge if she was heartbroken about Glades Horne marrying Julia Bluen. However, her responses and reactions disappointed everyone. She wasn't upset at all; in fact, she was happy and sincerely wished her sister and Glades well. She also told these callers that Glades's true love had always been Julia. If they didn't want to offend Glades Horne, they'd best not continue to pry into the matter.

Starting today, the gossipy calls had stopped.

Her car pulled out of the Bluen Family villa, only to stop abruptly.

A tall, imposing man in military uniform stood ramrod straight like a cypress at the entrance of the Bluen Family villa. A suitcase rested on the ground beside him.

When Ruby Bluen saw the familiar figure—the one she met every night in her dreams—her whole body trembled, and her hands on the steering wheel began to shake.

He's back! Marcel Horne is really back! And this time, he's back for me!

Ruby didn't get out of the car immediately. She just sat quietly inside, watching Marcel Horne through the windshield. He hadn't moved either, and their gazes met and locked, like two magnets drawn powerfully to each other, neither willing to break contact nor shift even an inch.

Tears unknowingly streamed down her face. Ruby was crying, but this time, they were tears of joy.

He's finally back! From now on, we won't be separated by distance, no more longing for each other across a thousand miles!

Marcel Horne began to walk towards her, his steps steady yet eager.

Ruby immediately opened her car door, jumped out, and also started walking towards him. After just a few steps, she couldn't bear the slow pace any longer and broke into a run.

"Marcel!" Ruby sobbed as she reached him, throwing herself into his arms and wrapping her own tightly around his sturdy waist. She buried her face in his chest.

"Ruby." For the first time, Marcel embraced her without reservation. His arms were strong, pulling her fiercely against him as if he wished he could absorb her into his very being, blending her into his bones and blood so they would never be separated again.

In these few short days, I've missed her more than all the previous days combined. My love for her keeps churning in the lake of my heart, stirring up countless giant waves.

After finally handing over his duties to the new battalion commander, he had immediately packed his bags. Carrying the well wishes of his entire former battalion, he left the camp where he had been stationed for many years and, for the first time, obeyed a transfer order—back to T City.
