Chapter 22: 22.) Unexpected Results of Meeting, More questions
Authors Note: hey guys. I've had an idea for a while. One I planted the seed to in an earlier chapter. I don't know how in depth I'll go into it, but I find the use of such an idea a decent ice breaker for Zach and The Mikaelson's.
Do hope you all enjoy the way I go about this. Because believe me, with how powerful zach is, the originals would stop at nothing to kill him. Look at Lucien. Marcel. When they became able to truly stand up to and hurt and original they became hell bent on killing them.
Granted, both of said individuals had a want to kill them to so fair play. But seriously. They wouldn't allow someone they have no idea about to be that powerful and run around. So I've tried to find a way to subvert their initial suspicion and want to kill someone who could threaten them.
Thanks. Enjoy the chapter. By the way, this chapter and the one before are all apart of Season 4 Episode 19: Pictures of You

Klaus
'Witches. It's always damn witches.' I think to myself making my way to the grill for a drink. Earlier I got an interesting note from Katerina. Apparently there's a witch in New Orleans plotting against me. A stupid endeavor of course. That isn't what bothers me.
What bothers me is the location. New Orleans was the place my family and I truly felt at home. The place we built with our own hands from a French slave colony into a city over 2 centuries.
In my 1,000 years of life, those 200 had to be the best. I felt accepted by those around me. Respected. A time when the name Mikaelson meant more than blood and death.
Such days are long gone. The cars I see passing me on my way to the bar reinforces this fact. Since receiving the warning from the Petrova, I began coming up with plots. How to go about rooting out The Devereaux Witches.
'If only I had Hybrids,' I think to myself cursing my sister for destroying the doppelgänger blood I had stocked in case of a rainy day. Had I still the ability to let hybrids transition successfully, I could send 3 of them down there with no problem to handle this. The immortal Silas is also a pain in the ass that needs to be handled soon. Any being who can play with an originals mind is a threat that must be neutralized.
I finally reach my destination, The Mystic Grill. A quaint little place in this boring little town. I walk in and am immediately hit with a sense of urgency. Very few times have my instincts went haywire like they are now.
I think that there must be some spell but I can't sense magic. Just another predator. It's a wolf. My nose tells me that. But he smells... different.
I begin trying to follow the scent while speaking to the little barmaid. "Hello love, I'd like your finest bourbon please." I say with a devilish smile. She speaks.
"I'm sorry sir. We're out of bourbon until the truck arrives tomorrow. That gentleman over there," she points to the end of the bar while speaking, "that gentleman in the corner just bought the last bottle."
I turn my head and think I'm looking at a ghost. It's been 1,000 years. But I'd always hated myself for letting my little brother, Henrik, be killed by werewolves. That single choice led my family down a path of true destruction.
But In front of me, drinking a bottle of bourbon is the adult version of my little brother. The same dark hair and eyes. A light beard that accentuates the contours of his face rather than cover them.
While I'm taking all of this in the ghost speaks to me, "would you like a drink? I don't mind sharing." He said, pouring himself another drink and sliding a second glass toward me.
I move and sit down. Wondering how a wolf who looks so much like my brother sits here. I take a drink to calm my nerves. I look quizzically at the young man, "who are you?" I ask without preamble. I needed answers. One of my biggest mistakes stands before me.

I'd expected a lot of scenarios in which I finally met the famous original hybrid.
What I didn't expect is for said 1,000 year old being to look like a deer in headlights. Odd. I've seen Klaus in a lot of scenarios and never has he looked like he does now.
After getting him to sit down he asks me, "who are you?"
I chuckle, "it's customary to introduce yourself before asking for another name. But I guess that's fine. My name is Zach Steel. And yours?" I ask him.
"Klaus." He says. Pouring another drink and downing it in one go.
I nod. "Nice to meet you. Are you new here? I don't remember you the last time I visited Mystic Falls." I say to him trying to break the tension that's built up.
"No. I lived here a long long time ago." He replied. Still looking at me weird.
I decided to cut through the bullshit. I know his senses have picked up I'm a wolf. No need to hide it. "I'd say so. I've only met one other vampire who smells as old as you." I say trying to gauge his current relationship with his brother.
"Oh? You've met someone like me before?" He asks.
I shake my head. "No. You're a wolf too." I say flashing my Scarlett eyes.
I see his own golden eyes flash back, "his name was elijah." I speak again.
I see realization dawn on his face. Before he has time to respond I down my drink and leave the rest of the bottle to him. Better to keep interactions short for now.
Unfortunately I don't get that chance. As soon as I step out of the sight of the front door I'm slammed into the wall of the building. In front of me is Klaus. His golden eyes glowing in the dark while the fangs and veins come out.
My eyes and teeth respond In kind before I use every ounce of my strength to throw him away into some trash cans. "I don't know what your problem is Mr. Mikaelson, but I can assure you, fighting me is pointless." I say. He rushes me again without speaking.
I may have been scared the last time I encountered an original. But this time I'm confident in my ability to at least earn his respect.
A short spurt of high speed boxing ensues. While he caught me with the first punch the next ones missed as well as his front kick.
I used such an opportunity to my advantage and went for a bite. I know it won't kill him, but I don't want to fight the 1,000 year old hybrid. In truth right now I'd rather speak to Elijah. He and I at least have had some amiable discourse.
Unexpectedly Klaus gets my neck in a breakable position. Just like last time. I swipe my claws across his chest. Making sure they go as deep as possible while I rip them back out. That saves me from dying again.
I decide enough is enough. I explode into my wolf form and take off. A tactical retreat is best. No need to cause anymore commotion. I'd already heard someone calling the police talking about a fight outside the bar.
I don't hear Klaus coming after me. Good. Better to wait it out. Tomorrow I have plans to get in touch with the sensible original.

Klaus
I storm back into the house to see Elijah. "What's happened?" He asked.
I growl, "I met a werewolf." I say not wanting to speak anymore about it. The whole situation just makes my head spin.
"Oh? And what was this wolfs name?" Elijah asked.
"Zach steel." I said. Looking to him for confirmation. I see recognition light up in his eyes. "Ah yes. I met him before you'd broken your curse. An interesting one to be sure. I killed him." He says.
"Then how is he still walking around?" I ask. Werewolves may heal from many things, but death by broken neck is not one of them.
"I'd asked myself that same question. The only answer I could find was in a cave I found while creating the strix…" Elijah begin to explain the story of finding the 'primordials.'

Authors note: hey guys. Wanted to get this out. Had some time today and will probably have a bit of it in the next few days as well. We're supposed to get snow and ice which means I won't be taking my ass to work.
Hope you enjoyed the chapter. See ya.
