Chapter 522: There Has to Be Something Real at Home
The three sisters were chatting about the topic of a secret chamber treasure, and as Zheng Yanyan accidentally touched a mechanism, a brick on the wall suddenly sank in, causing the three girls to pause and eye each other.
Honestly, they were a bit scared at first, thinking there might be someone else in the castle. After a while with no sound, they calmed down, and Zheng Yanyan stammered, "Could, could there really be some treasure?"
"How is that possible? Even if there were treasure, it wouldn't be left for us, right?" Lu Lin said this without much confidence, because the reality was right in front of them. Could it be that Zheng Yanyan had really guessed correctly?
Shen Yu suggested going to find Zhou Yuwen to take a look, but as soon as she turned around, Zheng Yanyan grabbed her, saying that it was just a brick that sank. Maybe it was just due to being old and worn, and calling her husband for such a small matter seemed unnecessarily exaggerated.
"Let's keep looking."
As Zheng Yanyan spoke, she reached towards the sunken spot, and upon seeing this, Lu Lin and Shen Yu both jumped, wanting to stop her. But at that moment, Zheng Yanyan had already reached in.
She felt the brick could be pushed further in, so without thinking, she pushed a little further, and then heard a marble slab, 80x80, lock into the wall, revealing a cellar entrance. Seeing this, the three girls were even more incredulous.
A secret chamber actually exists?
The three girls gathered around, but inside, it was pitch black, and everyone was a bit scared. Yet, Zheng Yanyan was somewhat excited and couldn't help but swallow, feeling there must be treasures inside.
Without much thought, she started to descend the steps.
But after taking two steps, she was directly stopped by Shen Yu and Lu Lin.
Lu Lin asked, "What are you doing?"
"Do you know what's inside? You just rush in? If there are traps, you wouldn't even know how you died!"
Zheng Yanyan said, "No way, I think it should be left by the former Manor Owner. Maybe there are antiques or treasures inside; we just go down and find out?"
"Are you crazy? At least inform Zhou Yuwen first."
Lu Lin wouldn't let Zheng Yanyan go down and asked Shen Yu to notify Zhou Yuwen to come over and take a look, as perhaps Zhou Yuwen knew about the secret chamber.
Shen Yu, listening to Lu Lin, intended to go out and inform Zhou Yuwen without thinking, but after two steps, Zheng Yanyan blocked her again.
With such a good chance to earn credit, Zheng Yanyan couldn't let anyone else have it. She's read too many novels and firmly believes there are definitely treasures inside the chamber.
She insisted on being the first to inform Zhou Yuwen.
Shen Yu didn't argue with Zheng Yanyan about this, finding it amusing, and told Zheng Yanyan, "Then you go."
So Zheng Yanyan eagerly went to notify Zhou Yuwen.
At this time, Zhou Yuwen was still at the newly built horse stable, bonding with the horses when he saw Zheng Yanyan run over, panting. The more she thought about it, the more she believed the cellar must be hiding a lot of treasure, maybe even inexhaustible fortune. As she got more excited, her pace quickened.
When she reached Zhou Yuwen, she was already breathless, her cheeks flushed.
Before she finished speaking, she was bent over, hands on her knees, catching her breath, wiping the sweat off her face.
Zhou Yuwen watched, puzzled, as he asked what Zheng Yanyan was doing.
Zheng Yanyan intended to say it directly, but seeing Heather beside Zhou Yuwen, also looking at her suspiciously, Zheng Yanyan thought, Heather still wasn't her husband's woman, and if there were indeed treasures in the secret chamber, wouldn't she find out? She needed to be cautious.
So Zheng Yanyan mysteriously pulled Zhou Yuwen aside and quietly told him about discovering the secret chamber in the castle, suggesting it might contain many treasures.
Zhou Yuwen was momentarily stunned, finding Zheng Yanyan's imagination a bit overactive, and was about to say something when Zheng Yanyan made a silent gesture, quietly telling him not to let the foreign woman hear.
Zhou Yuwen felt exasperated, saying, "Are you crazy? Heather doesn't understand English."
"Huh?" Zheng Yanyan suddenly remembered but then said, "What if she can understand?"
"Alright..."
Zhou Yuwen remained speechless.
Looking towards Heather, Heather asked suspiciously, "Did something happen?"
Zhou Yuwen said there wasn't anything significant.
"Seems like her sisters have some issues that need my help to sort out, so I might not be able to stay here with you." Zhou Yuwen explained to Heather in English.
Heather didn't quite understand, thinking what could happen in broad daylight, but she didn't ask further, smiling, and nodded, indicating Zhou Yuwen could go ahead.
So Zhou Yuwen left with Zheng Yanyan.
They arrived at the castle, now still abandoned, but luckily it was daytime, the sunlight streaming through its numerous windows, illuminating the entire place.
The entrance to the secret chamber was at the southeastern corner of the castle, where Lu Lin and Shen Yu had been guarding. Upon seeing Zhou Yuwen, they all gathered around, with no outsiders present. Zheng Yanyan spoke loudly, still believing it housed hidden treasures.
